About Bill Houck
Bill & Tracy, during a 2005 visit to Bend, fell in love with the Tumalo Lake property and the original cabins which had been built in the 1930s. After moving to Bend in 2007, several years were spent obtaining necessary land use and building permits and trenching 1 1/2 miles to bring in electricity and phone. Construction began in 2009. The Hillside Cabin was completed in October 2011. The Creekside Cabin was completed in June, 2012. The Lakeside Cabin was completed in June, 2013. Eventually, an additional cabin and a central lodge will be built.

Why Bill Houck chose Bend
Central Oregon, and Bend, Oregon in particular, are well reknown for both Summer and Winter sports. Enthusiasts from near and far visit for hiking, biking (road and mountain), skiing (Nordic and Alpine), snow shoeing, boating, fly fishing, rock climbing, etc. Tumalo Lake Lodge is ideally situated in the middle of the nationally known 'Phil's Trail' mountain biking trail system. In Winter, these and other trails and shelters form an extensive snow shoeing/x-country trail network. Tumalo Falls (97 feet tall) is a 3-4 mile hike away. Tumalo Creek, 2 miles away, affords fly fishing opportunities. While staying at Tumalo Lake you are staying on a private square mile of forested land surrounded by the Deschutes National Forest but still only 12 miles to Bend.
