Golf and Sports: A haven for golfers, with well over 20 courses in the immediate vicinity, to suit all pockets and levels. We adjoin the 5* Finca el Cortesin, with its 5* hotel, home to the Volvo Match Play Championships. Casares Golf with its excellent restaurant and Fitness Centre is directly opposite. Just down the road, anything up to 5-15 minutes away, are numerous and varied courses such as Dona Julia, Duquesa Golf, Sottogrande, El Roque and Valderrama. Towards Marbella are Estepona Golf, El Paraiso, Monte Mayor, Los Arqueros and La Quinta hills. All of the courses are beautifully maintained, with glorious settings and lush greens. Clubs can be hired locally at the courses or golf shops, or at the airport.
Water sports are available at Puerto De La Duquesa, offering jet ski, water ski, sailing and sea fishing. Health Club offering 'spin' classes, etc available at adjacent Casares Golf. Taste the Jetset lifestyle with the luxurious yachts at Puerto Banus. The ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada are just 2 hours away by motorway.
Days out: Selwo safari park is in a wonderful setting in the nearby hills, whilst for an upfront experience with your ancestors; why not go to the rock of Gibraltar with the apes, 20 minutes away? Combine your experience with a spot of duty free shopping. It's even possible to get to Tangiers, Morocco, on a day trip from Algeciras! Ronda is a must, blending historic Andalucian architecture with Moorish touches, remnants of occupation by a hostile nation long ago. The Bull Ring is also well worth a visit, with its museum of costume and weapons. Marbella is a fascinating blend of traditional and contemporary, with beautiful Orange Square and the narrow streets of the old town set just behind the modern shopping streets crowded with designer boutiques, whilst a short walk to the beach and port takes you through the lovely tropical Alameda gardens, complete with an awe inspiring row of Dali bronzes. Not forgetting drives into the mountains to see the stunning white towns, the Pueblos Blancos.

The location is in a very quiet area, although a bit away from the beach and restaurants. Hence, I would recommend to have a car during a stay here. It is possible to walk to the beach, but there are better beaches short distances away with car to spend time at. No restaurants or nightlife in walking distance. There is a golf club close by and in the same building there is a fitness center. They have e.g. spinning classes. We used this apartment as a base for several daytrips, e.g. Ronda, Los Pueblos Blancos, Gibraltar, Tarifa, Estepona, Marbella and Puerto Banus. The apartment was clean and welcoming when we arrived, which is always nice. We found everything we needed for a pleasant stay, and it is always good to be at a place with a kitchen where the equipment we need is actually there in order to cook. There were aboslutely no traces of any smoking inside, which was highly appreciated by us. The AC in the apartment is exactly what most Norwegians hope to find in warmer countries, it keeps the apartment cool when you need it to be. The bed in the master bedroom is a bit soft, and the two beds in the other bedroom was just right (for us)! We really enjoyed our ten days and we can absolutely recommend this. Thank you.
I have always been fascinated by travellers and travel. In 1987 my family and I moved to a Georgian rectory in Malvern, Worcestershire, which my husband and I took great pleasure in restoring, gradually opening up different parts as holiday accommodation for visitors to this beautiful part of the UK. We ran it as a hugely successful holiday business, with two self-catering apartments in the wing, and the converted coach house as a picturesque holiday cottage, together with 4 en-suite bedrooms in the main house for B&B guests, and earning the prestigious 4 red stars award from the AA.
In 2000 we had the opportunity and funds to venture into the Spanish holiday business, purchasing and upgrading a villa in Fuengirola, which we sold as a successful going concern 4 years later. At this point, we decided to purchase a brand new property in a quality location, with on-site facilities such as pools and tropical gardens, besides being in an ideal location for the discerning holiday maker. So we chose our sea view apartment on Casares del Sol, naming it 'La Palmera' after our first villa. Our first letting was in 2008. We now also own a wonderful villa in the north Costa Blanca, which we have nearly finished extending and upgrading, adding our own pool, garden plants, and terraces, to which we escape as often as commitments allow. We are now retired and reside on the edge of the beautiful Cotswolds, and close to Stratford-upon-Avon.
From 'La Palmera' Apartment one is immediately impressed by the glorious setting, nestling in the protection of the mountains and looking down to the sparkling blue sea. Sitting on the terrace it is a real delight to soak up the majesty and peace of the surroundings. We are so pleased to be able to share this unique experience with others, and so endeavour to offer every home comfort that the discerning holiday maker would expect of a quality holiday property.
