4-Bedroom Farmhouse, Sleeps up to 8 people, Families, John O'Groats, Caithness

Situated within walking distance from the globally famous John O’Groats (the end of the road), the Ha Farmhouse is one of the most North Eastern self-catering accommodation available in the UK. The house sleeps up to 8 people and is available all year round.

The traditional farmhouse situated on a working farm has been in the Cowe family for over three generations. Having been recently re-furbished the house offers a high quality accommodation with a very clean, modern and exquisite look which we are sure you will love.

The large fully fitted kitchen is well equipped with, dish washer, fridge and electric range cooker. The dining table seats 8 people and French doors open out onto the patio area for enjoying a barbecue on a mild summer’s evening.

One double bedroom is located downstairs while the other two along with the twin room is upstairs. All have newly fitted carpets, modern décor and we are sure you will have a comfortable night’s sleep.

What’s Included: Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and household cleaning products. Our welcome pack contains fresh bread, milk, butter, tea, coffee, sugar and selection packs of biscuits. Also awaiting our guests will be a bottle of red or white wine along with a selection box of chocolates. What better way to relax after making your journey to John O'Groats!

Directions: From Wick take the A99 north and continue to John O’Groats, on entering the village and passing the Post Office take the first on your left A836 to Thurso (directly opposite the Seaview Hotel). The Ha Farmhouse is directly facing you and driveway entrance is the first on your right (second driveway).

From Thurso take the A836 to John O’Groats, pass by Gills, Canisbay and Huna. We are on the left just before the Seaview Hotel.

A Bit More About The Area: Why not use the private foot path down to the beach and enjoy the beautiful views of Stroma and the Orkney Islands. Take a stroll to John O’Groats harbour, book various sea life adventure trips that let you cruise the Pentland Firth, pass rugged cliff scenery and explore the rich coastline. What better way to see Atlantic grey seals, dolphins, puffins, razorbills, kittiwakes and perhaps even one or two killer whales. If your feeling a bit more adventurous why not try the white-water RIB experience adventure, all available on your door step.

A visit to John O’Groats is not complete without exploring the famous Stacks of Duncansby, situated not far from Duncansby Head, where there is also a lighthouse. Here you can explore the area by different walks overlooking the Orkney Islands. There is also a lovely beach called Sannick that is worth a visit and if you’re lucky you might come across some seals basking in the sun while being there.

The nearest main towns are Wick and Thurso, both located around the same distance away from John O’Groats (approx. 17 miles) or 20 minutes by car. Both towns have a selection off shops, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, swimming pools etc.

The globally famous John O’Groats is virtually on your door step with shops, café, tourist information, the famous Lands End to John O’Groats sign, various wildlife cruises, white-water RIB experience adventure and the passenger ferry which makes daily trips to Orkney and offers a variety of tours.

Seaview Hotel is walking distance from us which offers a fresh selection of local produce and large range of malt whiskies. The Schoolhouse Restaurant is another good option for those wanting a night off from cooking, offering a superb selection of fresh local produce and is in the village of John O’Groats about 10-15 minutes walk away.

Notes: The Ha Farmhouse offers very spacious accommodation that is family orientated, luxurious and comfortable. We have a dedicated Playroom for children of all ages with toys for younger kids, books, board games, DVD player and Playstation 2 with a selection of games. Or just a room for teenagers to hang out in on their own away from adult company. Adults can relax in the bright spacious Lounge with TV/DVD or sit in our Sun Room and play a game of chess, or just enjoy the sunshine. The fully fitted Kitchen is equipped with fridge, dishwasher, electric range cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and all other essentials that you would have in your own kitchen. The Utility Room is equipped with freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. The house has oil fired central heating with radiators throughout. There is a large garden with patio area and French doors from the Kitchen/Dining room. Garden is fenced and gated. Patio furniture and BBQ.

A Charming Getaway

A great getaway: had a beautiful drive through Scotland till the GPS ran out of road, marking our arrival to the Ha Farmhouse. The Ha is well equipped, nicely furnished, spacious and clean upon our arrival, the playroom was highly appreciated. The welcome pack went down a treat. The weather was particularly good considering the time of year allowing us to take a few long walks along the coast and a visit to Orkney which is great if a little surreal.

We stayed for a week at The Ha which has to be the best self catering house we have been in. The house is finished to a very high standard with the bonus of a games room with PS2 to keep the kids occupied. There are superb views across to Stroma and Orkney. John o'Groats is a five minute walk and there is easy access to a pebble beach.
The patio at the back of the house is great to soak up the abundant Caithness sun.
There is plenty to see and do in the area our highlights being the trip to Orkney and the speedboat trip from Wick harbour.
The ha is a great place to come back to after a busy day.
Will definitely be back.

Best Holiday House

We stayed at Windy Ha Farmhouse for a week. It was the cleanest most comfortable place with lovely friendly owners. There was ample space for lots of children and four adults and we were really able to relax with the house having so many well thought out communal areas as well as the luxurious bedrooms. As with other rentals the emphasis was not about getting out of the house all day but actually enjoying being there because it felt like home. Thank you.

Fantastic holiday home for all ages

We have stayed in many holiday accommodations all over the UK, the Ha Farmhouse is the cleanest of all. Owners Catherine and Andrew are very friendly. They have put up Christmas trees and decorations and even left a large Christmas hamper for us. The house is lovely and comfortable.

Unlike other self-catering holiday homes where my wife has to start the holiday with the washing up (usually the utensils and cutlery etc were so dirty, they had ‘bits’ of last occupants’ dinners left behind), the Ha’s kitchen is so clean and well equipped. Everything needed is there. (More than you will need, in fact.)

Even though the weather is awful during our stay, we have had a wonderful time and will certainly stay there again for our next visit to the Highlands.

We will certainly recommend this Farmhouse to all our friends.

If you are staying anywhere near John O Groats you could not do better than this property. Everything was to the highest standard and the welcome we received from the owners was wonderful. Eggs, bread and milk, butter and marmalade in the 'fridge. A bottle of wine, chocolates and a vase of flowers to greet us. Comfortable beds, well fitted out bath and shower rooms, we didn't want to leave we were so comfortable. If you are into cooking, the kitchen was perfect. Sounds as though we are going 'over the top' but it was as near perfect as you can get. And the sun shone a bit.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
