This professionally decorated oceanfront townhouse on Sea Watch Drive in Summer Beach Village, a gated community, is most welcoming. An open floor plan on the first floor includes entry hall, living room, dining room and kitchen. There is also a separate laundry room with washer and dryer and a guest bathroom. The oversize two car garage completes the downstairs. The upstairs has an office and 3 en-suite bedrooms. There is wireless internet in this 2375 square foot home, and free local and nationwide phone calling. All the oceanfront rooms have plantation shutters.

Upon entering the front door hallway, you see the vast ocean thru the sliding glass doors beyond the living room. There is a new 42” HDTV with 3D wireless Blu-ray in the inviting living room, open to the dining room that has a table which seats 8. The kitchen is very well equipped with abundant storage space and an enclosed pantry. The large patio across the back has a table for eating outdoors, and also space to sit and enjoy the view. The dunes between the property and the beach are home to gopher turtles; they are fun to watch.

On the second floor are the home office, three bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Bathrooms are tiled as are the entry hall, back hall, laundry and kitchen. The living room, dining room, stairs, and bedrooms have Karastan carpeting.

A door off the hall opens into the master bedroom suite. Again, with spectacular views of the beach, this king-size bed bedroom has everything. It has a TV with DVD, a walk-in closet, and a large master bath housing double vanity sinks, built-in hair dryer, oversize stall shower, and Jacuzzi.

The second bedroom, again facing the ocean, has a queen-size bed and a bathroom with tub and shower plus a large closet and TV. Close the door to this en suite and you are in your own quiet oasis save for the sound of the sea. The large balcony off of this room and the master bedroom offer shade and comfort and spectacular ocean views.

Four twin beds are in the third oversized bedroom. This room has a small HDTV with Blu-ray, walk-in closet, and a stall shower in bathroom. A door off the main hall closes off this quiet room.

Diagonally across the street is a pool which offers privacy and shade. There are bathrooms and a place to rinse off. Boardwalks to the left or right go over the dunes directly to the sandy private beach. The Ritz Carlton is 1750 feet up the beach to the north.

About David Cox

We purchased this townhouse in 1999 because it was a great place to invite our children and grandchildren. As the grandkids grew their time began to fill with other activities, so we bought a home on the waterway with a dock. Winters are spent on Amelia Island, summers on Nantucket. We call Amelia the South's Nantucket.

Amelia Island has a great history and wonderful architecture. It's a real place with real business and real people and so far the fabulous resort communities on the south end haven't hurt it. The ocean keeps the winters mild, and it also creates terrific ocean breezes in the summer.

What makes this townhome unique

The layout is great, wonderful living space, the bedrooms are large, there is a very private second floor office, the garage opens into the laundry off the kitchen, and both the views and the sound of the surf are with you day and night.

This was a great townhouse in a neighborhood setting. The property was fully equipped with everything that was needed. We only had to bring our cloths, books, computers and food. Pool and beach were a short walk. Big sand dunes. Two bedrooms opened on an upstairs balcony with a great ocean view. Great master bathroom and the two car garage was a treat. This was a great location for a family reunion, our two grown sons, wives and grandchildren. Amelia Island had plenty to do for everyone. Nice old town for shopping and dining. Old fort. Golf. Kayaking. Drinks at the Ritz or the Spa. Antiques and playgrounds. Worked out great.
