Dan and Heidi moved to Austin in the early 90's right after college, both love the unique benefits and eclectic mix of people in Austin and wouldn't want to live anywhere else in Texas. Dan works as a financial analyst for the State of Texas and Heidi is a teacher at the Texas School for the Blind.
In my humble opinion this is the best neighborhood in Central Austin with everything needed within walking distance. I lived without a car here for a 4 year stretch and never felt stranded from anything I needed. The ability to get anywhere in central city by foot, bike or bus is definitely my favorite benefit of the location. There is also the plus of being in quiet family oriented neighborhood far enough north of the kids in west campus but only 1 block from the busy Guadalupe drag with its interesting mix of shops and people.
The house was my primary residence from 1996 until 2010 when I moved in with Heidi. Heidi and I have had some fantastic travels in the last few years and we stayed in some great vacation rentals and I wanted to be able to share that same experience with others coming to visit Austin. Since making this decision we have spent 3 months renovating the property inside and out keeping in mind what was most important to us when were staying in vacation rentals. We love the cozy feel of the house and the wonderful screened in porch for chilling out! The house has been furnished with a mix of brand new and used pieces with character. The modern bedroom furnishings, new couches and entertainment center are fabulous. Hope you have a lovely stay!
