My mother moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 1969 with 3 children and 1 one the way. I was the one on the way. In the fall of 1970, My Uncle Joe, Aunt Jackie and my mother, Nancy, began Shenandoah River Outfitters with two old aluminum canoes and a dream.
Andrea purchased this cabin in 2013
I started Mountain Whisper Cabins in 2005 after purchasing the cabin I grew up in and settling back into the Valley. The Shenandoah Sunset was added to my cabin business in 2013.
The Shenandoah Sunset has spectacular views, and is nestled within walking distance to the Legendary Shenandoah River.
We stayed two night in Shenandoah Sunset in October and had a lovely time. We had young children with us and they loved the cabin and they had plenty of room to run around outside. Everything was as described with everything working perfectly,a s well as being spotless
The cabin was easy to find and it was only a 15 minute drive to Luray town Caverns. In Luray we ate dinner at Artisans Grill and lunched at West Main Market and would recommend both We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cabin to others.
Our family had a wonderful stay here last summer (August 2013). We're still talking about the spacious, modern, comfortable cabin and the fantastic view (while sitting in the relaxing hot tub, of course!). Great attention from Andrea too. Nothing but positives to report - we will most certainly come back!
Great cabin - as seen in pictures. Fantastic view, awesome hot tub and great location to visit Shenandoah park. Thanks to Andrea for being a great host!
Loved the house! Looks exactly like the pictures. Hot tub on the porch was awesome! The fire pit was a lot of fun, too. The view is very pretty. It's a 20 min drive to get to Shennandoah park, which is where we did some hiking. About 10-15 min to Luray, which had some cute places to eat. The house was very nice and reasonably priced for what you get!
One con - a little hard to navigate there at night, but the directions are as good as they can be.
Our family of 4 had a wonderful time in the Shenandoah Valley! Andrea, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cabin with us. Everything was so clean and lovely. The house and grounds are very private with a great yard and fire pit. The view was spectacular and peaceful! The house was very easy to get to and really an easy drive to all of the fun "mountain" adventures. The historic town of Luray was quite close with little shops and restaurants and of course the amazing Luray caverns which our boys really enjoyed! There are also several canoe/kayaking organizations close by that allowed us the chance to explore the beautiful Shenandoah River. This home is also very close to the Thornton Gap entrance of Skyline Drive. This is a must see/do experience! From here we were able to hike several trails and enjoy the absolutely stunning scenery. At the end of the day we so enjoyed unwinding in the wonderful hot tub and watching the sun set over the mountains! Our family would highly recommend this awesome cabin without reservation! Andrea, thank you again for everything and we hope to be back in the mountains soon!
The cabin appears brand new. The layout is nice, with a kitchen opening into a dining room and living room. Long hallway to the bedrooms. The full basement is unfinished and opens out onto a patio under the deck, but we did not use and it wasn't advertised as usable space anyway. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, glassware, etc, and the entire cabin was very clean.
We watched the morning fog drift over the mountains from the hot tub, watched the sunlight turn the mountains different shades at dusk, enjoyed the firepit and awesome adirondack chairs. Absolute quiet as you are below the closest neighbors, and there is not a single person, building or non-natural item in your view.
We used the cabin as a base to explore the Skyline Drive, hiking trails, Luray Caverns, and more. Triple Crown BBQ had stellar chicken and ribs. Though it is cliche to say, we are actually considering staying here again. (We are from Chicago, so this was a road trip through NC and VA).
