Located in Fairview, only 11 miles southeast of downtown Asheville (6 miles from city limits) and 6 miles from I-40 and the Blue Ridge Parkway, this private residence is in the country, yet very convenient to the many attractions of the area, including the Biltmore Estate, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock State Park, and (of course) the mountains with their spectacular views, waterfalls, and tourist attractions. Every season has its gifts, from summer festivals and craft fairs to fall color, winter holidays at the Biltmore House, and spring blossoms. The mountains of Western North Carolina, near Asheville, are one of most beautiful and relaxing places in the world, if you exclude pulling weeds.
The views from the 50+ acre property and lake are wonderful. The birds, horses, goats and other animals are a joy to behold.
The home was extremely clean and comfortable. I liked that everything was provided. We have a baby, and being able to make and store formula, and do laundry was fantastic. The area is nice and quiet, convenient to Asheville. The only drawback was the shower. The water pressure is so low I couldn't wash my thick hair, and the shower head is so low that at 5'6, I had to practically lean against the wall to get under the water stream. If they would fix this the place would be perfect.
My boyfriend and I brought our large dog to Moores Pond and had a wonderful time. We met Velvet the llama, and there were 6 kids born while we were there. Sarah and Chuck were very hospitable and helped us with all our needs. We only with we could have stayed longer!
I could not have been happier with the Gate House! Comfy, cozy, private.......absolutely wonderful. We cooked for a small crowd and had everything we needed for a great family gathering. I will definately be back in the spring to see the new babies! Guard Llama Velvet is so striking standing in the field that you can see from the house. And all the goats are so adorable. The fresh eggs for breakfast were a hit! Can't say enough about this jewel. The only thing I would mention is if you have elderly people visiting the front stairs can be a little challenging. Other than that.......perfect!
Nice, quiet location in the woods. Just what I needed. Close to Blue Ridge Parkway & Asheville. Nicely stocked kitchen. Enjoyed trail on the property. Appreciated the toiletries, etc. Most places do not provide those kinds of things. Hope to return sometime in the future.
We stayed here for seven weeks while transitioning to the area and this was a wonderful place to be. The owners are fantastic and committed to your experience. The home was comfortable and inviting for our family of three. We loved sitting out at the firepit gazing at the mountain view and taking our evening stroll through the goat pasture. Our son was even able to "help" milk the goats a few times! The amish farm within walking distance was a fun treat on Saturday mornings - coffee and sticky buns - yum! We loved the entire experience and would highly recommend this vacation to anyone!
Just a short drive from Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway, yet quiet and peaceful. The house is clean, well furnished and stocked, and totally comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and the goats are so much fun to interact with. We want to go back!
