The house lives up to all the advertisement. Our family had a wonderful Christmas. Our hostess, Imelda had thought of everything. The fields of green that surround the house reminded us we were really in Ireland.
Our grandson is going to school at Limerick so the family came to him for the holidays. Flemingstown House was the type of family house we had hoped to find. Every one congregated in the wonderful kitchen and we had the best of everything we needed right at hand. It was warm and comfortable and beautifully decorated for the holidays. We all had our own rooms for privacy. Our hostess, Imelda made us feel as if this was truly our home.
From the moment we arrived at Flemingstown House we were completely charmed. The house is lovely and historic and yet so very comfortable. Imelda is definitely the hostess with the mostess! She made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. She had a delicious breakfast waiting for us...a very appreciated and unexpected touch after a 12 hour flight from California. The main house is simply spectacular. All 5 bedrooms were extremely comfortable (best beds ever!) and there are many 5 star touches such as the slippers for each guest and the softest, coziest linens I have ever felt. The entire house was just so charming on so many levels. We feel fortunate to have stayed there for an entire week. The sun room became a very special spot for our 85 year old mother to read and nap in. The kitchen is equipped with everything we needed and we enjoyed a number of wonderful family dinners on the large, lovely dining room table. Imelda was extremely generous and graciously provided delicious food for us in the fridge so we wouldn't have to immediately run to the store. The house is part of a working farm. We loved watching the cows grazing in the surrounding fields. We felt we got a good sense of farm life in Ireland. It was not just a place to stay, it was a real. A place that made you feel a little closer to Irish life. Imelda was available when we needed her but also very respectful of allowing us total privacy to enjoy our family time. We traveled to Ireland for a family vacation with our 4 grown children and our mother...so there was a total of 7 of us and we all loved our time at the Flemingstown House. Highly recommend!
After a long day of travel, we arrived at Flemingston House. We were greeted by Imelda and a "hamper" of wines and cheeses and homemade scones. Imelda even made gluten free scones for my son with celiac. She was a wonderful hostess and never intrusive.
We traveled with our four children ages 21 -13. We wanted to see all the sites of Ireland in the short time we were there. We were able to take day trips and return home in the evenings where we would throw something on the grill we got from the many butchers we passed during our travels. We would then hoist a few Guinesses and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the mountains and beautiful pastures.
The house is fully modernized and beautifully maintained. It really lacks for nothing. We consider ourselves some pretty picky travelers with high standards. To please us all is not an easy feat!
Thank you Imelda for sharing your home. It is a trip we will not soon forget!
This was a once in a lifetime trip for 9 family members and spouses going to Ireland to honor our father who would have been 100 years old this year. We found the house on the internet and believe me we were worried until we pulled into the driveway, From that minute on we were delighted. The house and facilities were beautiful, an amazing blend of antiques and the latest in comfort. Everything was spotlessly clean and in perfect working order. The day we arrived Imelda prepared an amazing meal and she and her helpers spent time with us fine tuning our plans for day trips with local insight. When we called her one day to ask where we could find steaks for a special meal we wanted to have, she offered to get them from her butcher for us. We made a friend and found a home away from home. I would recommend Flemingstown House to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable place to stay with the best service they will ever receive.
Our vacation group of ten adults had the pleasure of staying at Flemingstown House in late July 2013. Our host, Imelda, greeted our weary group with a delicious, traditional Irish breakfast - a perfect start to our stay. She then efficiently and adequately showed us everything we needed to know about the house to ensure a comfortable stay, and she then left us to relax for the week, checking in every few days to see if we needed anything. She is a remarkable host, and she clearly understands how to deliver a quiality product to her guests.
The house itself is amazing - a perfect combination of antique furniture, modern day amenities and a setting that invokes relaxation. We sat in ornate, yet comfortable, antique chairs while surfing the web on the house's hi-speed wireless internet, and we cooked many of our own meals in the old farmhouse kitchen with modern cooktops (2), convection ovens (2), microwave and automatic espresso machine. It's an incredible setup with everything you need should you choose to cook some of your meals. But if you're not into cooking, you'll have many dining options to choose from including excellent restaurants and pubs - we became particularly fond of those in Adare!
The living areas are spacious and comfortable. On our weary arrival day, we all spread out on comfy couches in the TV room to watch The Open Championship's final round and dozed in an out. The bedrooms are neatly decorated with very comfortable beds, and each room has its own bathroom allowing for quiet and private personal space.
Flemingstown House is centrally located making it a perfect home base for day trips in any direction, and its setting makes you feel like you're truly "home" at the end of a busy vacation day. So whether you're planning a golf trip, sightseeing trip or just need to get away to a quiet vacation location, I would highly recommend Imelda and her Flemingstown House. With the combination of her genuine hospitality and the property's physical beauty, you will truly be glad you stayed there. Slainte!
