Owner / Property Manager purchased this house in 2012
We travel a lot so I was looking for a property where I would want to stay if I were on vacation or live in the house permanently. Upon stepping into this house it was clear that the place met this criteria. The previous owners, planning to retire there, did a wonderful job of updating this 1970s home with all new carpet, stone flooring, counter tops and kitchen appliances. We added furniture and decor that matched the quality of the remodel rather than simply filling space with second-hand furniture. Our family spends time in the house as well so we understand it's attractions and aesthetics. We envision this as a comfortable and convenient place for guest to enjoy the many events and activities the Eugene area has to offer including world class Tack and Field, easy access to the coast and mountains, great local food and magnificent music such as the Bach Festival.
This house was perfect for our needs. It was clean and conveniently located near our soccer tournament. We used the adequately stocked kitchen for every meal which gave us the quality time with family that we wanted. It said that it slept 8 - we found a mattress under the bunks and had one sleep on the couch. It would have been nice to have a few more pillows. We used the charcoal grill. It should be noted that the bedrooms are downstairs, one of us had a bit of trouble with the stairs. We loved the fact that we could pull into the garage because it was raining when we arrived and did so intermittently throughout our stay.
The location is wonderful! The decor is modern and pleasant. We've stayed in many vacation rentals and the kitchen is solidly above average. Albertsons is four minutes from the house. Supplies are well stocked and it appears to have been frequented by experienced renters like ourselves that leave unused items behind to the benefit of the next guests. The laundry room is spacious. The View is gorgeous! Nice neighborhood. Dog friendly home and Amazon dog park is just ten minutes away, which our pups enjoyed. We will likely return. That said, I would not recommend this place as a top choice for those traveling with small children for a couple of reasons. It's a split level and the design of the railing would not be conducive to a safety gate. It's the style that requires a custom gate. The other reason for that portion of the recommendation is that we arrived to some safety concerns relevant to younger children; a broken rung on the ladder of the bunk bed, the top bathroom toilet seat, which has been reported by previous occupants, is an accident waiting to happen for a youngster because it's not affixed properly (broken hardware) and none of the rugs have non skid protection pads underneath. There is a running list from previous occupants dating back to 2013 of unaddressed things, not all mentioned in my review, however it is important to note a documented history of unreliable Internet. It is possible they're using a cleaning service that isn't relaying the list of needed repairs to them. I did leave a message about the bunk bed as it has clearly had a few unsuccessful repair attempts. The carbon monoxide detector isn't actively working either as someone has removed the batteries. Our group was two adults and two teens, so it wasn't as relevant to us personally, however pertinent to travelers with youngsters.
Home is very comfortable, nicely furnished -- including a good sized kitchen, and is situated on a quiet block in a beautiful forested area. About a 5-10 minute drive to the heart of Eugene. Owner was very gracious (make sure you have his phone number).
Great place to stay. Plenty of room and very quiet at night. Felt very comfortable and safe. Would recommend to others!
This house was perfect for our family's visit to Eugene for our son's U of O graduation. Perfect location, close to campus but in quiet private neighborhood. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking dinners and dining room perfect for our family. We enjoyed walking to the Hideaway Bakery for coffee and pastries. Highly recommend this house to travelers coming to Eugene. Only suggestion: property needs BBQ tools.Enjoyed using the BBQ for dinner, but never located BBQ fork, spatula or any metal tools. Looked high and low and could not find any in the garage or house.
We are located just south of the University of Oregon, Hayward Field, Autzen Stadium, Matt Knight Arena, the Hult Center and downtown Eugene. As track fans (we participate in Masters Track competitions) and supporters of the arts, we especially look forward to hosting guests for track and field championships and the Oregon Bach Festival. The home is located near miles of hiking trails, parks and recreation areas as well as all the amenities of this university town. If you stay with us you will also be an hour from the beach and Willamette Pass. If you're interested in fishing, running, or birding, we have some excellent suggestions and local contacts.
