The Pine View Bungalow is a two bedroom, two bath home perfect for one or two couples or a small family. The house is located on scenic Highway 1 at the north end of the fishing village of Bodega Bay, nestled in its own pine grove. Situated at the back of a large double lot adjacent to the Pine View Cottage the house provides privacy with no close neighbors. There is ample parking for your car(s) or boat(s). We welcome you and your well behaved canine.
Pine View Bungalow was completely remodeled in 2011. Upon entering the home, you will immediately notice the beautiful finishes including 14' vaulted ceilings paneled in knotty pine, the rock faced gas fireplace, the wainscot and the numerous windows that take advantage of the fantastic view. The living room is furnished with a comfortable love seat , chairs and a large coffee table perfect for laying out a puzzle or playing games. Additional amenities include free Cable TV, DVD/CD player with surround sound and high speed wireless Internet.
The first bedroom has a queen bed, vaulted knotty pine ceiling and a large sliding glass door that opens onto the back patio and the pine grove. There is a bath directly across the hall from this bedroom that has a tub/shower combination and also houses the stacked washer and dryer. Up two steps is the spacious master bedroom, also with a queen bed and a sliding glass door that opens on to the patio and hot tub. Up five steps is a spa-like master bath that features a glassed in shower with a river rock floor, and a vaulted, knotty pine paneled ceiling. There is a hot water on demand system for the house that provides unlimited hot water (although we encourage water conservation).
The kitchen is fully furnished with all the equipment necessary to prepare fantastic meals. You might even use vegetables bought at the seasonal Bodega Farmer's Market or locally caught sea food, particularly dungeness crab purchased from any one of several sources within a 1/2 mile of the house.
If you enjoy cooking like we do, you may never want to leave the house, but if you choose to treat yourself to a great meal, the Michelin rated Terrapin Creek Cafe is directly across the street. There's nothing better than walking to dinner - enjoying great cuisine, drinks and dessert - and not having to get in your car!
A private patio runs the length of the back of the house and contains the hot tub, table and chairs and a Weber barbecue. Relax in the hot tub at night and watch the fishing boats come into the harbor, and, on the 4th of July, watch the fireworks while you soak in the tub.
Also across the street is a kite shop with bins of salt water taffy, several art galleries featuring local artists, a small coffee house, spa, and a cute souvenir and apparel shop.
A short walk will take you to Porto Bodega where you can charter a fishing trip on one of the many charter boats, pick up locally caught seafood, or just explore the harbor and sample some of the best crab and clam chowder on the coast.
There are many recreational activities within a mile of the house, including golf, windsurfing, fishing, hiking, biking, kite flying, beachcombing, kayaking, bird and whale watching. Or you can explore nearby towns, such as Occidental (eat at Negri's restaurant), Freestone (Osmosis Spa is a must) and the Russian River area. Or just take a drive north on Highway 1 along the most spectacular coastline in the world. You won't be disappointed.

About Rebecca Mills
Robert and Diana Mills grew up in Sacramento County and currently live in a house Robert built in El Dorado Hills where they raised their two children. Robert spent many years as a custom home builder, and has built numerous custom homes in the exclusive American River Canyon area in Folsom, California. Robert then had a career change and developed Metro City Soccer, an indoor soccer arena, which he still owns. After raising their children and managing the household, Diana went to school to fulfill her dream and passion for landscape design. She has an innate ability for knowing which plants to use in which location. She is especially good at succulent plant design and has put her design ideas into practice at the Pine View Bungalow.
Becky (Robert's sister) and husband Kevin Dougherty both grew up in Sacramento County. Kevin has been coming to Bodega since he was eight, and he and Becky spent their honeymoon here. They recently retired from civil service after more than 30 years, and currently live in Fair Oaks, California. Becky likes all things craft, and Kevin is an avid chef and gardener.
Rebecca Mills purchased this bungalow in 2010
Why Rebecca Mills chose Bodega Bay
In 2010, Robert and Diana and Becky and Kevin had the wild idea to buy a little 'fixer' house somewhere in the Russian River area, where Diana's family has owned property for over 100 years. After looking at a lot of homes and making offers without success (our realtor almost gave up on us!) Robert and Diana drove to Bodega Bay in the pouring rain to look at a house that was just listed. To make a long story short, they knew the little house at the end of town was 'the one'.
Money inherited from our cherished mother, Elizabeth Mills, allowed us to purchase the property in 2010. A simple remodel it was not. We ended up having to tear most of the house down to the foundation. It was rebuilt with the skills, knowledge, imagination and hard work of our own private contractor (Robert!). The result is a darling house with beautiful finishes that feels much larger than it's actual square footage. Robert then used his skills to remodel a little garage on the property that we now call the Pine View Cottage. It has the same nice finishes and shows the attention to detail that went into it's remodel. It is listed separately on VRBO and can be rented alone or as an overflow to the Bungalow.
Because it was raining the first time Robert and Diana saw the property, they didn't even realize there was a view until after we'd made our offer and went back to see it for a more careful inspection. Were we excited when we discovered that we could see not only Bodega Harbor but Bodega Head and the Pacific Ocean right from the window. What a bonus.
None of us ever dreamed we'd be able to have a house in Bodega Bay. But since we've been here, we've discovered more and more things that Bodega Bay and the surrounding area have to offer. We love every minute we get to spend in Bodega Bay and our little home away from home.
What makes this bungalow unique
The Pine View Bungalow sits at the north end of town and its extra large lot provides a real sense of privacy. It is the last house in the row of houses and is surrounded by an empty lot on the south side and undeveloped property on the east and north sides. The Pine View Cottage (a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom with kitchen, hot tub) shares the double lot with the Bungalow but both are completely separate and private. There is a beautiful pine grove behind the house, making it one of the most private homes in the area. Because the house sits at the very back of the lot there is ample space for parking cars and recreational vehicles in front.
We also love the location for its proximity to all of the art galleries in town and one of the best restaurants in the whole area.
