Spacious fully equipped beach front home on Historic and quaint Amelia Island. Ideally situated in a quiet neighborhood. We own the 300' of beach directly in front of the house. The Atlantic Ocean is your front yard, Fort Clinch State park is your back yard. Beautiful sun rises and sun sets. Five minutes to historic downtown Fernandina Beach. There are hiking and biking trails throughout the island and on the Talbot Islands just south of Amelia Island.
All bedrooms have walkouts to the decks, the master is on the ocean side.
Park your cars and boat under the house, take your boat to the free public boat launches. The fishing is famous, we have rivers, the inter-coastal, and you can charter a boat to fish the Atlantic Ocean or surf cast on our beach.
Enjoy the beach and rinse off the sand in the outdoor shower.
Fabulous golf courses open to the public.
We are 'retired' residents of Amelia Island and own and operate a small construction business as well as manage our 3 vacation rental properties. We came to Amelia Island as permanent residents in 2003 from the Northeast and made this peaceful island paradise our home.
Manny David purchased this house in 1997
We purchased this property in 1997 as a weekend get away. We found that Amelia Island was easier for us to get to than braving the traffic to get to the New England beaches. We chose this property because it is located in the quiet north end neighborhood and has 300 feet of direct ocean front as well as Fort Clinch behind us. This end of the island is all residential, there are no hotels, condos, public beaches and very little traffic. Most of the properties are single family homes or duplexes. Our beach is beautiful white sand and is never crowded. We take long walks to the fishing pier. Our dogs love to run at the end of a long leash, dig holes in pursuit of whatever creatures and dive in the waves. This beach is also a great spot to swim, as it is not prone to rip currents and has a gradual slope to deeper water. Low tide is a great time to hunt for shark teeth or collect shells. It really doesn't get any better than this.
This a stilt house which gives us great views and a protected place to park cars and boats. We do welcome pets. We have 3 dogs of our own. That is Mister Buster in the picture and he has a twin Cairn Terrier, Mister Bronson who looks just like Toto. They have an older brother Zippy the porky Yorkie who also loves the beach. The main living area of this house is tile, the decks have a child/pet gate at the top of the stairs. This area of the beach always has a breeze so you can sit on either deck depending on your preferred view. The east deck has roll out awnings to provide shade during mid day.
Dick and Chris were wonderful hosts and the house on Greeg Street was stunning - right on the beach, beautiful windows and great kitchen.
Was a bit disappointed that the house was across the street from the beach, as none of the pictures, nor the description mentioned that in between the house and the beach there was a paved street and 300' of dunes with no direct beach access. The sunrise that is shown on the photo gallery didn't seem to match the view from the deck either, as the pic did not have the telephone pole and lines blocking the view as is the reality. Nice house amenities were good.
Our week's stay was great! I always find rentals through VRBO because of the convenience and ease of the transaction and this one was no exception. Quickly accomplished with all my questions answered immediately. The home is on the quiet end of the northern part of the island and provided for much relaxation. It is near Fort Clinch (our favorite site for shelling) and the downtown area with shops and restaurants. The spacious home is well maintained, very clean and well organized. The tastefully "seaside" decor added much enjoyment. The beds have excellent mattresses along with wonderful sheets and fluffy towels. These extras added much to our enjoyment and really did not want to leave after a week's stay.
Our stay was wonderful with the rental meeting all our needs. Very spacious, extremely clean, well organized and with a tasteful "beach" decor. It provided close access to the beach and all areas of the island. A week was not nearly long enough to enjoy all aspects of this excellent rental.
This was my first experience in using VRBO and Chris was wonderful to work with. Once the glitches with the undeliverable emails was worked out, Chris really came through with answers to all my questions and concerns. (My husband is still amazed at how fast we got that phone call after sending out that email that one Sunday morning). The pictures are very close to being accurate. If anything they may be a little older as the furniture and decor in the home seems to be newer than the pictures let on. One heads up for future renters, the picture of the kitchen shows a Keurig, however it is not. This was not a problem but don't want to bring K-cups with you. You will need regular coffee for the pot. Also anyone who has any issues with stairs will need to be extra careful as the first step after turning up toward the house (the longer stair case) has a slightly higher rise and caught us off guard every time. There is also only one railing so the other side of the stairs is open. This might be a concern for someone with small children. I don't know if any future renters had mentioned this or not but one tile is missing from the wall in the master bath and the fixtures in the tub are a little loose. Again, this was all minor and did not detract from wonderful time we had. The home is not on the beach and you can not see the sand or the waves breaking, but I enjoyed having my coffee on the deck every morning listening to the sound of the surf breaking waiting for the sunrise. The beach is a short walk across the dunes and lots of shells etc. We saw deer in the back yard in the evenings as they made there way across to the dunes. We also had another visitor who left us a "gift" on the deck most every morning. Not sure what it was. May have been a racoon. The homes are very close to each other in this area, but very peaceful. No traffic noise or loud parties. Only saw the neighbor to the North once. Only other time we saw people was when we were on the beach. I can see where this would be an excellent place for traveling with your four legged companion. Nice yard in the back and lots for them to explore on the beach. Unfortunately we were not able to bring ours. We are already planning our return to the area
Our family fell in love with this spacious and comfortable beach house. We enjoyed four wonderful family filled days at this lovely home. The beach is directly across the street, a short walk over the dunes to the beach and water. The back yard was great for our dog. The house is roomy and comfortable with everything you need and more. We enjoyed spending time on the large front deck and it was a great comfort to have the awnings to keep the sun and heat off of us. The kids enjoyed sleeping on the back deck and watching all the wildlife. Not a night went by without several deer making a visit to our back yard. We definitely loved the location and short drive for groceries and shopping. We definitely will be back next year. A great family place!
Our cottage is located in the Northern residential section of the Island where the beaches are private, there are no condos or commercial sites. The road is a dead end so the traffic is local and light. The cottage faces the ocean with unobstructed views and to the west is Fort Clinch State Park. We have full length decks both back and front. All three bedrooms have patio door access to the decks. Beach driving at various locations, shark tooth hunting, skate park, Historic Fort Clinch, sunset cruise, fishing, golf, all 2 miles or closer. Historic and quaint downtown has wonderful restaurants and shopping. Watch the sunset from Brett's patio. Dine at some of the best restaurants in Florida. Charter a fishing boat, take a ride to Cumberland Island for a stroll and dinner. Enjoy the new bike trails on Amelia and Big Talbot Islands.
