About Manny David

We are 'retired' residents of Amelia Island and own and operate a small construction business as well as manage our 3 vacation rental properties. We came to Amelia Island as permanent residents in 2003 from the Northeast and made this peaceful island paradise our home.

Manny David purchased this house in 1997

Why Manny David chose Fernandina Beach

We purchased this property in 1997 as a weekend get away. We found that Amelia Island was easier for us to get to than braving the traffic to get to the New England beaches. We chose this property because it is located in the quiet north end neighborhood and has 300 feet of direct ocean front as well as Fort Clinch behind us. This end of the island is all residential, there are no hotels, condos, public beaches and very little traffic. Most of the properties are single family homes or duplexes. Our beach is beautiful white sand and is never crowded. We take long walks to the fishing pier. Our dogs love to run at the end of a long leash, dig holes in pursuit of whatever creatures and dive in the waves. This beach is also a great spot to swim, as it is not prone to rip currents and has a gradual slope to deeper water. Low tide is a great time to hunt for shark teeth or collect shells. It really doesn't get any better than this.

What makes this house unique

This a stilt house which gives us great views and a protected place to park cars and boats. We do welcome pets. We have 3 dogs of our own. That is Mister Buster in the picture and he has a twin Cairn Terrier, Mister Bronson who looks just like Toto. They have an older brother Zippy the porky Yorkie who also loves the beach. The main living area of this house is tile, the decks have a child/pet gate at the top of the stairs. This area of the beach always has a breeze so you can sit on either deck depending on your preferred view. The east deck has roll out awnings to provide shade during mid day.

Didn't want to leave!!

Didn't want to leave!!

This was my first experience in using VRBO and Chris was wonderful to work with. Once the glitches with the undeliverable emails was worked out, Chris really came through with answers to all my questions and concerns. (My husband is still amazed at how fast we got that phone call after sending out that email that one Sunday morning). The pictures are very close to being accurate. If anything they may be a little older as the furniture and decor in the home seems to be newer than the pictures let on. One heads up for future renters, the picture of the kitchen shows a Keurig, however it is not. This was not a problem but don't want to bring K-cups with you. You will need regular coffee for the pot. Also anyone who has any issues with stairs will need to be extra careful as the first step after turning up toward the house (the longer stair case) has a slightly higher rise and caught us off guard every time. There is also only one railing so the other side of the stairs is open. This might be a concern for someone with small children. I don't know if any future renters had mentioned this or not but one tile is missing from the wall in the master bath and the fixtures in the tub are a little loose. Again, this was all minor and did not detract from wonderful time we had. The home is not on the beach and you can not see the sand or the waves breaking, but I enjoyed having my coffee on the deck every morning listening to the sound of the surf breaking waiting for the sunrise. The beach is a short walk across the dunes and lots of shells etc. We saw deer in the back yard in the evenings as they made there way across to the dunes. We also had another visitor who left us a "gift" on the deck most every morning. Not sure what it was. May have been a racoon. The homes are very close to each other in this area, but very peaceful. No traffic noise or loud parties. Only saw the neighbor to the North once. Only other time we saw people was when we were on the beach. I can see where this would be an excellent place for traveling with your four legged companion. Nice yard in the back and lots for them to explore on the beach. Unfortunately we were not able to bring ours. We are already planning our return to the area

Our family fell in love with this spacious and comfortable beach house. We enjoyed four wonderful family filled days at this lovely home. The beach is directly across the street, a short walk over the dunes to the beach and water. The back yard was great for our dog. The house is roomy and comfortable with everything you need and more. We enjoyed spending time on the large front deck and it was a great comfort to have the awnings to keep the sun and heat off of us. The kids enjoyed sleeping on the back deck and watching all the wildlife. Not a night went by without several deer making a visit to our back yard. We definitely loved the location and short drive for groceries and shopping. We definitely will be back next year. A great family place!

Amelia Island Getaway

  • 3 of 5
I would have given this property 5 stars had the gas grill and dishwasher functioned. The stairway railing was not secure and dangerous for my elderly parents. The home could use a deep cleaning. The house is spacious and layout is nice. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you will need. Your dog can run around the big back yard. The ocean is directly across the street with no obstructing houses with a great view of the ocean. However the sand dunes are quit high so you cannot see the beach. Amelia Island is an awesome vacation destination. There are many outdoors activities to take advantage of and there are numerous great restaurants and shops.

Owner's Response: We appreciate the heads up on the railing and will take care of that immediately. Unfortunately, not all guests let us know when there are issues so we really appreciate the feedback. The dishwasher is new but after taking a look at it, there was a screw head that was preventing the door from closing and we fixed that easily. The gas grill has it's own tank, we don't supply the gas, but we have identified filling station locations in the guest book. The closest is about 1 mile away. We live on the Island, and it is a wonderful place to live and vacation, anytime there are questions or problems, we can be reached by phone, text or email and we are available within minutes.

Beautiful Spot! ..... and Deer EVERY Evening

  • 5 of 5
This location is truly a diamond in the rough. Wonderful area, good privacy. The ocean views are amazing. Easy access and a great beach for walking/playing. Our view to the west, the solitude of Fort Clinch State Park was a blessing. Every evening at sunset, a family of deer would cross the road in front of the house to venture out to the beach, words can't describe the beauty! Downtown Fernandina was easy to reach, quaint, with nice shops and restaurants. The owners are easy to work and good communication. We look forward to a return visit soon.

Delighttful House, Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5
We visited AI for the first time this past week. We stayed at this house for the week with our four kids and one little dog. It was a wonderful house, spacious and well-stocked. We LOVED the kitchen...that is the most room we have ever had in a vacation rental. The price was good. But the very best part was the location. It is at the north end of the island. The beach is just a very short walk across a non-busy road and the dunes/sand. (There is NO house between this one and the ocean) And the backyard is like a nature preserve backing right up to the state park Fort Clinch (which is a treat in itself). We saw deer, an armadillo, cardinals, lizards, and frogs all from the house. (We also saw dolphins, alligators, sharks, horseshoe crabs, and turtles while visiting the island) The house owners were always just an e-mail or phone call away and gave helpful information (like where to find shark teeth). And the neighbors were as friendly as can be. We really enjoyed our time there and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to ANYONE. So glad we stayed there.

A little piece of heaven on earth

  • 5 of 5
We have just spent 5 weeks here and we have had a wonderful time. The cottage offers excellent accommodation for a family, a couple, or to share with a friend. It is very well laid out and well equipped. The beach is easily accessible, quiet beautiful and peaceful. White sand as far as the eye can see. Biking is an excellent pastime....cycling over town for coffee and the newspaper, sitting in the sun doing the crossword, wandering round the cute little stores. Fort Clinch State Park lies behind the house and biking there is great, enjoying Floridian beauty again. We feel very possessive about our little corner in Florida but would certainly recommend it.

Our cottage is located in the Northern residential section of the Island where the beaches are private, there are no condos or commercial sites. The road is a dead end so the traffic is local and light. The cottage faces the ocean with unobstructed views and to the west is Fort Clinch State Park. We have full length decks both back and front. All three bedrooms have patio door access to the decks. Beach driving at various locations, shark tooth hunting, skate park, Historic Fort Clinch, sunset cruise, fishing, golf, all 2 miles or closer. Historic and quaint downtown has wonderful restaurants and shopping. Watch the sunset from Brett's patio. Dine at some of the best restaurants in Florida. Charter a fishing boat, take a ride to Cumberland Island for a stroll and dinner. Enjoy the new bike trails on Amelia and Big Talbot Islands.
