We are a family run business serving families and groups of people from all over the country and we are so very happy to share our beautiful Lodge and views with you.

Sue Singleton purchased this lodge in 2004

The Location of the Lodge itself is on a remote mountain lake with spectacular views where you can truly get away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives and enjoy the quiet of the wilderness broken by the occasional coyote howling in the distance. At night we have very little light pollution up here on the Lake and star gazing is a favorite past time. If you have a telescope and are looking for a great location to star gaze while on vacation this is a great place located at an elevation of 8,300 feet.

The location to the Lake is wonderful and a short walk to the mouth of the Florida River where it empties into Lemon Lake. This is the honey spot for trout fishing.

No need to travel to the forest because you’re right in the middle of the San Juan Forest with your own private access to the Forest from Lemon Lake Lodge property. Just walking out the door from the Lodge is a door opening into the wilderness. From there all you have to do is put one foot in front of the other and you're in prime wilderness and at times you may feel like you’re footsteps are the very first footsteps ever on your path.

We are located near two major trail heads for hiking and horse/mule pack trails. The trails are very well maintained and offer all levels of experience to enjoy.

No neighbors that you can see from the Lodge. It is total un-obscured wilderness and mountain lake views

We LOVE Lemon Lake Lodge!!

I am the advisor for a student organization focused on wellness at Fort Lewis College. This is the second year that we visited Lemon Lake Lodge for our annual retreat and we were so pleased. There is plenty of space for a larger group in the main lodge alone. We love how relaxing it is out there and got a lot of bonding and work done sitting in front of the fire. The dinner table gave us room to all sit down for meals together, which was really nice. John & Sue, the owners, were very accommodating and pleasant to work with. It's definitely not a brand name hotel type lodge and that's what we LOVE about it. It feels so good to be out in the mountains, listening to the coyotes at night, hanging out with the horses, hiking along the lake. You can be sure that we will be back next year.

What a delightful experience - took the grand kids for a 5 night stay at Lemon Lake Lodge outside of Durango. Gorgeous scenery with a large lake surrounded by national forest. The kids loved all the activities - horseback riding, hiking, boating, and fishing. The sight is in the forest so you feel a million miles away from civilization, yet Durango (a beautiful, historic town worth exploring) is only 20 minutes away. the lodge was very comfortable and big enough that we could all spread out and relax. The host family was very gracious and accomodated every request we made - we will be back

Family Vacation

It was a pleasure meeting and getting to know John and Sue. They were very attentive to our needs and made sure our stay was comfortable and memorable. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed Lemon Lake Lodge. The Lodge was very large and had all the comforts of home. The location was so beautiful we never wanted to leave. All you needed to do was look out of the large windows or sit on the deck and gaze at the Colorado mountains at their finest. Lemon Lake was about 1/3 the size of normal but we had a great time at the lake; catching and releasing many trout and salmon. The entire family had such a fabulous time and were not ready to leave. But reality is reality, Lemon Lake Lodge is now just a wonderful memory. Thank goodness for photos and video.

SO MUCH FUN AND GREAT MEMORIES!!

My family and I just stayed here for a few days and let me tell you, it was B_U_T_FUL!!

We had so much fun relaxing, playing games, watching tv, and enjoying the amazing scenery. The lodge was well accommodating to us and then some. We felt like it was home away from home. There were fresh towels laid out for us and the place looked very clean.

The owners let the kids feed the chickens (which they had a blast doing), and they also let them feed the horses that were right outside the house. Even the dog had a great time running in the field infront of the house. We also had a campfire where the kids got to roast marshmallows (again they had a blast).

It really was a fantastic time. If you really want to get away and spend QUALITY time with your family or even your friends, you want to come here. Its spectacular. Thank you Lemon Lake Lodge for making us feel like home and giving us great memory and we will surely be back!

Such a disappointment!!

When we arrived at 5pm, we found the lodge wasn't clean nor ready for our extended family. The owner, John, was still cleaning the place when we arrived & gave us some excuse about his housekeeper being on vacation or with a broken leg. He then dumped the dirty wash water on the steps to the front door as he left. The bathrooms were filthy & the dishes in the kitchen all needed to be rewashed before eating on them. The quality of the tap water was questionable, so we were glad we brought bottled water. It could be because his horses & chickens roamed over the well area! We can't stress enough how filthy this place was, inside & out, with chicken & horse poop all over the yard. The owner, John, had apologized profusely for the filthy place & had offered to deduct a night's rate, but then the day we were leaving he presented a bill for $250+!! He was nice enough & tries to accommodate, but his memory must be failing as he couldn't remember cutting our rates or how long we had made our reservation for!!

Caution staying here! If you do decide to not heed our warnings: Get your stay & rates in writing. Bring your own drinking water & transportation to take you the 2+ miles down to the water. There is no WiFi nor cell coverage.

Owner's Response: In response to your stay. Yes I was still cleaning when you arrived and was exhausted as other guests didn’t leave until that morning and could not get help on short notice; however the only thing that was not finished is the one upstairs bathroom where I forgot to remove the trash basket I left out to put in a trash bag in and the downstairs tub where the mop bucket had left residue from the bottom and I had not finished cleaning that tub before your arrival, other than that the bathrooms were clean, fresh linens and towels, new soap/toiletries, all rooms were cleaned, dusted, beds freshly made and floors mopped. The dishes were washed and I explained when using the dish washer it left a residue from the hard water. The tap water is good and is produced from a well that is 200 feet underground. Also supplied is fresh spring water in a five gallon water cooler. Your reservation was for 3 nights, however when I went over the fourth day to clean and turn over for our next guests I found all your belongings still in the Lodge and was not aware you decided to stay an additional night. You all seemed to enjoy your stay until I gave you a bill for the additional night of which I gave a $100. credit for any misunderstanding. As far as your rates, you were given a nightly rate plus tax, for the three nights booked earlier in the year and that was exactly what you were initially charged until you added an additional night. It was only after charging you for the 4th night you expressed any dissatisfaction or complaint. There is no cell phone coverage here in the mountains which is advised under the property details on VRBO, however we do supply a land line in the Lodge for our guests to use at no charge for either local or long distance calls. Also, we do have internet/wifi, but as also stated under property details, on VRBO, it is slow and the best available in the area. The water in the lake is very low due to this year’s draught of which we have no control over. This is not a Hilton but we try very hard to make it a clean and comfortable place for large gatherings of family and friends to have a great time. Your booking was for 16 to 20 people staying here, of which I enjoyed meeting several in your group, and was devastated by your expression of such disappointment. For as bad as you express, why did you extend your stay an additional night? I can only attribute your disappointment as to some people want something for nothing.
