This upstairs studio is all new construction in 2013. It has new appliances which include, washer, dryer, range, microwave, refrigerator, flat screen satelite T.V. The bathroom does not have a tub but has a glass door shower. We are located five miles west of Kalispell on five beautiful tree'd acres with walking paths and views of the mountains to the west, Glacier Park to the east and Whitfish Ski Resort to the North. There is a large stone lined fire pit for campfires that guests are free to use. The studio is separate from our main family house, with it's own entrance.
I am an Independent Contractor and have lived on this property for 35 years. I moved here from cornfields of Indiana and Ohio. Lisa and I first saw the Flathead Valley on our vacation and decided to quit our jobs in South Bend, Indiana, move here without knowing anyone. It was a good move and have never regretted it. We have two children, Nawnie and Griffin who have spent time out of valley and now are living back here.
I feel fortunate that purchased this property back in 1980, even though it seemed expensive at the time, to buy in today's market might be prohibitive. The beauty of it, is that it is close to town and still very private. There is a K through eighth grade school just down the road from us, which both kids went to. It was just land with no building on it when we purchased, but fortunately, I was pretty handy with a hammer and was able to build my own home over the years when I wasn't working my day job. We lived in a flat roof daylight basement for the first 7 years, saving money to continue building up. It was a lot of incovieniences but worth it in the end. I divided the property a few years back and built another house just up the hill from the first one. This is the house we live in now and my daughter occupies the original house.
I belive the most appealing aspect of this property is that it is very private and yet just eight minutes from the Hutton Ranch complex, where are many resturants and establishments such as Home Depot, Target, Costco, Walmart and many others too numerous to list. The studio sits above my shop that I just finished in 2013. Everything is new and very functional. No worries of any shop noise as I will not be using it when the studio is occupied. I want my guests to have a great Montana expierance and I will do what I can to accomadate that. We have flower gardens that we plant every spring which adds to the beauty. We do have fence them, as I have found nothing that keeps the deer from using it as a smorgasbord. We have lots of wildlife here with deer and an occasional elk passing through. Bald eagles are not uncommon and many different species of birds including a family of turkeys.
My husband and I stayed in the Studio for a month. We loved the location and the studio is new and clean with all of the comforts you would like while on vacation. Doug and Lisa are "good people" as we would say in the South :) and having stayed for an extended time, we enjoyed their company. It only takes us 40 minutes to get to the West entrance of Glacier National Park. As others have stated, the property is very close to shopping and restaurants. There are nice little walking paths around the property. On clear nights, the stars are amazing and the milky way is extremely cloudy and bright (as it should be). I would highly recommend if you are coming to the Flathead Valley Area.
My wife and I travelled here for our anniversary. The owners were very friendly, informative and accommodating. The suite was in great condition and very clean. Great staging place for adventure being right between Whitefish and Flathead lake, or just a relaxing time on a very quiet and pretty property. The suite is well stocked with everything you'de expect in the kitchen and bathroom, all shops and services are within a 5-10min drive. I would definitely stay again.
Quiet and peaceful. Clean and comfortable. This studio is tucked into the woods miles from town. However, Downtown Kalispell is just a few minutes away. The property is beautiful. The location is very convenient. We were very happy with this place
Fantastic rental in the hills outside of Kallisprell. Clean, quite loft, with everything you need for a wonderful vacation. Owners are great to deal with, although you seldom see them.Secluded area, with wildlife and mountain settings. We enjoyed it greatly and will try to rent it again if we return to the area for any reason.
Good location. Very clean and modern. Quiet and secluded. Will definitely be back again.
We booked Doug's studio for 5 night in July. Doug and his wife Lisa were great, they accommodate 4 of us and made us feel welcome.
The studio is new, very clean, quite and the location in the woods is great. We enjoy our morning coffee outside every morning sighting birds and deers.
The kitchen is full with all you need, we really liked the way Doug and his wife organized stuff around and kept everything clean.
Great place to stay, great deal for the money. We will love to go back in the future..
We are located about 35 minutes from Glacier National Park. In 20 minutes you can be at Flathead Lake, which is the largest fresh water lake west of the Mississippi River. It has abundent opportuities for fishing, boating and swimming. There are many lakes and rivers all within a 30 minute drive. Kalispell and Whitefish are very art oriented with many galleries and a couple of museums. There are many nightclubs that bring in top name bands and entertainers from all over the country. It is not unusual to see celebrities in local bars and restruants, as many have second homes here in the valley.
