Cedarvale Lane is a beautiful walk and at the end is our private Jefferson Park with a Shale Beach. Water shoes recommended. You can then walk up to the old RailRoad Tracks that is now a walking Path. Walk North and you are a short distance to the North Hero Marina where you can get a meal at the Tiki Bar and there is a Swimming Pool. Keep walking to the end and you might see Fishermen fishing in the channel opening to Carry Bay.
For those who love to Run and Jog, Pelot's Point is a low traffic Dead End Road that offers clean air and scenic beauty of local Farms, Mountains along Lake Champlain.
Nearby is Pelot's Point Nature Area where there is a walking path through a mature forest to an open meadow where you can see the Green Mountains. The open Meadow has tall grasses that sway in the wind. Here you will see small Cedars and wild Apple trees, and your journey will take you through a dense path of cedars and eventually end up at the waters edge of Pelot's Bay.
We provide 2 Mountain Bicycles with helmets!
Pelot's Point Road is excellent for Bicycling! Traffic is light and the views are astonishing long this Lake Shore Road! The Bi-Way is on Route 2 and you can bicycle into Burlington via the Bicycle Ferry in South Hero for those who love a challenge.
Water Shoes a MUST if your swimming in front of the cottage or at Jefferson Park. There is a sandy beach nearby at the Alburg Sand Dunes State Park.
We provide 2 Kayaks & 2 Life Jackets.
We like to Kayak to Carry Bay just a 1/4 mile north of the Cottage and into Pelot's Bay. This season we plan to Kayak over to Cloak Island for Lunch! Kayaks each have a compartment for bringing food/water etc.
Lake Champlain is known for its sports fishing. We have seen schools of fish swim by on the Stairs Landing leading to the waterfront.

Rebecca and I want your stay to be the most enjoyable the property has to offer. With this we ask that you give us a chance to make anything you find bothersome with the Cottage known to us so that we may immediately remedy the cause of concern. If you find the cleaning is inadequate - we will get the cleaning service back in... If you find the furniture dirty, we will get it cleaned immediately! Just give us a chance to make it so and let it be known to us out of respect for the Cottage and all parties.
Steven & Rebecca Longe purchased this cottage in 2012
We initially purchased this property to get away from all the noise pollution that city life bombards you with. This property offers total peace and quiet for music recording. Rebecca enjoys reading books here, bird watching, walking, swimming, and biking. She enjoys the Privacy and serenity of the location and the whistling of wind through the many mature cedars hence the name Cedarvale Lane! Rebecca and I pictured above.
* Location of this property on Lake Champlain with its breathtaking panoramic view from inside the living room is absolutely spectacular. Very soothing to listen to the Lake Surf.
* PRIVACY - Private Road and cottage is barley visible through mature Cedars.
* Nature - Deer, Grey Fox, Raccoons, Chipmunks, Red and Grey Squirrels, Waterfowl, Blue Hearings, Loons, Eagles, Osprey, Hawks, King Fishers, Flycatchers, Chickadees, Robins, Cardinals & Nuthatch.
* 100 Feet of Direct Waterfront
The Lake for Kayaking and the Peninsula for Walking, Hiking and Biking!
We decided to spend the most important day of our lives at Steven and Rebecca's cottage. It is the most beautiful and tranquil place we've ever been to. The views of the lake will be forever embedded in our memories! The cottage is very clean, well equipped and secluded. We enjoyed riding bikes along scenic Cedarvail lane to a nearby park on the lake. We highly recommend Steven and Rebecca as hosts and can't wait to visit the cottage again!
Steven and Rebecca have created a magnificent lake front home. The cottage is spacious and has everything one needs for a cozy getaway. The location is by far perfect. It is private, quiet and serene. The view of the lake is exceptional. Nothing compares to hearing the relaxing sounds of the water while sitting on the deck drinking coffee in the morning. My boyfriend and I also had the ability to explore and enjoy Vermont's nature which was all around us. For more intense hiking one needs to drive out a bit further. But there were plenty of whimsical trails within arms reach. We highly recommend this cottage. We definitely plan to visit again.
Such an unforgettable experience spending our wedding anniversary at the cottage on Lake Champlain! Not only did it offer privacy and tranquility when you need it, there are also so many fun and adventurous activities that you can explore within the surrounding area. Besides the spectacular lake view, the cottage had everything we needed during our stay. Some of the places and activities we recommend:
Skinny pancake, Switchback brewery, Das Bierhaus and Muddy waters cafe in Burlington,
Snow Farm winery tour in South Hero;
Taste of Vermont farmers market in St Albans;
The Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge- hiking, beautiful in fall colors;
Island line biking trail in South Hero.
There is so much more we'd like to explore next time we visit, there's Montreal, Mt. Mansfield and so on...
Great week for my husband and I to leaf peep, hike, and be close to Burlington so I could leave to attend my 40th reunion.
The house was perfect for the two of us. Steve met us with local coffee and gave us a thorough house tour. When the weather cooperates this home has special sunsets! We had a lovely time. Thank you.
My wife, two kids and small dog stayed in this cabin in mid-late August for five days.
Peaceful and quiet
Lake-front location with lovely views
Access to Montreal and Burlington - although note that Montreal is about an hour and a half, not the "less than an hour away" listed with the house description
Cramped confines: awkward layout with over-sized LR furniture, small dining area, tiny kitchen, and single bathroom off kitchen. Definitely plan basic meals and don't plan on having any help in the kitchen (and hope no one needs to use the bathroom! :) It was too cold to use the outdoor picnic table at night, and indoor table really only large enough to seat two comfortably
Poorly-equipped kitchen: literally no room for grocery storage, little counter space for food prep, aging kitchen-ware and appliances, missing some basic household items like a cheese grater
No lake access - we were advised not to use only after we arrived due to safety issues. Unfortunately, we rented a stand-up paddle board for the week which we were unable to launch from the house.
Nearby towns lacking - we were hoping for a more active small-town life, but in actuality the towns in the area have depressingly little to offer
Lovely Cabin in a beautiful setting, with everything you could hope for. Owners could not have been more helpful and responsive. My only problem is that I am allergic to some types of dogs and since the cabin was dog friendly I could not sit on the couch without getting itchy...
Not far is Burlington, where there is live entertainment at the Flynn Theatre. The Church Street Marketplace for Shopping and Dining. You can utilize the Bike Path that stretches from Burlington to the Champlain Islands - South Hero. We have biked this route many times from our Shelburne home to the Islands having lunch at Seb's Snack Bar. Very scenic you'll love it!
