This cottage can be combined with the three-bedroom cottage next door for a total five-bedroom option.
This beautiful cottage, located on Daufuskie Island's Melrose on the Beach resort, is a lovely vacation home with beautiful views from all sides. From your front porch, you can see the ocean and glimpses of Hilton Head Island in the distance. From your back porch, you are overlooking a huge backyard and peaceful marsh beyond.
And the location really can't be beat! You are within a 1-2 minute walk to the beach and to the resort's pool area. And for our youngest visitors, there is even a playground just a stone's-throw away.
The cottage itself is absolutely lovely. It has been completely renovated, and is beautifully decorated, spacious, and furnished with everything you will need for a luxury vacation experience. When you first enter the cottage, you are greeted by a spacious open floor plan with a comfortable living room and a dining area perfect for laid-back family meals that you prepare in your fully-equipped kitchen with granite counters.
You will be surprised at the size of your beautiful bedrooms...each furnished with two queen-sized beds and its own bathroom. There won't be any fighting over who gets which one, as each of them is huge and provides a beautiful view.
And you'll want to check out your furnished and screened-in back porch overlooking your spacious backyard (complete with hammock!) and a perfect place to watch egrets, herons, and even an occasional Bald Eagle! There isn't a better place to relax and enjoy the end of the day: Pina Coladas, anyone?
Most folks on the island get around by golf cart, and your cottage includes complimentary use of an electric one.
You will have free access to the spectacular Melrose pool area*, discounted rates at Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, and the wonderful Beach Club Restaurant.
(In addition to the Melrose course, avid golfers will also enjoy playing on the nearby Bloody Point championship golf course.)
Many visitors enjoy touring the resort and the island by bike, which are available for rental, as well as simply taking nice long walks.
The wildlife is abundant and breathtaking. The resort is the home of a Great White Egret rookery, where you will see hundreds of these graceful birds settle in for the night. A nest of American Bald Eagles can be found behind the inn, and now and then vigilant visitors can actually catch sight of a Loggerhead Turtle coming ashore to lay hundreds of eggs in the soft sand.
Most of our visitors also take time to get to know the rest of this special island. Those who do quickly realize that they have discovered a hidden island gem just a short boat ride from the mainland. Quiet, laid-back, and unique, beautiful Daufuskie is described by old-timers as similar to Hilton Head before a bridge connected that island with the mainland. (Daufuskie's unofficial slogan is 'No Bridge? No Problem!')
When you choose this cottage for your vacation, you will find a perfect setting to experience a lovely low country island with a centuries-old cultural history, beautiful beaches, spectacular wildlife, and friendly residents.
SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
This lovely cottage offers its lucky visitors a one-of-a-kind vacation experience on a virtually undiscovered low-country island. We expect this home to be very popular, and we recommend you reserve it as soon as possible.

Why Deborah Smith chose Daufuskie Island
Just as Daufuskie is a special place, so is the Melrose area of the island. One of the original eleven plantations on Daufuskie, Melrose was famous for its Sea Island cotton and thriving social life in the 1800’s. The former plantation bears the name of a Scottish rose brought to the island by Captain Mongin. The main house, known as the Melrose Mansion, was surrounded by lavish rose gardens and looked out at the Atlantic Ocean and beautiful white sand beaches.
Today, Melrose encompasses over 700 acres and you’ll share those same white sand beaches with nesting Bald Eagles, Loggerhead Turtles and dolphin. Melrose is also home to a resort with amenities that include the Jack Nicklaus Signature Melrose course, a Stan Smith designed tennis center and the Island House conference center.
