|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
Please note that January and February of 2015 the Chardonel House is fully booked but one of our sister properties, a 1 bedroom, 1 bath golf cottage at the Old Kinderhook Golf Resort is available. You may view this property at www.vrbo.com/652761.
You'll love the tranquil feeling you get when you see the 'million dollar' view this house has to offer! Spend days and nights gazing out over the Big Niangua arm of the Lake of the Ozarks and watching the boating and jetski activity, right from the privacy of your house.
This newly renovated (2012) 2 bedroom / 2 bath house is located at the Sugarloaf Vineyards west of Camdenton right where the Big Niangua tributary changes from a river to the Lake of the Ozarks. For larger groups we have a sister property next door that is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath and sleeps 6 to 10 people (VRBO listing 456932).
You'll be 'lured' to the Lake where the fishing is amazing for catfish, bass, crappie and walleye. Or play golf at either of two courses, Lake Valley Country club or Old Kinderhook (a Tom Weiskoph signature course). The master bedroom has a queen size bed, brand new flat screen TV, WIFI, and a picture perfect view of the Lake. The en-suite master bathroom has a walk-in shower and a washer/dryer. There is also a fold out futon in the Master bedroom for your kids or extra guest. The guest bedroom offers a queen bed and a flat screen TV.
The kitchen is well equipped with fridge, range, microwave and side bar for your favorite beverages. Ceilings are tongue and groove cedar milled from trees right off the property and give you that quaint, cabin-like and fresh smell of cedar! Enjoy dinners inside in the dining area or outside on the private patio amongst the grapevines so you don't miss the beautiful weather and wildlife! Or, walk to the vineyard tasting bar and enjoy a bottle of wine and unique food pairings as a lunch or dinner alternative.
The living room is spacious and outfitted with a new flat screen TV for your viewing pleasure and a DVD player for late night movies. There is a fold out couch for kids or extra guests in the living room.
One of the best features of this property is the easy access to the Lake of the Ozarks. Nestled within the vines of the Sugarloaf Vineyard property you can walk to the Lake shore and enjoy the picnic grounds, fishing, or kayaking activities. You have free access to either a single or tandem kayak for the length of your stay (a $105.00 value) and can pack a nice picnic lunch and your favorite beverages to enjoy while leisurely paddling the Niangua! There is also a charcoal grill and private patio located just behind the house.
No matter what your perception of a perfect vacation is, you won't be disappointed with the relaxation and serene feeling you will have when you leave this refreshing property!
Owners are Ward & Barb Morris who moved to the Lake in 1985 and raised our 3 children in one of the most beautiful locales in the U.S.! Barb owned and operated several Lake area restaurants over the past 27 years and enjoys the fine art of cooking and especially, pairing food with wine! Ward takes weekend breaks from his Computer Consulting career to tend to over 1000 grapevines on the property and looks forward each fall to harvest time.
Barb Morris purchased this house in 2000
This property is adjacent to Ward & Barb's home and was purchased to expand the vineyard and now, opening in May of 2013, the Sugarloaf Vineyard Tasting bar with food pairings, occasional music and great friends! Our motto has always been, 'come to our place and we'll treat you like family'!
We fell in love with the quiet of the Lake and especially the Niangua Arm tributary with it's amazing wildlife. During the month February you can often spot as many as 700 great white Pelicans feeding on Lake fish for as long as 2 weeks as they migrate. This actually inspired the name of one of Sugarloaf Vineyards wines; the White Pelican, a dry white Chardonel. Other birdlife includes the great bald eagle, blue herons, egrets, seagulls, hawks, owls and host of other. In March, you can spot beautiful red foxes siring their new pups and of course, several deer like to walk through the vineyard and eat Ward's grapes (to his chagrin)! It's a great family setting for renunions or to get away from the city.
My friends and I had a wonderful time. We thoroughly enjoyed having a fire and watching the night sky. The view was terrific! We spent time hiking Ha Ha Tonka State Park.
The property was clean and as advertised. We would highly recommend the property and, hope to return soon.
In spite of some rain we kayaked, drank wine around our fire while lying on the hammock and had wonderful pizza at the sugarloaf winery. Very pleasant hosts who made us feel at home. Well stocked cabin with great lake views. So peaceful.
The house was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, and the setting is just lovely. We loved the private back patio with its fire pit, grill, and hammock. Kayak use was a nice bonus, and the owners were very nice and helpful. Would definitely go back!
Love how quiet and well organized this long weekend was. It's like all the comforts of home in a peaceful place. The staff and wine were excellent. Highly recommend.
My husband and I were wanting a weekend getaway. We had no idea what was waiting for us at Sugar Loaf! The house was clean and beautiful, the views were spectacular! Kayak was fun and relaxing! We enjoyed pizza and a bottle of wine one night at the restaurant/winery. The fire pit was put to use! Barb and Ward, the owners, are so friendly! We'll definitely go back!
You will not go wrong by choosing this location for a getaway. The area is gorgeous and there so much to do. We asked if we could stay an extra day because it's that great of a place to enjoy. Everyone is so friendly and this is a very clean and neat establishment. There a cat we named goldielocks that came to visit each day and the owner's dog is the best. This is a piece of Heaven. P.S. the wine and food is so good
Located 3 miles west of Camdenton next to 2 pristine golf courses (Lake Valley and Old Kinderhook) and on a newly opened grape Vineyard property. Take advantage of the free wine tasting and free kayaking with your rental. For larger groups, Sugarloaf Vineyard also has a sister property that is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath sleeping 6 to 10 people (VRBO listing 456932). Nearby is Ha Ha Tonka State Park (Indian for 'laughing water') providing great hiking trails and Nature. Location great for boating and jet-skiing. Fishing is magnificent, an anglers dream!
