Cosy 1 bedroom apartment in a historic canal house in a quiet and very popular residential area on the Amsterdam city island 'Prinseneiland', The island is like an old fashioned village within the center of Amsterdam, and is inhabited by a nice mixture of artists, expats and traditional Amsterdam people, close to the canals and main city’s attractions.
The apartment has a very nice feel with an 'authentic' style, an open, fully equipped kitchen in the living-room, a private bathroom with shower, wireless internet, a TV with international channels and of course a coffee maker. There are a double bed and a couch that can accommodate up to 3/4 people.
Everything in this apartment is in great condition!
The neighbourhood is ideal located at about a 10 minutes walking distance from the busy city center with lots of restaurants and shops, The Ann Frank House, the Central Railway Station, the Red Light District, Dam Square and Westerpark and 3 nice markets on Mondays (arts and crafts-), Wednesdays (organic-) and Saturdays (farmers-).
In short, the perfect place to stay when in Amsterdam!
I'm Emmy and I'm an artist. I live and work in Amsterdam downtown and I just started recently a vacation rental apartment in this beautiful part of Amsterdam.
Emmy Brink purchased this apartment in 2013
I fell in love with Amsterdam, especially with this unique part of the center. After a lot of travelling, this place felt like home.
This ground floor apartment in a historic canal house, is located in a quiet and very popular residential area on the Amsterdam city island 'Prinseneiland', The island is like an old fashioned village within the center of Amsterdam, and is inhabited by a nice mixture of artists, expats and traditional Amsterdam people, close to the canals and main city’s attractions, shops, restaurants and bars.
This wonderful apartment made our trip to Amsterdam unforgettable. The apartment was absolutely lovely and so comfortable, and Emmy was a wonderful and very gracious host. It is just as described, and we can only echo others' praise. We loved the neighborhood and quickly felt at home, and we are still talking about our favorite neighborhood restaurant. A perfect base in Amsterdam!
We have loved coming "home" to this wonderfully appointed cozy home in the Jordaan. Public transportation is near, the supermarket is close by, and the Harlaam shopping district make this the perfect stop for a short or long term stay. Emmy has also been very helpful as our "go-to" guide when we needed aid to navigate the area. The apartment is cute, well-appointed and exactly what my husband and I were looking for in a safe neighborhood with so much to offer. Don't hesitate booking this ground floor apartment (in a city where 3rd and 4th floors are the norm) - you won't be disappointed!
What a wonderful and gracious hostess Emmy is! We felt right at home, and the neighborhood is delightful and quiet. Only minutes away by foot to the train station, or take the bus! Emmy provided a an excellent map with local eateries and shops highlighted. The local tavern she recommended was excellent, friendly and reasonably priced. Do consider staying at this property; it is all a traveler needs, including comfort and privacy! Oh, and be sure to check out Emmy's beautiful artworks. Love them!!
We had an amazing stay in this delightful apartment. The location is fantastic! It's just a few minutes from the Haarlemmerdijk which is a great commercial strip with just about every type of store or cafe one could want. Emmy is an truly excellent host! She is super sweet, for one thing, but she is also committed to making sure you have a good stay. She greeted us on arrival and provided a nice intro to the apartment and the area. She gave a uselful little annotated map of the area she created that we used a ton, especially for restaurant recommendations. Having a ground floor place was great. This was our fourth visit to Amsterdam and I have to say, I didn't miss having stairs. The kitchen is very well equipped and it was convenient to have a washing machine. There is no dryer but our items dried really quickly on the drying rack Emmy provides with the apartment. I commend Emmy for being really responsive. Whenever we needed anything, we texted and got a very quick reply. She was also super quick about addressing problems. Someone had gotten wax on the iron and although I assured Emmy that I didn't need a replacement, she still got a new one to us the very next day. There was also a minor issue with the heat up floors (awesome feature by the way) and she made sure the problem was addressed right away. We took advantage of her offer of using her bikes free of charge for two days and appreciated the opportunity to tool around without having to worry about returning the bikes at a specific time. We both absolutely loved the area. The apartment is on one of six little islands near the Joordan (another favorite Amsterdam neighborhood). It's a very residential neighborhood and while there were certainly tourist like us about, it didn't feel at all touristy. Great apartment, great location, gay friendly, great host. Thanks Emmy!
We were so lucky to find this family friendly apartment in Amsterdam. My husband and two children ages 1 and 4 felt very comfortable and safe in this neighbourhood with plenty of parks and greenspace to play. The kitchen and laundry facilities was incredibly useful. Everything was within walking distance: great food, sights, groceries and shopping...
Thank you Emmy for being so very accommodating and kind to our family!
Now we are back in Canada and dreaming of prinseniland and all the beautiful canals.
