Located just a short walk from the Ocean Park beach access (the best access point on the beach with a small creek for safe water play) and the famous “Jack’s Mercantile” it is the ideal location for a relaxing weekend get away or a long vacation. Enjoy long walks on the beach, go clamming, or exploring all of the festivals and wonders that Long Beach Peninsula has to offer. We are near Ocean Park School playground. www.jetsamslanding.com
Chris and I are both in Mortgage Banking so time to relax very important to us. We fell in love with Ocean Park and the Long Beach area on a weekend trip with our kids in 2003. We purchased our home in 2004 and enjoy a lot of great family time clamming, hiking, horse back riding, fishing, boating and just relaxing at the beach.
Kim Barry purchased this house in 2003
Jetsam's Landing is located very close to the Ocean Park Beach approach on Bay Ave so you can walk or if you like to drive on the beach you can enjoy the 25 miles of beaches and it is easy and fun. We are near 2 grocery stores, a pharmacy, shops, restaurants, a large park, and the Ocean Park School play ground so shopping or letting the kids play is very close. So no matter what you plans are for the day you can take a short walk or ride a bike. You can also drive on the beach
We love the lazy feel of being in the heart of a small sleepy beach town and being able to take a very short walk to the beach where we often see deer walk walking down the street at dawn and Bald Eagles on the snags on the sand dunes. We love having an evening fire in our fire pit or down on the beach, playing bad mitten on the lawn, or playing cards on the deck. Come for a weekend and stay for a life time.
The cottage has everything you need, but nothing over the top spectacular. We didn't find it up to our standards of cleanliness. But it was comfortable.
Never having been to Oceanpark, I was pleasantly surprise, it's a really beautiful, uncrowded beach. The house is close enough too the beach that we could walk. We were told to wash sand off before entering the house, since they use septic but there is no hose bib outside, so we improvised with a bucket with water in it for our feet and sandy clothes, which we swished around to remove the sand. The house occomodated our group of three moms and our two kids, each nicely. The downstairs bedroom reeked of mold and my friend's four year old daughter was very sick. Upstairs seemed fine though. I didn't like cleaning the house at the end. We were required to clean the linens, vacuum, sweep, and mop the floor. Each of us had a toddler and a baby to take care of, so our last day was stressful trying to pack and clean. I'd rather have had the option of paying an extra $75 or so to avoid this hassle. I'd rather have spent that time enjoying breakfast and playing with the kids at the beach.
This charming house has a fire pit in the back yard and space for kids to play. There is a school just around the corner my kids loved to play at the playground when we weren't busy at the beach.
Jetsam's landing is the perfect beach house, simple and full of character. It had everything we needed (pots and pans, dishes, toys and bed time stories for my son, extra blankets, a fire pit and grill for outside entertainment etc...) We had 4 adults and 1 toddler and it was a perfect fit for us all.
The house is only a few minutes walk from the beach and a block or so away from Jack's Country grocery store and various restaurants. Long Beach is only a 15 minute or so drive, if you're looking for more touristy things to do.
Although we enjoyed traveling down to Long Beach to shop for souvenirs, ride go-karts, spend a few hours at the Funland arcade and Marsh's Free Museum it was nice to travel back to Ocean Park to feed the seagulls, make s'mores in the fire pit, and listen to the ocean.
I'd recommend taking the hour or so trip down to Astoria to check out the Goonies house and hike to the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse/Deadman's Cove if your vacation permits it.
I look forward to visiting Jetsam's Landing again next summer!
We came to the beach for a "family get away" with our adult children and granddaughter. The home fit us all well and we had a blast being able to have this family time. Granddaughter got to sleep in our room!!!
The home is older, so don't expect any fancy extras. It has the right feel for a beach rental and they have supplied all the necessary items to meet you cooking needs.
I feel they have priced the rental well. The location is perfect as it is near the two main stoes in Ocean Park, the restraints, as well as, the main beach entrance too!
The final highlight was it was a clam tide and we had perfect clamming weather, sun and light breeze with some of the best sized clams I have seen in over 30 years!!!
I'll be doing the trip again!
