My name is Zoltan. I was born and raised in Hungary and later moved to Key West, Florida, in the
United States. Not too long after my move, I met a beautiful Mexican girl named Alicia. It was her
dream to move back to Mexico, which we did. We have since married and have two Mexican-Hungarian
children: Lilu, age 3, and Dominik, age 15 months.
Shortly after we moved, I built our home, and later, this beautiful cottage – Hidden Paradise. Alicia and I
have a small building contracting business specializing in building and renovating homes on the beaches
Merida itself is a colonial city established by the Spanish. Nowadays, it is also a modern city but it still
honors its colonial heritage. We have found this to be the perfect place to raise our little family.
We moved here not knowing what was in store for us – and we found paradise. We hope you will visit
us and find paradise too.
By the way, both of us are fluent in English. I am fluent in Hungarian and Alicia is fluent in Spanish.
Zoltan Laszlo Toth purchased this cottage in 2010

Live near an authentic Mexican village
Airport pick up and drop off available at extra charge
Zoltan was great to work with, from the first email, to our last day there. What really struck me was how evident their love of this place is. It's immaculate, with gardens so charming and lush that it you are like me, you won't want to leave and go anywhere. It's a handy spot for taking off to explore the city enter, Celestun, cenotes and ruins, just a tad hard to get out the door with the back garden full of comfy chairs, soft lighting at night and a pool beckoning. I recommend this place highly and hope to get back myself someday to visit some more in the area. Hidden paradise, tropical garden is a very appropriate name! Thanks Zoltan.
My husband and I stayed in this wonderful casita for just over 2 heavenly weeks. The house could not have been any better! Cable TV, AC, Wi-Fi, and an absolutely comfortable bed. Everything was very clean and modern, the garden area was perfect with a swimming pool and a private bar! Zoltan and Alicia were more than accommodating and gracious with their time. The main reason for our trip to Mexico was for my husband to have some dental work done. Alicia put us in contact with her dentist, and Zoltan let us follow him to the office, he even went inside and made our appointments for us (we speak very limited Spanish). He then led us to a currency exchange center and also went inside there and did the communicating. After that he led us to a grocery store and made sure that we were confident in finding our way back to the house. Zoltan and Alicia also helped us figure out where we should go to sight-see and which places were must-sees. We explored Maya ruins, cenotes, town Centre in Merida', the northern and western coasts of the Yucatan Penninsula, the Maya museum, the Anthropological museum, and so much more. We also, by the way, had a GREAT experience with the dentist! She spoke English, and was very meticulous. It was, in our opinion, unbelievably cheap (my husband received 3 crowns and everything that goes into that, x-rays, and a cleaning for less than $600USD). We had such a great experience that I am planning to have some cosmetic procedures and eye surgery in Merida in the future. We will definitely be choosing to stay at Zoltan and Alicia's place, we could never beat the quality for the price! Lastly, as a woman from a very small town in Michigan, I was very nervous about my safety in Mexico. I can honestly say that I felt safer there than I do in the US, there are police EVERYWHERE! Any 'local' that we met was more than happy to help us, and then if they spoke English they thanked US for letting them practice their English. It was truly incredible! I though that I would include a lot of our experiences here incase someone might not be sold on Merida or this wonderful hidden paradise. Stay here, you will not be disappointed!!! Thank you Zoltan, Alicia, Lilu, and Dominik for an unforgettable vacation! Your Friends-Steve & Jen
This "casita" was very comfortable, clean and has an ideal private yard front and back within their walled compound, which was for our exclusive use. Zoltan and Alicia have worked very hard at creating this Hidden Paradise and have succeeded magnificently. Zoltan picked us up at the bus depot when we first arrived and stopped at the grocery store on the way to Teya so we could stock-up on groceries for which we were very grateful. Alicia set me up with their long distance call system so I could make an emergency call and it worked perfectly. There is a short walk to the delightful Hacienda Teya grounds, buildings and restaurant which we enjoyed touring and having a meal there. At the corner there is a local van (bus) that goes into the centre of Merida and runs all day. Hope to return one day and look forward to it. Thanks again Alicia and Zoltan for your thoughtfulness, kindness, and hospitality. Adios Amigos!
I am going to keep it short and sweet. You cannot get better than this. Impeccably clean, thoughtful, elegant accommodations. I still miss the bed and pillows and the glass doors. Perfect for families with young kids. Just awesome place and so affordable. Also the Hacienda Teya nearby has a fabulous dish called sopa de pavo oreintele, or something like that, that was amazing.
This was absolutely the best maintained and well take care of home I have stayed in. I can not say enough about how lovely this home is. Zoltan and Alicia have done such a wonderful job to make this house a real pleasure for their guests to stay in. They were so accomodating and gracious with their hospitality. Upon arrival, Zoltan said this was our home during our stay. And it truly felt like that. Everything was immaculate and in order. The house had every accomodation on site and we did not need to buy anything except for our groceries for the stay.
If I was to live in Merida, this would be the house I would want to live in. I will definately be coming back to stay here on my next trip to Merida. We had such a lovely time here, that we asked to stay one more night. And luckily Zoltan did not have other guests for the next day. It truly is a hidden paradise. Thank you so much Zoltan and Alicia!!
Our family of 4 (kids 9 and 3) enjoyed our stay at Zoltan and Alicia's very comfortable cottage. We were there for 4 nights in June (off-season) and it was the kids' first trip to Mexico. The house really did fit our needs quite perfectly. The highlights included the amazingly comfortable master bed, the secure parking (we had a rental car), a fresh mango every day from the tree out front, and the very relaxing swimming pool. Zoltan and Alicia have young children of their own, and let us use some of their floatie pool toys, which came in very handy.
With our rental car we were on the go quite a bit and so it was nice that the house is located right on the main highway. There, however, wasn't any traffic noise that we were aware of.
The town (Teya) is a typical poor Mexican town with nothing of interest to tourists -- no shops, parks, plazas, or anything like that. That said, we did walk around just to take it all in -- Mexico isn't all pretty towns and beaches -- there is a "real" Mexico that we wanted our kids to get a tiny taste of on this trip.
The one thing in Teya is a fabulous restaurant (Hacienda Teya) where we probably had the best Yucatecan meal of our entire vacation. You've got to go there at least once if you stay here!
Zoltan was extremely helpful to us, as previous reviewers have stated. He lent us his local cell phone and gave us good information about things to see and do in the area. It happened to be Father's Day and he brought us a six-pack of beer to help us celebrate! Very thoughtful!
