About Lisa M Charest

I practice industrial/organizational psychology, work as a mediator and teach Psychology at a local college. I have a wonderful daughter who helps me when she has time from her studies. I also run a small retail store in downtown St Petersburg and my partner (Mark) and I also care for his mother full-time as she lives with us so I do stay very busy. However, I take pride in decorating and trying to make the house perfect for you. I know how important a vacation is and really do my best to make sure you can have a great time! I have hand selected (with my daughters help in many cases) all of the items in the house and hope you enjoy the tasteful decorating and smooth layout!

Lisa M Charest purchased this cottage in 1985

Why Lisa M Charest chose St Pete Beach

This property has been in my family for a long time. It has been annual rentals for awhile until in 2012 I began updating the property and making it for vacationers! This area is paradise and it is wonderful to own a small part of an island!

What makes this cottage unique

Nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and the Tampa Bay, Pass-a -Grille Beach is a gem with water and white sand beach everywhere in an undeveloped little island. There are ten restaurants that are enticing, yummy and only a few blocks away. Cute shops and boutiques run along 8th Ave, the smallest downtown in the US which is perfect for strolling. Pass a Grille Beach is mostly a residential and very quiet beach- especially in the evenings. It is perfect for a life made for walking, rollerblading, cycling or swimming. The beach house is only a few steps from our beach trolley stop and the trolly can take you to wherever you want to go.. or you can just stay, enjoy the Sea Spray, the sea grapes and the local restaurants as they entice all who come to this area. Enjoy the local craftsman shop, Nancy Markoe Gallery, for local pottery or jewelry to take home. Bamboozled a cool funky store on 8th ave and above all enjoy the sunset that has made St Pete Beach & Pass a Grille the 'sunset capital of FL'.

This was the 2nd year we rented from Lisa and are booked again for next year. For any one not familiar with Pass-A-Grille I think it's St.Pete's best kept secret. You have Tampa Bay on one side and the Gulf on the other both easy to walk to. There are wonderful restaurants and shops once again easy to walk to. What you don't have here is all the commercialism that you find further up the beach. My husband loves the fishing which he can walk to just down the street. If you like bike riding it is definitely easy to get around. If you have a dog there is a wonderful dog beach at the end of the island. Best of all if you don't want to drive there are trollies that take you pretty much all over I know they go up to Clearwater.

But what makes our vacation perfect is Lisa. We have stayed in two different rentals and I cannot stress how clean they are. Also, Lisa has no problem in putting money into her properties she is very concerned that you are comfortable and is often seen on the grounds making sure everything is as it should be. I just loved the common area by our rental, the furniture is extremely comfortable and the view is incredible. I love just sitting out there and watching the boats go by on Tampa Bay (about 4 houses down the road) and about 6 houses down in the other direction is the Gulf. I'm not sure even Lisa knows this but on several occasions they were doing photo shoots right out in front for Bealls ads. I understand that HSN often uses Pass-A-Grille for some of their ads also. Really interesting to watch. And last but not least is the people if only just to say hi everyone is really friendly. I could go on forever on how special this place is and cannot wait to get back next year.

Late Review

My husband and I stayed in the upstairs unit in October. It was a celebration for both of our birthdays and our anniversary! It was a bit off putting to see the units at first! It was not exactly what we were expecting! That lasted about an hour:) Once we got inside, unpacked, change of clothes and then walking out to the beach and dinner... We fell in love with the area! The Units are wonderfully located to all that was important to us! Beach, Bay, market, restaraunts, bar, ice cream and shops!! We love the quote of this area compared to St. Pete beach area a few miles away!! The unit was spotless, the kitchen had all we needed! We cooked breakfast in every morning after our long walks around the area. One day we racked up 10 miles!!

Lisa the owner went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and safe ;)

We are looking to make this a yearly trip for our combo celebration EVERY year! Hoping Lisa allows us back ;)

Cafe Luna Bistro was the first place we went for dinner! Very nice! The Brass Monkey is a must too!! A big Ravens bar!! Good drinks, fun atmosphere! Our last great dinner was at the Pearl!!! A MUST!! We loved it and can't wait to go back!! See ya next October ;)

My husband and I stayed in this cottage/house for nearly 2weeks and enjoyed our stay very much. Weather was not great the first week so we had to spend a lot of time inside or out and about. Second week was amazing and we spent most of our time outside enjoying the beach, wonderful town or just sitting in the great covered in terrace area on the comfortable furniture visiting with the neighbours or just reading and relaxing. This place was a bit of a shock at first viewing as the living area was so small and in the kitchen. I thought it was from the photos a separate living area. Now I look back at the pictures I can put it together and realize it was a combo area and jokingly say you have to like the one you are with but who goes to Florida to sit inside. The house turned out to be just fine with everything in it we needed and very clean. The bedroom was separate which was great and the bathroom was spotless with storage bins for our cosmetic stuff. I loved the shower with the rainfall shower head. Everything went well during our stay and we enjoyed the bikes supplied by the owner to toot around the area on. Lots of storage and places to put our belongings. The owner checked in on us during our stay to make sure everything was OK and left a binder in side with lots of useful information about the area for us look at. We had a shared common yard area with the neighbours and I have to say we had great neighbours and enjoyed our time sitting in the terrace visiting with them. We loved the area and the proximity of the beach being just a couple minutes away from this house. Also the Bay on the other side of us just as close was beautiful to sit and look at from the terrace. We will be back to this area again as we loved its quietness and quaintness but maybe not for a few years as we have other places we want to see but when we do come back we will certainly keep this place in mind. Thanks Lisa for a wonderful vacation at your lovely cozy Starfish cottage. Great place for us to bring our dog also, for walking, dog beach in area, etc.

Loved it here! The unit is remodeled and super new/clean. The kitchen was well stocked with all the tools and gadgets you need to make all of your meals. Having bikes is great, we loved cruising around PAG looking at the beautiful houses. Stopped by Shaner's several times to grab fresh seafood for the grill. The beach is literally at the end of the block. Super easy to run back to the place to grab something, make a snack, ect. Perfect for 2 adults or 2 adults w/kids going on the pullout couch. Lisa was helpful and really cared about our experience, which was fantastic. We me some other really nice folks staying in the other units in the common outdoor area and everyone was really enjoying the space.

I love PAG for how quiet and quaint it is. I will definately be checking in with Lisa to see if this place is open the next time I come.

WOW, fantastic place

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful house on this ideal island. The location is simply fantastic just two houses from the bay and two houses from the beach, nice and relaxing. Lisa has everything one might need- for example my husband wanted to make me a daiquiri and lo and behold there was a blender! We had a great time riding the bikes around the island stopping by local restaurants, the little historic museum and just checking out this wonderful little hidden gem of a town. I would highly recommend this house to any couple!

cosy beachhouse

We stayed with our family (2 adults, 2 teenagers) for 3 days. Lisa was a great host and very helpful. Everything was as described. We enjoyed the bicycles and the wonderful area.

We would recommend the property to everybody but for 4 people to the space is a little tight.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review, yes, its a great place and I would agree two adults and two teenagers would be a bit tight. The environment is great with the outside hammock and the patio seating area but inside it could get cramped. This house is perfect for a single, couple or young family. One nice positive is the bathroom is accessible from the living-room or bedroom so that someone sleeping on the pull-out bed in the living-room doesn't have to travel through the bedroom to access the bathroom. Thank you for your note!
