Without Compromise

I have been visiting Charleston since before Hugo, and Bridge House was by far the best place I ever stayed. To begin, the location is fantastic. In addition to being short walk to the Battery, Waterfront Park and best restaurants, bars, shopping and tourist attractions, it is across the street from Harris Teeter, the Peninsula’s only grocery store. This may not seem like much, but if you are cooking meals for family and friends while on vacation, you are sure to forget something, and having a grocery store across the street is a big plus. As much as I love downtown, traffic and parking on the Peninsula are things to avoid at all costs. A liquor store and pharmacy are also on the same block.
In addition, with the East Side location getting up to 17 and out to West Ashley or Mount Pleasant could not get any easier.
Bridge House also stood out, because the owners cut no corners. Most vacation rentals are rentals and the owners stock the home with beds, linens, and kitchen utensils etc that have seen better days. Bridge House is not only new top to bottom, but everything in it is top of the line. The beds are as comfortable as you will find anywhere, including your own home. The kitchen spares no expense. The appliances are the ones you wanted to buy, but could not bring yourself to pay for, and all the utensils are new, sharp and in perfect working. The knives were as sharp as any I have ever used, and I cook 21 meals/week. Over the weekend, I prepared a half dozen meals including two elaborate dinners and the kitchen was extremely well laid out and wanted for nothing. My travel companion had to tear me out of the place.
In short, the place was a pleasure to stay in and provided everything you could want for a great visit to the Holy City. We were looking forward to going back before we even left.
