Villa Pochote is a large, cool and comfortable house located on the hill top above the town of Montezuma, in the most exclusive residential neighborhood 'Calle Linda Vista'. Far enough to enjoy peace at home only disturbed by the birdsongs or the monkey's howling, but at the same time near enough for going walking to downtown or the beaches.
Because of its special location, in front of a grove that covers the bed of a stream and near the top of a huge Pochote tree, you can always enjoy a cool caressing breeze and observe a lot of wildlife.
In addition it has a view of the ocean from its terraces and outside dining area.
Villa Pochote offers:

I'm a middle age woman. Borned in San José, lived in Guatemala and Nicaragua in early childhood, then in San José until came to Montezuma in 1982 and fell in love with the place and its magnetic and powerful nature. Traveled and lived in South América and Europe from 1984 to 1990, finally came to live in Montezuma in 1991,happy to share my little paradise with you for a while!
Rebeca Quesada purchased this villa in 2005
Because Montezuma is my favorite place in the world. Since the first time I came here, more than 30 years ago, when it was a wonderful and truly magical fishing village, I felt in love with this place and even if I'm from Costa Rica and had travelled it from east to west and from north to south, in Montezuma I had a very deep connection with nature and my real soul, so I chose this special place for building this special house!!!
When you're in Villa Pochote you really feel the connection with Montezuma essence, you just have to sit in the terrace next to the forest, overlooking the sea... and you'll feel and understand what really matters to be happy and in peace... it's an indescribable sensation.
And at the other hand it's so near to Montezuma town and all its action and attractions, it's really the ideal place for a wonderful holiday!!!
Written by a 35 yr old couple. This is a wonderful property. It is set up on the hill above Montezuma about 1km. It is very private and well furnished. Large home with plenty of room. Has a deck/terrace area overlooking the jungle which was great for dining and relaxing. The property owner was available, helpful, and very courteous. It is walkable into town but a rental car or some transportation is recommended as its at the top of a hill. Wonderful beaches, dining, and people all around. Highly recommend!
Not only is Rebeca's Villa Pochote a very comfortable house with all the amenities, it is an unusually tranquil spot considering how close it is to the action part of Montezuma; when you want the shops and beaches, they are right there, and if you want to relax away from things, the house couldn't be more quiet. Rebeca was incredibly helpful in directing us to the best restaurants and beaches, off the beaten track as well as in town. Best of all was the wildlife we could see right from the house and on the trails below the house. We couldn't have chosen better, and will definitely return.
Magic here is what I shall say if there was only a single word to be written about our stay in Villa Pochote.
Concerning the equipments of the house there is everything, it's big, clean, warm, and we felt in total safety.
The big terrace : An exceptional place to be after a day full of activity in Montezuma and around...Beeing on this terrace is really special: we felt in peace, we could breathe and to tell the true, we felt lucky to be there and not at the bottom of the mountain...About the terrace the comment before said everything about it and I would just add that we were surprise noticing that nature nevertheless so close keeps her distances what means that we had never been disturbed by animals or insects in the house like cockroachs, ants, etc...
To end, Rebeca is very nice and very available too, brief: a wonderful stay in Montezuma and at villa Pochote...
This was a wonderful place to stay. I'd recommend a four wheeler for getting around. We loved Montezuma. The house is great for cooking and just taking in the sights. We saw Tucans and Monkeys from the porch.
This was an absolutely fantastic property and Rebeca was a wonderful host. We were a bit concerned initially as the property sits atop a hill about a kilometre from town but by the second day we would not have had it any other way. The evening breezes on the huge private rear deck were wonderful as was the jungle view complete with a variety of birds and wildlife. One evening we watched four capuchin monkeys in the large pichote tree that dominates the rear view while lounging in comfortable deck chairs and sipping wine! From another part of the deck there is a terrific ocean view. Rebeca's thoughtful touches such as laundering bedding and towels regularly during the week, placing boutique soap in the bathrooms and fresh flowers both inside and on the dining table outside of the house just added to the classy feel of the home. Villa Pichote is a beautifully maintained, spacious, well equipped and private place. Five stars may not do it justice.
The house is on the edge of a precipice. The view of the upper branches of the Pochote tree can give a close view of a monkey but otherwise the sheer drop limits wildlife sightings and makes the house unsuitable for young children or drunks. There are several villas and cabins close by as well as a large dog that barks much of the night -not ideal for attracting wildlife.
The terrace is spacious and shaded. The accommodation is clean and reasonable quality for the price. The beds are comfortable. Rebecca is most helpful.
Worth considering if you do not share our obsession with viewing birds and animals while in your holiday home.
Montezuma is a special little seaside village immersed in the most magnetic and magical nature. This wonderful place offers 7 different beaches, each with its own special charm, 4 refreshing rivers with crystal clear waterfalls, forests with abundant wildlife, National Parks and Wildlife Reserves ... the ideal place for a wonderful and unforgettable stay!
