LeeAnn's grandfather built a cottage on Pike Lake in the late 1920's, which later passed to LeeAnn's father. She spent her childhood summers at the lake. When an opportunity arose to purchase the property next to her parents', we purchased that property and built a year round home there. Now that we live here year round, Sunday night is our favorite evening when all the weekenders have returned home and we have the entire week to enjoy the beauty of Pike Lake.
LeeAnn Podruch purchased this cottage in 2008
'Stolen Moments Cottage' was built in 2008 as a future cottage for our children to be able to spend time at the lake with our family. We have lots of memories of holidays--including Memorial Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, and Christmas-spent at the lake with our extended families.
'Stolen Moments' was designed and built as a labor of love. It contains arts and crafts features with beautiful custom built window seats and quality throughout. Decorated with new, vintage, and antique furniture, it has wonderful amenities for a cozy retreat, romantic getaway, or family vacation home.
What a beautiful place to spend a long winter weekend with family. This cabin was comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed watching the ice fishermen and walking on the lake. The kids loved playing in the loft. We all enjoyed warming up in front of the fireplace. We did some antiquing in Wausau and skiing at Granite Peak. Both were an easy drive from the cabin. The owner welcomed us upon our arrival which was a nice touch. Thanks for sharing it with us. We'd love to come back in the summer!
The first thing I said to the owners when we walked in was "the pictures don't to the place justice". The owners put a lot into Stolen Moments to make it cozy and comfy. It is so nicely decorated. Our family of three liked being in the cottage so much we turned down lunch and dinner out. We all enjoyed the perfect weather while having almost all of our meals on the deck. My 11 year old daughter appropriated the second floor window seat where she discovered Nancy Drew. She also proved to be quite a fisherman - she caught the most, the biggest and caught one fish without bait!
There were a few people on jet skis off and on but most of the time the lake was quiet and lazy. I heard the loons every morning and evening. And sometimes they swam by. A small flock of ducks visited in the evenings. We sighted a doe and her two fawn in the field across the road.
The owners were so helpful with ideas of other things to do in the area. We discovered the "Mercantile" where we bought night crawlers and a few groceries. There were fruit and vegetable stands nearby of which we took advantage.
The cottage is outfitted with a lovely kitchen and everything you would want for meal making. I even found a waffle iron. I love the open floor plan and the little areas where you can gather.
At night we played board games, watched TV and enjoyed the fireplace.
The owners live up the road so they are close enough if a problem arises. Every thing was clean well maintained. If you are looking for a quiet, out of the way place to unwind, Stolen Moments is perfect.
Our family of four had a great time at Stolen Moments Cottage on Pike Lake. The house had so many little extras and was VERY livable and comfortable. I did not feel like I was "roughing it" at all. The 200 acre lake was also nice and we enjoyed using our SeaDoo as well as the canoe that was at the cottage. This is certainly a cottage that we'd consider for another vacation. The owners were helpful as well; They really made us feel welcomed.
We have spent lovely winter weekends at this cottage and love the access to skiing and snow shoeing. The cottage is beautifully decorated, warm and cozy. It feels like home.
