San Miguel de Allende House Rental Photos and Description
4 bedroom, 4 1/2 baths in a beautiful, park-like setting with many mature trees
The Treehouse is an incredible three-story home (with its own 4-person elevator!!) located in an exclusive, gated community of only 6 grand residences. Set in the most sought after part of San Miguel, the homes in this private enclave were all designed and built by the famous Hawaiian architect, Norman Lacayo. His vision was to create a seamless juxtaposition of modern angles with the warmth and charm of old, colonial Mexico and the tranquility of nature. Because 2 large, mature trees on the building site were saved and incorporated into the walls of this home when it was designed, locals refer to it as 'The Treehouse'.
Hallmarks of this elegant home are the soothing shades of charcoal, cafe, cream, gold, deep red and violet. The clean lines, contemporary furnishings and soothing decorative style are a refreshing change from the sometimes overwhelming bright Mexican colors and tiles!
Besides its beauty, the Treehouse also enjoys the most prestigious locale available in San Miguel; on the beautiful tree-lined street, Cañadita de Los Aguacates. It is situated right next to the historic Sierra Nevada Hotel and very close to the luxurious Rosewood and Matilda boutique hotels. Only 1 short block away is the Parque Juarez (our beautiful, tree and plant-filled park) ,where you'll find a popular basketball court, morning exercise classes (yoga/zumba/tai chi), a myriad of walkers/runners all hours of the day, a modern playground for the kids, various ice cream and snack vendors, local marching bands practicing for their upcoming parade, and possibly even young men honing their bullfighting skills - without the bulls of course! Only 4.5 blocks away, along the charming street Calle Recreo, is the Jardin Principal (the main square in the historic center), where you'll find daily/nightly music and art events and various local food vendor carts.
When staying at the Treehouse, you'll enjoy being within an easy, flat walk to absolutely everything. Yet, when you are ready to return, you'll enter a peaceful, private and safe abode. Guests frequently comment on the utter tranquility one feels while relaxing in this quiet, extremely comfortable and safe home. Usually, the loudest thing you'll hear is the mourning doves singing outside your windows!
When you first enter our home from the front (ground floor), immediately on your right, you'll find our large, guest bedroom with king-sized bed, private bath, wooden desk and leather desk chair - if you must work while on vacation! Its large windows look out onto a cobble-stoned entrance area shaded by large, mature trees. Take our elevator, or the stairs, and ascend to the first floor where you will find the other 3 bedrooms. These bedrooms are comprised of 2 master suites, each with a king bed and private bath and an additional cozy room next to the guest suite that's perfect for children, teens or a nanny, as it has its own private bath and a twin daybed with an additional twin pull-out trundle bed beneath. On the second floor (top floor), with views across the park and the church spires of San Miguel, you'll find a very well-stocked kitchen, wet bar, living room, dining area for 8 and a glorious, outdoor entertainment area. Another more intimate patio is just off the dining room and kitchen; a quiet, restful spot where you can take your morning coffee while listening to the soothing sound of water flowing in our pretty, cantera-stone fountain.
To make your stay even more sumptuous, all beds have thick memory foam toppers, luxurious, Egyptian cotton sheets (400 and 600 thread-count) and super-soft, micro-plush blankets. To keep you warm during those chilly times of year, we also have micro-plush electric blankets and warm duvets.
Our 'whole-house' water purification/treatment system allows our guests to safely drink water from any tap in our home. Our new, stainless steel refrigerator uses this same water to provide cold water in the door and ice in the freezer.
All utilities and housekeeping service 3 times/week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) is included in the rental prices. If needed, additional housekeeping and/or a private cook can be made available for an additional fee.

We are a family of three: 2 retired optical engineers & our very sweet 11-year-old daughter. Back in the 90's we started our own small, international optical design & manufacturing company. We sold most of our products in the exciting, cutting-edge area of live-cell research & drug discovery.
Through our company, we had the opportunity to travel to many incredible places in the world, and were exposed to a myriad of amazing cultures, languages & people. These international experiences had a huge impact on us, shaping our world view in a big way. So much so, that we set about crafting a part-time ex-pat life for ourselves in 2 of our favorite countries - Mexico & France.
We have found wonderful friends in our adopted countries, who generously share their lives with us while patiently helping us muddle our way through their languages & cultures. Our daughter is now tri-lingual, tri-literate & tri-cultural (English, Spanish & French) and the three of us are thrilled with the unconventional life we've chosen!
We currently own homes in the US, Mexico and France & when we aren't able to use them, we offer them to other adventurous people like you!

Why Owner chose San Miguel de Allende
We first saw San Miguel almost 20 years ago & swore that somehow...someday...we would find a way to live here! We began our search for a home 7 years ago via the internet. Then, 5 years ago, we took the plunge & starting living in San Miguel part of the year, still looking for our dream home, while renting other people's lovely homes in the meantime. We found that most homes in San Miguel don't offer a lot of privacy and outdoor space because they are essentially townhouses (sharing 3 of their walls with other homes). We also found many homes are often are quite dark and cave-like inside. So, when we saw the Treehouse, (located right next to Parque Juarez), and we saw the extensive, lushly landscaped gardens with large mature trees and how incredibly light-filled, spacious and private it felt both inside and out, we knew we'd finally found our home!
