Beautiful Relaxing Lakehouse
My wife and I, and our three kids (11,9,8) spent a week in August at the Lakehouse, before heading back for the new school year. It was a fantastic week of relaxation and fun. Our kids enjoyed swimming off the dock, exploring the rocky beach, and going out on the canoe. After tiring themselves out, they would come inside and wind down watching some TV (satellite), or playing ping pong in the downstairs den area.
My wife and I enjoyed relaxing on the deck area looking out over the lake and mountains, listening to some music, watching the hummingbirds, and listening to our kids laugh. Eventually we would join them for soem swimming and canoeing.
At night, we would sit out on the deck under the stars, and have dinner. The house is beautiful and well maintained, and there is plenty of room, without feeling crowded. One morning we got up earlier than usual, and watched the fog as it covered the lake, and then slowly dissipated. I know you can rent boats nearby, but we did not feel the need, as swimming, canoeing, and exploring occupied most of our days.
We enjoyed it so much, we went back in late October for a long weekend, and were able to see the tail end of the fall leaves changing. It was awesome. Also, though I know there are things to do nearby, we were content with hanging out at the lake the whole time (except for one grocery run). We did drive along the Nantahala River, and saw plenty of places to raft, etc...
The few questions we had were quickly answered by Bob and Debbie. We definitely plan to return. It is and undiscovered gem!
