My husband and I are retired and continue to buy and restore Vintage homes (7 in all). I teach Coastal History part time for the Road Scholar Program and am a presenter for a costumed class on plantation life along the coast. We have 4 adult children, 8 grandchildren who live near us as well as Isabel a very senior mini poodles and Pennie the peekapoo. We have many bird feeders and we are amatuer birding enthusiasts.
Patricia Buie purchased this cottage in 2003
When I remarried my husband 24 years ago, I had always wanted to live in an 'old' house. Although he was working full time at one of thee local manufacturing plants, we still managed to purchase restore and sell 7 vintage homes. They ranged from 1870s to early 1900s. We bought this one with the intention of settling and retireing in it. The guest cottage was originally built for mr to sew and paint. We enlarged it for out of town family but realized it could be a great get away spot for visitors. To our area.
We spend half of our time here and half on our mountain property. (My roots are Atlanta and the north Georgia mountains) Since then we purchased a Victorian in Jesup Georgia where one daughter and her family reside and one more 4 blocks from here in the Brunswick Downtown Historic District where another daughter and her family reside.
The convenience to various historic sites, activites and beaches at a much reduced cost is an attractive feature.
Our adventure started on May 7th at this Quaint & Comfy Cottage...
All I can say is we could not have picked a better place...
The owners are the most pleasant people and did everything to make sure our stay was perfect...
Comfy, clean and easy to find...
Thank You for all you do...
We appreciate you both and send many Blessings...
We will be in touch...
First of all rent this little, and I mean little, slice of heaven with confidence! It is very small and quaint, but was perfect for our getaway. We spent two nights in Brunswick and this little cottage was exactly what we needed. Cozy for two that don't mind being in close quarters. Trish is the most gracious host, and the cottage has everything you need to be comfortable. The area is rich with heritage and amazing restaurants and antique stores. We will be back!
My stay at this adorable little cottage couldn't have been better. Trish was a doll, unfortunately she was out of town during my stay so we were unable to meet. I do plan on using this convenient little hideaway again so know I'm sure we will meet in the future. The size and location was perfect for myself & my four-legged baby, who made himself at home right away. Loved it!!!! Thanx, Trish
My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was a little smaller than we preferred, especially having our two "4-legged" children with us.
Quaint as can be... Tiny as it is, there is a nook and cranny for everything...and owner has made it truly warm with her "Shabby Chic" decor....
One person would be definitely happy....and comfortable.....two -- a bit tight.
The grounds and neighborhood are great and very safe. And, of course our Hostess, was wonderful...made us feel like we were family.
One can't ask for a better location....We were just minutes from both St. Simon's Island and Jekyll Island and just about an hour south of Savannah.
On the cons: mattress needs to be replaced and I believe that's in the plans already....Also no WIFI... made us have to 'talk to each other instead'....LOL..
St. Simon's Island is my favorite spot in the whole world. Life just feels better there. There is always the issue of finding somewhere to stay. On the Island? Off the Island? Do I take the dog? Is it safe? This cottage solves all my issues. So close to St. Simon's and Jekyll Islands that you might as well say you are there. I travel alone sometimes, and this cottage did not make me feel like a "target". The cottage is so cute and the owner has every thing you could possibly need tucked away in neat little spots. You will have a lot of moments when you stop and think, "Why didn't I think of that?". You will find yourself stopping and just gazing at an item that she has tucked away on a shelf. Please consider staying in this little cottage. It is very tiny and really does only sleep two people, but it is so cozy and comfortable. If you need a little more room, the cottage is on the same property as a cute farmhouse that, I understand, the owner also has to rent for just a little more a night. A nice sized group could rent both. The yard is wonderful with lots of places to sit and just smell the sea/marsh air. The streets are very quiet and we saw many children just out riding their bikes. I am definately going back.....and soon! Thank you so very much for your hospitality!
My Husband and I spent a long weekend celebrating our anniversary. The cottage was so cozy and pretty. The cottage owners were very friendly and helpful. We would love to stay in the cottage again on our next trip to Brunswick. Very conveinent to St. Simons and Jeykell.
