About Marlene Rogers

Our family loves to ski and snow board. It is the only sport mom can do with her sons! We have great quality family time on our ski trips. We have always wanted a place in the mountains to enjoy with our family.

Marlene Rogers purchased this chalet in 2013

Why Marlene Rogers chose Quandary Village

We looked at properties that were ski-in and ski-out but decided the most beautiful area was slightly south of Breckenridge. The trees and mountain vistas are off-the-charts beautiful. This was the first house our realtor showed us and none could compare afterwards.

What makes this chalet unique

Only 9 miles from Breckenridge Skiing and fabulous restaurants! Also, very close to Vail/ Beaver Creek, Copper Mountain, Keystone. The moose graze right next to the house. There are numerous hiking trails with mountain lakes and waterfalls in close proximity. There is a nearby 14'er to climb with mountain goats galore. A 14'er is a mountain higher than 14 thousand feet. There are 56 14'ers in Colorado. There are also many local road bike trails.

Beyond Expectations

  • 5 of 5

For ten years, we have used VRBO to find a vacation rental. This was the first time that the reality far exceeded our expectations. The photos do not do the home justice. It is GORGEOUS. This custom home was obviously designed by a very talented architect.

The living spaces are light-filled, inviting and comfortably appointed with quality furnishings. Entertainment options are plentiful, and access to the very latest 5G WiFi technology was greatly appreciated by my husband, a data processing consultant.

The large, well-equipped kitchen was given a “thumbs up” by our friend, Chef Cassidy, who prepared a magnificent meal for us and found all that he required.

The well-designed floor plan affords each of the three sleeping areas a sense of seclusion and privacy.

The quality bedding and mattresses promote a restful, restorative night.

The lower level is ideal for the younger set to enjoy in excited exuberance without disturbing the other guests.

The climate-controlled heating system is well-balanced and has none of the hot or cold spots that can occur in less well-designed systems.

The home is conducive to a relaxing vacation, and the setting bids one to come out and explore the beauty of Colorado. In short, we loved the home and had a wonderful vacation.

Perfect Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family (3 kids) and my sister's (2 kids) spent Spring Break and my niece's 13th birthday at this cozy and well-appointed chalet. The house is as photographed - stylish, well planned and clean - except that the pictures do not capture the great ambience and feel the place offers - it's secluded enough and designed for occupants to gather around easily and spend quality time together, yet it is completely equipped with modern essentials. Everyone loved it!

Note though that the house is an additional thousand feet up from Breck (about a 20 minute drive) - one of our party was terribly sick due to altitude sickness that we had to go down to Vail. No AT&T service too.

Owner's Response: I am so glad that you enjoyed spring break at the chalet! It does have a wonderful ambience that is hard to capture in pictures! I am also glad your niece had a fabulous 13th birthday she will never forget! Drinking lots of water before coming to the mountains helps avoid altitude sickness especially if you are coming from sea level. Cell coverage is great in town. Verizon has the best coverage near the chalet.

Great house!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, along with our four kids, spent spring break of '15 at this house. It had more than enough room, with all the things we needed to stay comfortable. It easily, with out using any couch or floor space, could have slept a few more. Nothing but great things to say! You won't be disappointed.

A few tips:

1. In the winter, a 4WD is ideal. We had snow one night and it was tricky getting to the house and the next morning, it took some effort to get the Honda Odyssey out of the sloped driveway.

2. This house is HIGH. I mean, up there. My guess, based on Breckenridge elevation and the pass beyond the house, the house likely sits at around 11,000 feet. We had some issues with the altitude, that were relieved when we descended down to Breck's base.

3. There is no cell service, at least for my ATT and a friend's Sprint phone. Also, the internet available is satellite based... slow, with connectivity issue. This was both a blessing and a curse. Plan ahead.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the compliments! I am so glad you enjoyed spring break at the chalet! We absolutely recommend 4WD vehicles in the mountains- especially in the winter! We are located in the mountains just south of Breckenridge and it definitely helps to stay hydrated in higher altitudes- drink lots of water! We have found that Verizon has the best cell phone coverage in our area. The town of Breckenridge always has coverage. As for the Internet, the speed is usually very good but can wane toward the end of the billing cycle if there has been a lot of high data usage like downloading videos/movies during that month. If the internet is running unusually slow, please contact the property managers as the situation is easily remedied. However, like you say, sometimes getting away from it all can be a blessing- especially at the chalet! :)

Great Breckenridge getaway locale

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place in a beautiful mountain enviro. A+++ Would definitely stay again for another skiing/climbing trip.

The owner is great, kind and conscientious. Thanks again! If you come in the winter I would reccomend a 4 WD vehicle. We woke up to almost a foot of snow at 11,000 ft and near the base of a mountain pass so be advised. You likely wont get out of the drive way without one.

thanksgiving getaway

  • 5 of 5

I have nothing but great things to say about our stay!!The chalet was beautiful, clean and well stocked. The scenic views were spectacular. It can be a family adventure, a romantic getaway etc. It is perfect for anything :). We loved it sooo much we will be going back next year. The town of Breckenridge is only a few minutes away. I love the fact that what you see and what what is described is exactly what you get, no surprises here and that is a +. We were lucky to have gotten quite a bit of snow so early in the season, out of 6 days it snowed non stop 4 days. needless to say my little girl and niece were thrilled. The owner is very friendly and when I had a question she answered it promptly. I highly recommend this to everyone, we had a wonderful experience. We travel quite a bit but this is our first time staying at a home instead of a resort, hotel or all inclusive place, would definitely do it again.

Family fun at Hoosier Pass

  • 5 of 5

If you want a cozy, modern cabin high in the mountains (is 11,000' high enough for you?) yet just minutes away from shopping, restaurants and nightlife (in Breckenridge), this is the spot. There are at least 4 world-class hikes within 5 minutes, incredible views from the back deck, and summer snow drifts a few hundred yards away. New interior finishes and furniture by IKEA make it cool (no elk antler chandeliers here) and 4 TVs with DirectTV and DVD players are great options for rainy mountain afternoons. Explore central Colorado from your hip homebase at Hoosier Pass.
