The townhouse is a three bedroom, three bathroom on Lake Arena with gorgeous lake views. 1800 square feet 2 story townhouse.
FYI-This property is a home and a place to 'get-away' and is not a resort. When staying at our home we ask that you furnish/replace supplies as we do not have a full-time property manager. However, we supply a starter kit of toilet paper, paper towels, liquid hand soap, dish soap and laundry detergent and we expect them to be replaced for the next guest. IF items are not replaced or replenished the charge will come out of your security deposit.
Your neighbors are Costa Ricans, very warm and charming people. Ticos enjoy seeing new faces in their community and happy to help if need be.
The townhouse has modern conveniences and amenities of the U.S. however we wanted to keep the Costa Rican charm and culture, hence the furniture is and looks Costa Rican. When we travel we want to experience the culture and the people of the country. If this is what you are looking for, look no further.
The townhouse is located close to Tilaran, Tiliran is about a 10 minute drive from the townhouse. You can find just about everything you would need in Tiliran; fruit and vegetable stands, pharmacies, medical clinic, doctors, dentists, bakeries, restaurants etc.
You do not have to drive into Tilaran for groceries. There is a market/grocery store walking distance from the townhouse. The market is located in Tronadora, which is the town townhouse Lora is located. You may walk or drive, depending on how much you plan on purchasing. The meats are much better quality than the store in Tilaran. We found out about the market from our Costa Rican neighbor. In San Luis (2 minutes from the townhouse) there are restaurants (Las Brisas and San Luis yacht club restaurant and bar), two small convenience stores (do not expect to find a 711 or Circle K) and boat rentals. It is only a few minutes away by car.
We are americans and our goal is to retire in Costa Rica. We purchased the townhouse in preparation for retirement. We currently live in the US.
First, we have several years experience managing and renting to travelers on VRBO. We manage two out of state (US) vacation rentals and now a vacation rental in Costa Rica.
We have been renting our condo in San Diego since 2007 and recently acquired an assignment to manage a second vacation rental also in San Diego. I hope this information puts your mind at ease if you choose to rent from us.
Our Costa Rica vacation rental has an on-sight property manager. She is American and has lived in Costa Rica for over 20 years. She is always available to answer any questions.
We picked the Lake for the mild temperatures, breezes from the lake and the gorgeous vistas. Another reason was to live with and among the people of the country. We are 1 hour and 1/2 from Liberia airport. The two lane paved highway from Liberia south is under construction and once completed will be 4 lanes. We are only a 2 hour drive to the pacific coast.
We really fell in love with the lake views from the dinning/living room and the views around the lake, and the charm of the town and the people.
The townhouse is a two minute drive to San Luis Yacht club, which has bar and restaurant and lake access. Great place to relax and enjoy the gorgeous views of the lake. We have not tried the restaurant/bar yet. We usually have lunch or dinner and of course a glass or bottle of wine at Las Brisas, which is about a 3 minute drive from the townhouse. Waterfalls are just outside of Tilaran (10 minutes from the townhouse), and is about a 30 minute drive from the townhouse, you have to pay to get into the waterfalls. You can also pay to horseback ride to all 4 waterfalls. You can pack a lunch or have lunch made or eat before or after, there is a restaurant conveniently located next door to the waterfall tour guide's office.
The townhouse is across the lake from the volcano the drive to the volcano is magnificent it will take about an hour. We usually stop at the Cafe Macadamia for brealfast, it is on the road to the volcano. There are plenty of activities; zipline, hot springs, horseback riding, hiking shopping and restaurants on the way to the volcano. After zip lining and visiting the hot springs or whatever you do, we recommend eating at Las Brasitas in La Fortuna. The restaurant can be found on the internet.
The cloud forest and hanging bridges, botanical garden and butterfly observatory are about a 2.5 hour drive, in the opposite direction of the volcano, we recommend a 4 wheel drive to get to these sights.
