We are a local east bay and San Francisco family that fell in love with Sonoma and bought a second home there. It is one of our favorite get away spots and are happy to share our home and Sonoma reccomendations with you!
The Owner purchased this house in 2012
The lush creekside backyard, pool and garden are amazing.
Villa Sonoma is a great retreat from city life- but is also walking distance to Sonoma Square and wonderful food/drink on the way to town. It is the best of country living with easy accessibility.
This house was great for our girls weekend away, the pool was pretty warm so we could swim at night, the house was clean and cozy and was a great layout for friends or families. The house had everything we needed and was close to town and close to wineries. Reserving this property was easy and the manager was incredibly responsive and pleasant to work with. We'll definitely look this property up next time we're headed to wine country!
We rented this darling home for a long weekend to tour Sonoma's wineries. Everything was exactly as described. The home is truly fully-equipped...we wanted for nothing! The location is close enough to town without having the noise or traffic. Located in a very quite neighborhood, we enjoyed walking the streets close by and enjoying the fabulous yards, all abloom with the largest roses I've ever seen. There were 4 adults and we had plenty of room. The pool was a pleasure in the evening as we enjoyed the local food and wine. I know everyone in our group would certainly return as well as recommend this home for anyone taking a trip to Sonoma!
My parents and I stayed here this past weekend. The house and kitchen where great. We would highly recommend this home and plan on returning in the future. The owners make sure you are well taken care of.
I stayed here along with 7 of my girlfriends for my best friend's 30th Birthday weekend and we all fit very comfortably! The house was easy to find which was right off one of the main roads. I had been looking for a place that was affordable for everyone as well as having enough space just in case 1 or 2 more friends joined us. I was also looking for a central location that would be in town. This was quite a gem to find!
Stephanie, the owner was a wonderful host. Her instructions and guidelines were simple, straightforward and easy to follow, and she was very pleasant to communicate with (especially since my friends and I had many questions regarding availability of items in the house and the number of people we were expecting!).
The house was pretty much fully stocked and very well maintained. Clean and cozy! I believe the only thing we couldn't find was a large stock pot to boil pasta, but we were able to make it work with the other small pots provided! Everything was easy to find in the house and the interior decorations/design were very pleasant. We could have stayed there for more than just the weekend. We all didn't want to leave! We also had fun playing pool in the living room/family room which by the way, does not have a tv - the tv is actually located in the dining room area, but it was a nice flat screen and we didn't mind not having the tv in the living room and it was still comfortable to watch in the dining area. Which is my favorite section of the house!
The dining area had a nice big table able to fit up to 8 comfortably (one side of the table had a long bench so that was really nice since it provided more space. And next to the dining table was a comfortable couch. My friend who was up early in the morning got to enjoy reading a book while the sun shined in through the windows! The kitchen itself was kind of small (about 4 people could prepare in the area comfortably, but we loved how it was an open space to the whole dining room!
We did not use the backyard/pool area because the weather was cold that weekend, but it was nice to sit out in the morning since the sun rose on that side =)
The driveway could fit about 2 cars comfortably and I believe also 2 cars in the garage but we only had 1 car in there.
We went wine tasting which was very fast and easy to get to from the house's location. A Safeway was right down the street as well as Sonoma plaza (just a few minutes away!)
I HIGHLY recommend this property!!!
I rented this house with a group of friends for the weekend. We were shocked how cute the house was decorated and arranged. The pictures were accurate but seeing the house in person was another story. The house was VERY clean and provided everything one might need from plastic dishes for the patio, towels, hair dryer, etc.
I thought the location was perfect to visit downtown Sonoma and the wineries into Santa Rosa. Even coming back from our Napa day, I still enjoyed the location of the house.
Stephaine, was great in helping plan this stay. She responded quickly to my emails and provided information on locations and events going on around Sonoma.
We arrived only to discover that photos just cannot do justice to this lovely house -- it is perfectly and artistically laid out and decorated, scrupulously clean, and beautifully spacious.
We enjoyed the pool in the afternoons, the pool table in the evenings, the superbly comfortable beds and the generous amenities. Every little thing has been thought out; from plenty of clean towels and extra bedding to pantry necessities and patio dishes and glasses. There are plenty of board games on hand, as well as a croquet set to enjoy in the gorgeous, lushly-grassed side yard.
Location is perfect -- we walked into town for dinner every night, and for browsing in the shops during the day. We especially loved Mamma Tanino's for awesome pasta and the loveliest owners, Harvest Moon Cafe and the Red Grape.
Don't miss the pretty town square, and the historically interesting Mission in town. We also hiked the Sonoma lookout trail, a not-too-challenging, very well maintained trail that rewards walkers with a beautiful overlook of the Sonoma valley. We even saw tiny lizards along the way....definitely worth a look. An hour's drive towards Guerneville takes you to the Armstrong National Forest, home of the tallest redwoods. It's another beautiful hike, with completely different vegetation from the typical wine valley trails.
All in all, none of us wanted to leave! We will most certainly return to this lovely home when we return to Sonoma (hopefully sooner rather than later!).
The owner, Stephanie, was wonderfully professional, friendly and quick in responding to us by email, and very helpful in suggesting great nearby restaurants and activities. She was a joy to deal with, and I have already recommended her lovely home to our family and friends.
