LOCATED INSIDE A MISSOURI VINEYARD, PET-FRIENDLY & FREE KAYAKING

Camdenton House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6-10)

The Norton House sits right on the Lake with a breathtaking view of the Big Niangua arm and features hardwood floors and a newly renovated kitchen (2013) with granite countertops, new flat screen televisions and free wi-fi. There are 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths plus two additional queen roll-out sofas. All 3 bedrooms have queen beds.

Enjoy Sugarloaf Vineyards picnic grounds and kayaking, relax on the patio and watch the boating activity, grill your supper or eat out, then let the sound of nature lull you to sleep at night.

The Norton House is located at the Sugarloaf Vineyards west of Camdenton right where the Big Niangua tributary changes from a river to the Lake of the Ozarks. You'll be 'lured' to the Lake where the fishing is amazing for catfish, bass, crappie and walleye. Or play golf at either of two courses, Lake Valley Country club or Old Kinderhook (a Tom Weiskoph signature course).

One of the best features of this property and its sister rental, The Chardonel House, is the easy access to the Lake of the Ozarks. Nestled within the vines of the Sugarloaf Vineyard property you can walk to the Lake shore and enjoy the picnic grounds, fishing, or kayaking activities. You have free access to either a single or tandem kayak for the length of your stay and can pack a nice picnic lunch and your favorite beverages to enjoy while leisurely paddling the Niangua.

No matter what your perception of a perfect vacation is, you won't be disappointed with the relaxation and serene feeling you will have when you leave this refreshing property!

Owners are Ward & Barb Morris who moved to the Lake in 1985 and raised our 3 children in one of the most beautiful locales in the U.S.! Barb owned and operated several Lake area restaurants over the past 27 years and enjoys the fine art of cooking and especially, pairing food with wine! Ward takes weekend breaks from his Computer Consulting career to tend to over 1000 grapevines on the property and looks forward each fall to harvest time.

Barb Morris purchased this house in 2000

This property is adjacent to Ward & Barb's home and was purchased to expand the vineyard and now, opening in May of 2013, the Sugarloaf Vineyard Tasting bar with food pairings, occasional music and great friends! Our motto has always been, 'come to our place and we'll treat you like family'!

We fell in love with the quiet of the Lake and especially the Niangua Arm tributary with it's amazing wildlife. During the month February you can often spot as many as 700 great white Pelicans feeding on Lake fish for as long as 2 weeks as they migrate. This actually inspired the name of one of Sugarloaf Vineyards wines; the White Pelican, a dry white Chardonel. Other birdlife includes the great bald eagle, blue herons, egrets, seagulls, hawks, owls and host of other. In March, you can spot beautiful red foxes siring their new pups and of course, several deer like to walk through the vineyard and eat Ward's grapes (to his chagrin)! It's a great family setting for reunions or to get away from the city.

BEAUTIFUL AND PEACEFUL!

  • 5 of 5
We went for a girls trip and had a wonderful time! The house was beautiful and had plenty of space for all of us! The four bathrooms was a big plus with this many women in the house.
We loved sitting on the deck overlooking the lake with our morning coffee and our evening wine. The winery on site had very good wine and excellent food!
We were very close to Haha Tonka state park which is a must see.
We could not have asked for a better place to stay and look forward to returning again.

BEAUTIFUL LOCATION, GREAT STAY!

  • 5 of 5
Rented this vacation house for a family weekend, wonderful property! The house itself had a fantastic view of the lake and it was a short walk down to where the kayaks were available. The place was very clean, and couldn't have been more relaxing. Walked up to the vineyard to try the wine and some food, both were great. Ended up buying two bottles, one for the stay and one to bring home for my friends to try. Very impressed with this property and will definitely be coming back! Thanks for a wonderful weekend!

WINTER GET-AWAY

  • 4 of 5
This home was a wonderful site for a late-winter get-away. The home's kitchen and baths have been beautifully updated. The cedar trim gave the home a fresh, clean scent without being overpowering. The bed was comfortable, though bedside lighting would have been nice for those of us who enjoy reading before calling it a night. Though the weather was cool, we were able to enjoy an evening fire outside. Because the house had been winterized, we had one small issue with water upon arrival. However, the owner was responsive and helpful, and the issue was promptly resolved. The location was perfect...quiet and secluded, but close enough to main roads for exploring the lake region. My husband and I had a lovely time, and heartily recommend this charming house in the vineyard!

ANNUAL BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!

  • 5 of 5
Every year we choose a night or weekend away to celebrate birthdays with our best friends; 3 couples in all. In the past it has been one night away at a B&B. This year we chose SugarLoaf Vineyard for a 2-night stay. We were so happy with our choice! We had visited the winery earlier this summer & met Barb who took us on a tour of the Norton house & we decided right then that it would be our destination in November. It is unbelievably beautiful inside and very clean and new! And the view from the deck on the back overlooking the water was awesome! The beds were very comfortable. We had wine both nights at SugarLoaf's beautiful patio. The cedar woodwork is gorgeous! We visited Bridal Cave, which was a fun tour, and went to Casa De Loco winery. Both were very close to SugarLoaf. We didn't get a chance to build a bonfire down by the lake or kayak, but we will next time. We've already decided we're going back!

CAMDENTON GEM

  • 5 of 5
Part of me wants to give this property a horrible review just so I can keep this gem all to myself. This was a great long weekend getaway! Nestled in the trees, the view of the Lake off the deck was amazing! My family felt instantly at home and like we were in our own secluded paradise. Thank you for helping create long lasting family memories!

GREAT EXTENDED WEEKEND

  • 5 of 5
My family enjoyed a great extended weekend at both rental houses at Sugarloaf Vineyard. The houses were clean, well maintained, and in a restful area at Lake of the Ozarks. We brought our jet skis and had a great time on the lake. The only small issue we had was finding a ramp we could use to put the jet skis in the water. Sugarloaf had a wonderful picnic area right by the house where we could tie up the jet skis. And, of course, having the use of the kayaks and being able to bring our dog was topping on the cake. Barb and Ward were great to work with. Ward even let us use his battery charger when we couldn't get one of the jet skis started. Our family had a great time and hope to come back next year.
