All Thumbs Up!

We (family of 4 plus 2 grandparents) stayed at Simone's apartment and loved it! From comfortable beds (even the sofa bed for my teenage kids), to plentiful hot water for showers/baths, to a nicely appointed kitchen, we had a great time. The apartment is on the 5th floor with a reliable elevator for those not wanting to climb the stairs (it's a workout!), and just a half-story climb to the rooftop for a little piece of heaven -- fabulous views of St Peter's dome and the hills of Rome. We snacked on pizza from a shop 2 minutes away on Piazza Risorgimento and cooked dinner at the apartment on 2 evenings, buying our groceries from a Carrefour about 4 blocks away. There are also restaurants and cafes galore, so eating out in close proximity to the apartment is no problem, either. The apartment location is perfect for visiting the Vatican, with quick and easy access to Metro, bus or tram for visiting other sites. I was also happily surprised at how quiet the area was during sleeping hours -- we slept undisturbed with the windows open every night. Although we were not visiting Rome during the hot months, I could see the AC units/thermostat controls in the apartment. Simone was also quick to respond to our questions, both before and during our stay. We have done a lot of travelling in Europe, staying many holiday apartments along the way, and this experience has to go to the top of the list. Many thanks to Simone for sharing his pad in Rome with us! Grazie!
