We built Moss Cottage 20 years ago and have had the pleasure of welcoming holiday makers to our charming cottage in the quiet township of Badenscallie ever since and have visitors who return each year to enjoy the brilliant views of the Summer Isles from inside and outside the cottage. The property is very well maintained by the owners who live nearby and personally look after the cottage. We have a nice living room with everything you will need for your comfort. Two sofas, tub chair, TV, DVD,Radio CD player and electric heating. The kitchen has a table with 4 chairs and all the normal appliances for your use. Cooker, Microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, coffee maker and so on. The double bedroom has great views to the sea and the twin bedded room is a big room with a fitted wardrobe. The bathroom has a bath and a shower above the bath, and also enjoys a nice wooden floor as does the hall and the vestible. You have a private garden with an outside bench for relaxing.

Moss Cottage is situated in the township of badenscallie and we run an active crofting business here with North Country Cheviots. Lambing time in April is always fun and later in the year you can watch the men clipping in the shed. Behind the cottage we have Conival and Ben More and the Fiddler, all ideal for walking and climbing on and the views from the top are ideal so remember to bring your camera. Badenscallie beach is the ideal place for swimming, bird watching and rock pooling. Also if you are a painter you will be inspired by the scenery.

The cottage is a five minute walk to the beach and is a safe haven for the kids to play in the sand. Ullapool as a 40 min drive away where you will find various shops for your provisions. We have the famous Summer Isles Hotel within walking distance for special meals and another local bar not far away that will cater for your needs. New to the area is the Piping School Cafe which serves lovely lunches and snacks.

Other Activities: Enjoy birdwatching, otter watching,whale watching. Infact, just enjoy the perfect peace and the wondeful views that we see everyday.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (British Pound) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • Additional charge is for your electric usage which is read by yourself upon arrival and by you before departure and we ask that you leave the money to cover your usage on a trust basis before you departure. Many thanks for your help with this system which we finds works very well.

    £150 deposit is payable when you make your booking with the remaining amount payable one month before your arrival. In the event of cancellation we will always endevour to re-let your chosen week and hope to be able to return your deposit to you. We would suggest that you may wish to take an insurance out to cover you in the case of any cancellations.

    Our aim is to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible and as we are a l family run business we pride ourselves in helping our guests at every opportunity and if their is anything you are not happy with in the course of your stay we ask that you let us know asap and we will rectify things for you to the best of our abilities.
  • We also have a fantastic 6 bedroom bungalow in the Black Isle that we offer for holiday accommodation which you will also find on this site - number 417774. The best base for touring the central highlands and beyond and we do find guests to the West Coast are also booking this house for other periods to go skiing and dolphin watching and to enjoy the sights in the highland capital of Inverness. This property has a large garden on a private site with superb views on to the mountains and Ben Wyvis.

Notes: Electric is payable by meter reading which you read upon arrival and before departure and money should be left for your usage on a trust basis. The current unit charge will be applied. The lets run from Sat to Sat at busy times but in the quieter winter months we can be flexible if you want to come at a quieter time of year and enjoy the peace and quiet we can offer. Arrival time is from 4pm and departure time if possible is by 10am. The key is left in the door for you arrival after 4pm so you are not rushing your journey. Sandra will come and say 'Hello' and welcome you upon your arrival and show you round your cottage. We have a wealth of local knowledge and will always find time to share information with you about good walks and places to eat and drink! The local Smokehouse is always worth a visit for some delicious food supplies.

Sandra, we loved your little house - it was so cosy and clean and the walk to the shore is so close - the web site does not do it justice and our dog - Ruben enjoyed his runs into the sea! Comfy beds and a great welcome pack of goodies - what more could we want, the weather was kind to us to as you were and look forward to seeing you all again nexe year if this little gem has not sold. We will book the big one if it has for next year!!

Magnificent Badenscallie.

We love this cottage and it must have one of the best views in the place. Perfect for sitting out in the garden and watching the ever changing views of the mountains, sea and sky. Watching Murdo and Jimmy working on the sheep is an added bonus too - it is good to see the traditional ways of life continuing in the area and we enjoyed watching the shearers in the big shed. The cottage is really warm and welcoming and is a great place to return to if you have had a good days walking on the hills nearby. The Macleod family provide highland hospistality at its best and we will be back Sandra, you have been warned... Best wishes to you all.

Perfect Peace.

My family and I stayed at Badenscallie for the first time this year and have already booked to come back next year. We just love the area and this super cottage is the perfect base to return to each evening.
It is warm and cosy with everthing we needed with the best views from the living room windows we could hope for! Beats the city life anytime! The evening stroll to the shore was a delight and the wildlife and islands are just a joy to behold and we can return to our life feeling refreshed after our visit to Moss Cottage. See you next year Sandra!

Brilliant Holiday

We have stayed at Badenscallie Cotts on a regular basis for the past few years and love to return to this area and the cottage which we know well. Moss Cottage is very comfortable especially the beds! The views are stunning and the ever changing scenery is breathtaking and we very much enjoy sitting outside in the evening with a bottle of wine watching the sun going down. The owners are perfect hosts and are around if you need them withour being intrusive. All we could want and we look forward to returning again next year. Thanks Sandra.
