About this property

Lake Home, near HaHa Tonka State Park, Free Kayaking & Outdoor Pavilion Gameroom

The Norton House sits right on the Lake with a breathtaking view of the Big Niangua arm and features wood floors and a newly renovated kitchen with granite countertops, flat screen televisions and free wi-fi. There are 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths plus two additional queen roll-out sofas. All 3 bedrooms have queen beds.

Enjoy the lakeside picnic grounds and kayaking, relax on the patio and watch the boating activity, grill your supper or eat out, then let the sound of nature lull you to sleep at night.

The kitchen is well equipped with fridge, range, microwave, dishwasher and side bar for your favorite beverages. Enjoy dinners inside in the dining area or outside on the patio so you don't miss the beautiful weather and wildlife! Or, there are several restaurants nearby from casual to fine dining. There is also a big green egg and and offset smoker grill if you like to BBQ. There is a nice, private firepit just outside the front door for your enjoyment.

The Norton House is located west of Camdenton right where the Big Niangua tributary changes from a river to the Lake of the Ozarks. You'll be 'lured' to the Lake where the fishing is amazing for catfish, bass, crappie and walleye. Or play golf at either of two courses, Lake Valley Country club or Old Kinderhook (a Tom Weiskoph signature course).

One of the best features of this property and its sister rental, The Chardonel House, is the easy access to the Lake of the Ozarks. The lakeside picnic grounds is a short walk down the hill from the house or you can drive down the concrete driveway to the park.

About a hundred yards up the driveway from the house is an open-aired pavilion clubhouse with games to enjoy or just sit and take in the lake view.

You have free access to 4 kayaks, singles or doubles, for the length of your stay (a $100.00 value) and can pack a nice picnic lunch and your favorite beverages to enjoy while leisurely paddling the Niangua! Please note that in early spring the Lake water level is drawn down about 5 feet to make ready for the spring rains but you can still launch the kayaks from our dock in the shallower water.

No matter what your perception of a perfect vacation is, you won't be disappointed with the relaxation and serene feeling you will have when you leave this refreshing property!

Springbreak get away!
This was our first time to Lake of the Ozarks, and we had a great time ! The home was clean and had a beautiful view of the lake. We saw several deer and lots of birds, including a Bald Eagle! The kids really enjoyed the games in the clubhouse, kayaking, and basketball. We loved the fact that the home was a close drive to Ha Ha Tonka state park, Bridal Cave, and waterfront restaurants. Thanks for a great experience! We are excited to visit again ! Ashley

Great as always
This was our 8th year visiting the Norton House. It is such a magical place with all the space you could need for a group of friends. Plenty of bathrooms, a nice big kitchen, dining, and living area. The outdoor space is perfect, with the fire pits at the house and down by the lake. It is very serene and peaceful. The hosts are great and responsive. We had a wonderful time as usual!

About the host

Hosted by Barb Morris

Host profile image
Owners are Ward & Barb Morris who moved to the Lake in 1985 and raised our 3 children in one of the most beautiful locales in the U.S.! Barb owned and operated several Lake area restaurants over the past 30 years and enjoys the fine art of cooking and especially, pairing food with wine! Ward retired from his Computer Consulting company and enjoys tending to the grapevines and taking care of the property.

Why they chose this property

It is close to town but still a great, country setting with 8 acres and lots of wildlife from deer to White Pelicans, Blue Herons and more! Ha Ha Tonka State park is just a few miles away and with a dozen hiking trails a great excursion anytime we want!

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with the quiet of the Lake and especially the Niangua Arm tributary with it's amazing wildlife. During the months of February, March, October & November you can often spot as many as 700 great white Pelicans feeding on Lake fish for as long as 2 weeks as they migrate. Other birdlife includes the great bald eagle, blue herons, egrets, seagulls, hawks, owls and host of other. In March, you can spot beautiful red foxes siring their new pups and of course, several deer like to walk through the vineyard and eat Ward's grapevines (to his chagrin)! It's a great family setting for reunions or to get away from the city.
