Camp Ohana is the perfect family retreat. Ohana means 'family' in Hawaiian. Whether it's friends who are like family or visits from our extended family, Camp Ohana translates to simple good times in this beautiful mountain setting.
We love the convenience of Camp Ohana. It's easy to get to, and it's quick to enjoy - whether in the hammocks out front, dinner on the deck, or a walk to the parkway or the pastures nearby. We have all the conveniences of home -- including internet access -- with the quiet and peace of the mountains.
We were not pleased. The smell in the house was horrific, maybe septic tank problems....not sure. There was no television at all. I should have brought my own pillows and coffee maker. When I shared the concern about the house smell with the owner, she did not seem too concerned with our discomfort during our stay.
My husband and I spent a week at this property last year. The mountain laurel were in bloom everywhere we went. It was the first time we've ever been in the mountains at this time of the year. You must go and see for yourself; the scenery is spectacular! This property has laurel on the premises as well as many other landscaping improvements. I took my 4 year old grandson for walks along the road and taught him how to flip a limb (limme) with a walking stick; we saw deer tracks and horses in the pasture; we splashed in the mud holes after a shower and put sticks across a mud hole just in case there was frog who needed to walk across. The house is well furnished. Go make some memories of your own.
Get-away with ease! Located on a state-maintained road feet from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Camp Ohana is accessible year-round. Convenient to Stone Mountain State Park, Doughton Recreation Area, and Cumberland Gap with restaurants and shopping in nearby Sparta. Between Glade Valley and Roaring Gap.
Great places to visit nearby include Turkey Knob Pottery and the Blue Ridge Music Center (just over the VA border on the parkway). Camp Cheerio is just a couple of miles away. Our niece is still raving about her 2-weeks there!
