The River House is located 100 yards from Honolii Beach and 5 minutes from downtown Hilo. Honolii Beach is the premier surfers' beach on Eastside of the Big Island. Downtown Hilo offers quaint shopping and a taste of international cuisine from our local restaurants. Downtown Hilo is also the home of the Farmer's Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Must see attractions while in Hilo include:

- Rainbow Falls and Boiling Pots is Hilo’s most popular wall fall – a MUST see.

- The Lyman Museum offers a in depth history of the Hawaiian Islands and the culture of the Islands.

- The Pacific Tsunami Museum tells the story of the 1946 Tsumani as well as others.

- Imiloa Astromony Center is located about 15 to 20 minutes south. The center has rotating exhibits and a planetarium with daily shows.

- Volcano National Park is 45 minutes south of Hilo. See first hand what makes the Big Island the 'big island'.

- Hilo Tropical Botanical Garden is 10 minutes north. Walk though the mountainside among native orchids and other lush foliage. Don't forget to see the Onomea Falls too!

- Akaka Falls is 15 minutes north and is a magnificent and majestic waterfall.

- Mauna Kea Observatory is about a 2 hour drive and is the highest point on the Island at 13,796 feet. Star gazing from the observatory is a must see.

This list is just a handful of the activities the Eastside of the Big Island has to offer. A copy of 101 Things To Do While on the Big Island is also available in the house.

Notes:
This is a Riverside and simultaneously Oceanfront, 9.02 acre estate. This is truly a one of a kind property and represents the authentic, Old Hawaii at its best. On one side is the open ocean, located near one of the best surfing spots in Hawaii and bordered on the other side by the Honoli'i Stream with native jungle and numerous waterfalls on the property. Honoli'i Surf Park is not accessed through the estate as access to the estate is private. However you can see the surfers and body boarders who have entered the Honoli'i Surf Park from well above the subject property using public access; no one can enter the property by water, foot or vehicle. Gated, private, and including a very rare access ramp for launching into the river. Walk from your front porch to the expanse of lawn and out into your huge yard. From there you can get into the river or the ocean by swimming, boat, kayak, surf board or stand up paddle board, you choose. Paddle or swim out to the waves and surf.
