Overview

East End Yacht Rental Photos and Description

2 cabin catamaran, each with their own bathroom

Alternate Latitude is an award-winning 44 foot Voyage Catamaran and Captain Steve has been sailing for over 20 years. He has carefully outfitted Alternate Latitude with a fresh & comfortable exterior & interior, with all new navigational equipment & other electronics, cushions & linens, stereo (MP3’s – yes!) and electric heads (toilets) in all bathrooms. You will experience the security of a qualified Captain, local knowledge and flair on a comfortable & recently updated beautiful sailing vessel.

Alternate Latitude offers 2 queen staterooms, each with own bathroom. The boat comes outfitted with toys aplenty, with 2 stand-up paddle boards, snorkel equipment for the whole gang, floaties & even a tube to pull behind the 5-passenger, 40 horse-power Zodiac dingy. Travel to multiple Caribbean islands via your own personal charter & visit coves & islands that you couldn’t easily get to if you stayed in a hotel without paying for all the extra travel costs (ferries, taxis, etc.).

Wake up to a breakfast of fresh local fruit & home-made treats from Chef Deb, then either jump in the sea for a refreshing swim/snorkel or take a hike on the trails that lead you to historical spots complete with amazing views. A light & healthy lunch will await you back on the boat – after that is a perfect time for an afternoon nap in the shade or chasing turtles on one of the stand-up paddle boards. Wind up the day with a little happy hour before a sumptuous dinner under the stars or opt for the delicious local West Indian fare at places such as Foxy’s or The Bitter End.

Alternate Latitude offers 3 kinds of charters – Captain only, half-board or all-inclusive:

For the Captain only option, Steve & Deb will take care of sailing the boat and will arrange an itinerary with you that meet your requirements taking into account weather, feasibility etc. You will be responsible for provisioning, cooking and cleaning. It’s a way to save money on your charter and experience a relaxed, casual sailing vacation. All toys and amenities included, so you enjoy the comfort and amenities of a crewed yacht without the expense of gourmet cuisine or the limitation of dining on board. Extra costs on Captain only charters are provisions (food and drinks) for your group and the captain, fuel, ice, local permits, customs & immigration, mooring balls, fuel, water – basically anything but the boat & captain/crew.

Captain Only: per week: 1-4 pax

We provide the cleaning (dishes, galley, daily bathroom cleaning, etc.) in addition to the Captain's Famous Rum Cake $6900 + expenses

Captain Only Deluxe including expenses (customs fees, mooring fees, fuel, ice) = $7800

Half Board 1-4 Pax

The half-board option includes 7 breakfasts, 4 lunches & 3 dinners - Beer & wine are included. Chef Deb will work with you to create a menu that fits your preferred palates & diets.

Half Board Rates:

Winter/Spring 2015

2 pax $9,000, 3 pax $9,300, 4 pax $10,200

The all-inclusive option is just that - all meals & a full bar. Don’t worry about a thing.

All-inclusive:

Winter/Spring 2015

2 pax = $9,500, 3 pax= $10,000, 4 pax = $11,000

*** For both half-board & all-inclusive options, all extra costs & fees as listed in the captain only option are included.

Charters are typically for 7 nights and can start and end on any day convenient to you and the yacht’s availability.

We can pick up and drop off in the US or BVI so when looking for flights check them both.

Last minute charters? You bet. If our calendar is open, and you are ready to vacation within the next 2 weeks, ask about our last minute booking special!

We are able to perform your wedding & vow renewals! Ask us about our wedding/honeymoon & anniversary packages.

Alternate Latitude welcomes broker inquiries!

About Steve Schlosser

Steve holds a 100 ton USCG Masters License. He has 20 years sailing experience, he spent 14 years racing in and around Galveston bay, mostly on J24s but also on J22s, J105s and J109s. He has crossed the gulf of Mexico seven times and in 2011 alone put just over 10,000 sea miles under his keel while sailing solo from Texas to the Virgin Islands as well as completing a few deliveries. Prior to buying Alternate Latitude he owned a variety of boats including everything from a Sunfish to a Tayana 37.

He has owned several successful small businesses, he spent 12 years as a financial planner, then in 2003, he and one of his best friends started a medical equipment business. Seven years later he took off on an open ended cruise, however, missing his better half Deb, he decided it was time to figure out a way to get her to join him. The charter plan was hatched. He will provide Captain only charters until she can make it down here.

Steve loves the outdoors and is looking forward to sharing his love of sailing and the water with you.

When available Deb will be joining us to help make your vacation extra special.

Deb was born & raised in Brownsville TX, and grew up on the beach with a strong love for water. At 25, she bought a one-way ticket to the USVI and found her calling in all things natural, especially food. After discovering eco-culture & a healthy, fresh diet at Maho Bay Camps, Deb worked for 15 years first with Whole Foods Market and then with the top natural products and brands in the world. She kept sneaking back to the Caribbean on vacations to sail (her other love) and crossed paths with Steve. A dream was born to encompass the love for all things natural while creating tropical adventures on the water. Deb brings 20 years of natural foods experience to the table, with a fresh & gourmet spin on a fun, festive vacation menu that you can feel good about. Organic produce, local baked goods & fresh, local fish when available.

Why Steve Schlosser chose East End

We love sailing in the US and British Virgin islands, the Islands are close together and well protected. Having the ability to move easily from one island to the next via Alternate Latitude will enhance your vacation(no ferries, packing and unpacking).

From the boat you can do it all, whether you want to snorkel, hike, explore or just sit back and relax.

What makes this yacht unique

Alternate Latitude sails everyday for a few hours, it doesn't take long to get to the next island. Each island offers a new adventure, whether you are looking for quiet family anchorages or the party spot, the Virgin Islands have what you are looking for and we would love to show it to you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Steve, Thanks so much for the Great trip. We all enjoyed it but James had a blast getting to sail with you. I can't think of anything I can recommend to make what you do any better. Having chartered with 4 other Cats in the past, I really think your talents as a sailor and Captain combined with the fact that Alternate Latitude is certainly a beautiful, comfortable and capable cruiser with a wonderful back story, will make a terrific charter for anyone either a novice or seasoned cruiser.

The destinations and routes were well thought out to accommodate my wife's desire for smooth sailing and anchorages and my Sons desire to sail. When Deb comes in to round our your crew, I'm sure things will get even better!

Thanks again for the fun and memorable vacation. We look forward to sailing with you again next Spring, as we discussed.

Regards,

BEST EVER!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second year we have sailed on Alternate Latitude. We will never go back to bareboating again. Not only are Deb and Steve extremely personable and ready to cater to your every need, but they are extremely professional, immensely talented, tons of fun, highly skilled, and extremely experienced. Alternate Latitude is a very comfortable, spotless, well appointed boat. Capt Steve and Deb go out of their way to make you feel that "their home is your home" during your stay. Deb, a superb and creative chef, spoiled us on every possible occasion. Her creative recipes, made from scratch and fresh ingredients, and eagerness to please made every meal a wonderful delight. The boat is well stocked with paddle boards, snorkeling equipment, noodles, etc. Their intense knowledge of the islands allowed us to visit many secluded places we would not have found on our own. Coming to the Virgin Islands/BVIs is our favorite vacation and sailing with Deb and Capt Steve make it absolutely perfect.

Alternate Latitude Catamaran Sailing and Island Tripping

  • 5 of 5

We are 3 professional couples from IN, MO and AR having just finished the trip of a lifetime on the Alternate Latitude being treated like royalty or like some of us put it, "like Rock Stars" by Capt Steve and First Mate Deb. Steve and Deb are professional and fun, taking care of us and all details with excellent customer service. They customize each chartered trip, keeping their guests interests at the forefront. All meals prepared by Deb were excellent; presentation, quality, amount and taste (fresh, mostly organic ingredients and homemade bread daily, for example). Yummy rum cake too! Our primary objectives were sailing, relaxing and snorkeling. Steve put us on great snorkeling spots where we saw rays, turtles, Nurse shark, various fish, fans and coral. While sailing we were blessed to see a baby humpback whale and several dolphin actually began swimming along side the boat. At one hot spot Steve and Deb made sure we arrived before other vacationers. We came away with pristine photos of our group just as throngs of others came with no hope of a clear shot. Their catamaran is extremely clean and tastefully decorated. All 6 of us cannot think of anything they could have done better. Thanks Steve and Deb! We came away with all objectives met, pampered and spoiled, suntanned and relaxed. We loved our vacation and want to do it again⛵️

alternate Latitude Catamaran

  • 5 of 5

The 6 of us chartered the Alternate Latitude for a week cruising the BVI's. The boat is owned by the Captain and his wife who was also the chef on board. All of Deb's meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) were delicious and

Captain Steve's rum cake was out of this world. Cocktails were available whenever we desired as well as wine and other beverages. We all were so well taken care of by both Deb and Steve.

The Catamaran was well appointed and we all enjoyed being on board. We all felt so welcome in their nautical home and would highly recommend this boat to anyone who is interested in a similar experience.

The best way to see the British Virgin Islands

  • 5 of 5

Seeing the British Virgin Islands and US Virgin Islands aboard a catamaran is an amazing experience. Traveling with Deb and Steve on the Alternate Latitude through these islands made for a unforgettable trip. The food Deb served was not only delicious it was healthy and she literally made everything from scratch. If we had tacos she would hand roll the tortillas. Everything Deb served was fantastic and the rum cake Steve makes is out of this world. If anyone is able to get that recipe please send it to me. Steve is a great captain and could not have been more accommodating to our needs and knows literally everything about every island. We had a memorable time exploring new snorkel sites, beach bars, restaurants, and relaxing on the boat. If you have a request the answer was always yes and both Deb and Steve went out of there way to please their guests. I will cherish every minute of the trip that I was able to spend with my parents, husband and good friends. If you are thinking about booking this trip, treat yourself and do so immediately. You will not be disappointed.

Best way to celebrate wedding anniversary and 40th birthday!!!

  • 5 of 5

I'll be honest and say that we were a little nervous before we got there as we have never chartered a boat before. My husband was worried about privacy and that he would get bored. I was nervous that I would get seasick and that I would miss being on land. However, after 10 minutes on board, we knew it was a great decision for us. We were never bored, and there was ALWAYS something to do! Privacy is not an issue and we never once felt confined! I did not plan the trip beforehand, rather trusted them to show us what the BVI's had to offer- and they did not disappoint. Everyday was an unbelievable adventure including amazing snorkeling, a spa day at St. Peter's, bar hopping and lobsters on the beach in Anegada, hiking on Virgin Gorda, and docking in completely secluded spots. Steve and Deb intuitively knew our needs as their guests and were extremely accommodating and gracious.

Steve is a great Captain and knows the waters like the back of his hand. His sailing abilities are second to none. Deb is not only an amazing chef and bartender, but her passion for cooking and for life are contagious. Above all, they both love what they do...and it is evident!

We enjoyed every moment and are already planning our next visit with Deb and Steve on Alternate Latitude!

I do not know where to begin. Steve and Deb are the most honest and hard working people you will find. Down to earth and fun to spend time with. They will not disappoint. They cover every last detail. I would highly recommend the all inclusive package. Deb is an amazing chef. The boat is very clean and has everything you will need for your vacation. They know the area very well. We will book again with Steve and Deb aboard Alternate Latitude and recommend to our friends. Thank You !!!
