POINT REYES RETREAT CLOSE TO NATURE AND TOWN

Inverness House Rental Photos and Description

Beautiful skylight-lit home nestled into a wooded hillside. Quiet, secluded location but close to everything - about two miles from Point Reyes Station, Inverness, and the Point Reyes National Seashore visitors' center. Plus an easy 5 min walk for coffee or a sandwich at Perry's Deli, or birding at the Giacomini Wetlands.

Built in 1919, the home features old growth redwood through out. Open, fully-equipped kitchen. Large dining / living room area with chairs for lounging in front of the wood-burning stove, and couches for relaxing and play games. One bathroom with a wood-paneled shower and tub. Two bedrooms - one has a Queen sized McRoskey bed, the other has a comfy double bed. There is also a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. Skylights in every room.

Right out the back door there are three the levels of patios dotted with ferns, providing views of the surrounding Douglas Fir and Bay forest. The first level is a brick patio with a BBQ, the second level has a table and chairs for enjoying a scenic lunch, and the third level has Adirondack chairs to enjoy the views or a good book.

The home has a separate second unit on the bottom floor, occupied by a full time local resident. A washer and dryer is available for use in a common area, shared by both units.

We love hiking, biking, and kayaking in beautiful places. And we're big fans of kind, ecologically-minded people, and delicious, fresh, local food. This makes us a good match for each other and for Point Reyes. We met in graduate school at UC Berkeley studying energy efficiency and renewable energy, and got married in Point Reyes in 2011. We live in Oakland, which is known as 'over the hill' to our West Marin friends.

GREAT PEACEFUL GET AWAY!

  • 4 of 5
We wanted to thank you for the chance to stay in your beautiful home in Inverness. We had a wonderful vacation! Great memories were made by all. We loved the quiet location of the property and all it had to offer. We enjoyed the fire pit out back and waking up to a sky light view of the redwoods each morning. The coast line was amazing, and we even got to see a whale and it's calf! We enjoy off the beaten path travel and this truly fit the bill. The quiet beaches were wonderful!
We appreciated your helpful tips and information. Everything in the house seemed to be in good order. The owners were great to work with, and we had a wonderful stay! This is definitely a place we would stay again, and recommend to family and friends.

COAST-LOVING FAMILY ESCAPE

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful time in this home. Right upon arrival we were thrilled with the space - all the wood, windows and trees. The home is lovely and comfortable, well equipped, clean with touches of simple beauty that echo the landscape, without being cloying or fussy. We slept well with cozy beds and linens, and ate well, enjoying the backyard bbq and way too many fresh oysters! We stoked the woodstove when it rained, and walked everywhere when the sun shone. Close to hiking trails (we backpacked to Sky Camp from the house) and the bay. We enjoyed the Point Reyes Farmer's Market and Yoga Toes Studio. Merrian was a gracious and helpful host. We will come again!

GREAT FAMILY VACATION

  • 5 of 5
Spent 10 relaxing days in this very nice and cozy house in the middle of a lush forest. The listing description and photos were accurate, and the place was inviting. Everything was well maintained. The owner was responsive and helpful in answering questions by email. The house and location is very secluded and quiet, but attractions like San Francisco, Napa/Sonoma valleys, beaches, Russian River area, and nature preserves are within easy day trips. You definitely need a car to get around. We did not miss the lack of TV. We did appreciate the wireless, the various board games, and the grill outside. Overall a wonderful stay! We would definitely recommend this property to a friend or a relative and hope to come back some day.

A GREAT FIND

  • 5 of 5
Our family of four had a wonderful time spending the week-end here. The house is in the woods, very peaceful and lovely. Because of the skylights in every room and many windows it was truly like being in the forest, and not dreary, even during rainy times. The kitchen is well-equipped and has plenty of space. The house has plenty of space--a separate dining area with table and living area. Everything we needed was provided. The listing was accurate, the owners were extremely helpful and responsive, the photos were accurate. It was only five minutes from Point Reyes Station, but felt quite secluded in the house. We loved it!!

AWESOME, QUIANT

  • 5 of 5
I absolutely loved my stay at this house. Everything was very clean, well kept, and extremely cozy. It is quiet and feels like you are alone in the woods but also conveniently located to the cute local stores and restaurants. I had a blast hiking the local trails, visiting the beach, and kayaking in the bay.
