Southwest Harbor Cottage Rental Photos and Description
2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage
The cottage consists of a living room, eat-in kitchen, two bedrooms, and 1 bathroom. The living room has a vaulted ceiling and has a very light and airy feel. The kitchen has recently been updated with new countertops, a new sink and faucet, newly stenciled kitchen floor, and paint on the walls and cabinets. I love to cook and have equipped the kitchen with all the tools I normally want. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has a full bed. We also have a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. The full size bed has bed rails that slide out from under the mattress, making it a suitable bed for children. We also have a pack n play available.
It is located on a private half acre lot. Looking out the front and backs of the house, there are only trees visible. The two houses on the sides of the house are nicely screened by trees. There is a little stream passing through part of the property.
The cottage is walking distance to the center of Southwest Harbor, the causeway between Norwood Cove and Somes Sound, the ferry to the Cranberry Isles, and the Wendell Gilley Museum. Also nearby are Echo Lake and numerous mountains for hiking.
We offer weekly rentals starting and ending on Mondays. This is perfect for avoiding traveling during busy weekends in the summer! It's also a great option if you are spending a week on Mount Desert Island for a wedding!

About Sylvie Smiley
We are an active family with two young children living outside Boston. We love hiking and biking and spending time outdoors with our kids.
Sylvie Smiley purchased this cottage in 2012
Why Sylvie Smiley chose Southwest Harbor
Sylvie grew up camping on Mount Desert Island (MDI) every summer and continued the tradition of visiting the island into adulthood. David fell in love with the island too and we want our kids to also grow up coming to MDI. We love the location of this house. It's walking distance to so much and a short drive to even more. We really enjoy walking to restaurants, shopping, and the water.
Guestbook comments from the owner
We spent a wonderful two weeks in Acadia National Park in June, and our visit was enhanced by our stay in this lovely cottage. The night we arrived, we looked out the picture window and saw three deer looking straight at us as if they were welcoming us and wishing us a nice stay. The cottage has everything one would need, comfortable furnishings and art work by the owner, a kitchen well-stocked with whatever you need to prepare a sandwich or a gourmet meal and a book case filled with books for adults and children. The cottage is a short walk into the town of Southwest Harbor, which has a surprising number of restaurants for a small town. It is an excellent location for taking different hikes through Acadia or visiting the neighboring towns. You won’t be disappointed if you make Cameline Cottage your home away from home.
