|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
The accommodation is situated on the upper floor of this traditional Canarian house. Casa Lilia is a beautifully furnished home, light and spacious and very comfortable. In true Canary style the living areas are built around a plant-filled courtyard. The accommodation comprises of spacious living room and dining area, modern kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms, courtyard and terrace. All areas are completely private. The main bedroom has bathroom en-suite. The second bedroom has two beds and a shower room. There are many beautiful features throughout like high vaulted, beamed ceilings in the bedrooms and wooden floors in the living areas. The house has WIFI internet access. The overall atmosphere of this house is one of space, warmth, natural light, tranquillity and comfort. Here, you will encounter an ideal environment for relaxing and exploring the Island.
We liked your house as soon as we arrived. The pedestrian-only approach is lined with sub tropical flowering plants and the first thing we saw was the huge bougainvillea-hung balcony at the front which proved to be the perfect place for relaxing with a drink after a day´s walking. We were delighted with the modern style of decor and general comfort and cleanliness. There is plenty of room in the house for 4, so for a couple it felt really spacious: finding somewhere to put things was never a problem. The internal courtyard with utility room extends the living space and is so practical. If only all holiday lets had this.
The views from the house are fantastic with the small town of Vallehermoso spread out below and Roque Cano standing proudly above. At night the view is transformed by the twinkling lights of the town.
Vallehermoso itself turned out to be the perfect place to stay with its little square, friendly people and easy access straight from the door to good walks. We would have no reservations in recommending your house to others, but should say that because of the fairly steep walk from the parking area to the house it would not suit everybody. However, we loved it and look forward to returning some day.
The two of us spent ten nights at Casa Lilia and enjoyed it a great deal. Its an attractive and well-thought out property, with some charming personal touches. I'd say there was plenty of room for a four people, with lots of hot water, good showers, decent washing machine and a big fridge/freezer.
The location is ideal - there are smashing views over the farming terraces - bananas, papayas, and so on - and down to the village centre, and across to the imposing Roque Cano. Convenient and well-stocked Spar supermarket, plus some restaurants, post office and a cash point all about five mins walk away - and there's a petrol station too. We explored the national park, which is close (the roads and signage seem to be in good condition across the La Gomera - reassuring with the twisty roads!) and would recommend that, and also taking advantage of the lovely salt water pool down by playa Vallehermso. We went there for an hour or so most days for a swim and read and it was always quiet - has got a lifeguard and a snack bar - great if you find the Atlantic waves soothing to listen to but a bit challenging for swimming!
Karen, the owner, was very friendly and helpful from our first enquiry - making getting there seem straightforward and hassle-free.
I'd agree with all the other positive comments made in other reviews and would recommend this property.
We have just returned from a week at Casa Lilia in Vallehermosa, La Gomera. The house is lovely, with a pretty inner courtyard and amazing views from the terrace. The house is well-equipped, pleasantly and comfortably furnished, private and quiet. There are lovely walks directly from the village although a car is necessary to fully explore the island. The owner is very helpful, offering good advice and easy to contact.
We had a very relaxing 10 days on La Gomera. The house was really nice. The owner was really helpful whenever we contacted her. The nights were very cold so I recommend taking English winter pyjamas (unless we just had unseasonable weather). We are not walkers so unlike most visitors to the island we went by car and the roads were fantastic. Staying in Vallehermosa, a car is a good idea. We ate in many restaurants on the island and found the food excellent. The scenery is amazing.
Casa Lilia is a beautiful Canarian house, built around 1880 and totally renovated and restored to its former glory in 1999. It is situated in the North of the Island, in Vallehermoso, literal translation is “Beautiful Valley” and is the ideal place for those who seek peace and tranquillity, who are lovers of nature and walking and who enjoy village life.
The house is in El Palmar, overlooking the valley floor with its small terraces planted with vines, fruit trees and domestic crops and is but a four minute walk from the village centre, down a very pretty, paved path. The village has various restaurants and bars, offering simple “home-cooking”, supermarkets, bank, petrol station and pharmacy and doctors surgery.
