Breathtaking sunrises and sunsets in paradise

The villa was spotlessly clean on arrival and we received a warm welcoming from Dave and Hilda. The villa was very comfortable and we loved simply relaxing and chilling on some days, whilst exploring on others. There is an excellent supermarket in Ourique and we had a wonderful meal at the Coimbra restaurant on the IC1, and one of the best pepper steaks ever. We also liked going down to the little village of Santana da Serra and sitting at the snack bar, watching the villagers go about their business and buying a few provisions from the local store. We could not have relaxed more if we had tried!
Beautiful sunrises and breathtaking sunsets were the perfect start and end to every day. We had a very enjoyable stay at this lovely old villa and will definitely be back. Excellent communications from Barbara, we were most impressed with the whole experience.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

The perfect idyll

We had a lovely week in Monte Novo. It is a beautiful villa with everything you could wish for. The finish and attention to details are great. The leaflets provided were very useful and we explored extensively and thoroughly enjoyed the surrounding areas, such as Santiago do Cacem with all the windmills and Castra do Cola between Santana da Serra and Ourique. We also visited other sites along 'road's that were little more dirt tracks which made it so much fun.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

We had a really lovely time and enjoyed ourselves enormously. You are really lucky to have such a lovely villa in such a wonderful area.
There were too many highlights to mention. Fabulous walks, storks, hoopoes, the restaurant in the village of Santana da Serra where the people were fabulous...

MONTE NOVO is set in a 3 000m² plot, with an abundance of olive and fruit trees, scented flowers, indigenous plants and wonderful bird life.

It is located 1km along a dirt road, from the village of SANTANA DA SERRA which is situated in the south-central Alentejo, just north of the Algarve off the IC1.

OURIQUE is a larger town, 20 minutes’ drive away, with an excellent SUPERMARKET and en route you can visit Castro da Cola, an ancient settlement with a great restaurant, surrounded by lovely walking country.

THE SURROUNDING AREA is hilly and rugged, with narrow valleys and streams, crossed by winding paths, and populated by many birds and wildlife.

The Santa Clara da Velha dam and nature reserve is of breath-taking beauty and has FISHING, BOATING and other WATER-SPORTS on the dam.

A CAR is essential.
