The Stillwater House has everything you want for your Montana vacation!
The Stillwater House is located in open fields on the bank of the Stillwater River. To the North, West and East are expansive vistas of fields and mountains as far as the eye can see. The Southern exposure is wooded and allows scenic views of the meandering river.
You will thoroughly enjoy this central location in the Flathead Valley... Although the Stillwater House is only 10 minutes from downtown Whitefish and Kalispell shopping, it has a secluded feeling as though it is in a world of it's own.
The Stillwater House property includes 70 acres of open fields and wooded river frontage. You will enjoy the large green lawn and the secluded hot-tub hidden beneath the river bank. The private dock allowing full access and use of the river is literally a stone's throw from the back deck.
Swim, fish and raft the river. Play horse-shoes in the shade of the spruce and fir trees. Explore the 1/2 mile of wooded river frontage, being sure to keep an eye out for deer, wild turkeys, beavers and even bald eagles. Bring your bikes (or rent, in town) for excellent mountain biking within riding distance of the house. Enjoy late evening fires and s'mores around the fire-pit in the back deck.
The Stillwater House is a contemporary home designed to maximize the resident's enjoyment of the beautiful surrounding environment. This house was designed with many picture windows to allow full enjoyment of the Montana experience, even while indoors! Whether it is the deer crossing the open field, or the sunrise/sunset over the mountains. You won't miss a thing!
First Floor: Kitchen, dinning, and living room... This open floor plan invites complete involvement of the whole group in the activities. The floorplan was designed to encourage togetherness and group interaction. The Stillwater House is perfect for summer entertaining! Even while cooking and barbequeing, no one will feel left out! The kitchen is fully stocked and includes two refrigerators, a gas stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee grinder and Bunn coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans, dishes, and every utensil you'll need. The kitchen is even stocked with basic spices and condiments, as well as paper towels. If you'd like, arrangements can be made with the owner to purchase any food items prior to your arrival. The first floor also offers a 42 inch TV with satellite service and a computer with internet access, also a Bang & Olufsen stereo system! The living room opens up through 4 sliding glass doors to the south facing deck overlooking the river. Also on the first floor is a half bath for your convenience.
Second Floor: Up the contemporary staircase are 4 bedrooms, two full baths, a common room, and a theater room.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, large dresser, and a recliner. This room has 10' picture windows that look out over the river to the South and Big Mountain to the North. Adjoining the master bedroom is a full bathroom that includes a water closet, shower and separate garden tub. The master bath also has a small balcony. Linens and towels are provided.
The second bedroom sleeps two on a full size bed.
The third and fourth bedrooms each have a loft twin bed. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th bedrooms surround a 'common room'. The common room has a comfortable futon bed that can sleep one (or 2 children).
Adjoining the common room is a second full bath.
The theater room includes a large, comfortable sectional couch, 60 inch Sony TV, satellite, surround sound, and DVD player. You can keep the shades drawn for the complete theater experience or open them up for a full view of Big Mountain. We provide a quality queen sized air mattress that can sleep two in the theater room.
A stay in the Stillwater House will prove, it is the Last Best Place!
Although he is a native of California, as a result of many visits to grandma and grandpa's house on the family farm, Brant dreamed of rearing his children on the land where the Stillwater House now sits. Ten years ago, the dream became possible... and plans for the house were laid. During that time, Brant met, courted and married Tonya, a Texas native. It did not take long for the two to truly appreciate the beauty and blessings of Montana. Brant and Tonya are quick to share that it is a great pleasure raising 4 boys in such a wonderful place. 'We are thrilled to share our little piece of Montana with you and want to be available to meet your needs during your stay. We want to make your stay the best vacation ever!' Brant and Tonya will be available upon request to answer questions or offer assistance.
Brant purchased this house in 2004
The Stillwater House property has been in the family since the original homestead was filed late in the 19th Century.
This home was a perfect place for a group of friends to get away for a few nights of skiing. It is well suited to couples, and has plenty of space to spread out. The holiday decor was a lovely touch! The location is close enough to town to be able to hit the slopes early, but still far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet.
The home itself is modern and well maintained. The kitchen was lovely, and the downstairs TV room was big enough to all watch a movie. The hot tub was great too after a tough day of skiing.
Our group had a lovely time here and are all raving about what a find this place is!
We are a group of 9, from three families and this house was a great fit. The owners were very accommodating and we enjoyed getting to know them. The location of the house was perfect, easy to get to the National Park, Whitefish or Kalispell. The kids enjoyed fishing from the dock and the adults enjoyed the second "beer" refrigerator and amble seating in the living area. The kitchen was very well stocked and large enough for several to work in at once. The views are stunning from every window and we enjoyed watching the wildlife in the fields around the house. Thanks for sharing your home with us!
This beautiful property is located conveniently between Whitefish and Kalispell with a ten minute drive either way...just loved the convenience but also the serenity of it. Some were skiing, others shopped. I spent a day at the spa in Whitefish which was superb.
Leading up to our trip I found dealing with Brant a breeze and Tonya greeted us at the house when we arrived which was great. Such a nice couple.
The house was immaculate, well laid out and perfect for our first holiday as a blended family. Just engaged as of Christmas Eve so the first holiday with five of our grown children plus a few significant others and our granddaughter was the perfect way to celebrate! The house fit us all comfortably and we all enjoyed the hot tub nestled by the river. Very much enjoyed the deer crossing the frozen river with the snow falling softly. Postcard Perfect! I found the large windows in the home great to bring in the light but also to enjoy the scenery. Really all was just great with this property and we would definitely stay here again...Thanks again to Brant and Tonya for sharing your home with us...one of the best, relaxing vacations we have had!
We stayed at Brant and Tonya's Montana home this summer, and everything was lovely. The house has big, comfortable living areas with windows to see out over the fields and river, and beautiful lawns all around it. The spaces inside and out were pleasant to be in, and our group of two families never felt crowded.
The kitchen had basics stocked, and Brant and Tonya made sure we had everything we needed, from hot tub towels to maps and info about the area. They're friendly and accommodating hosts - patient, too. :) There were lots of books and games for the kids, and for adults, too.
We used the house as a base to travel to Glacier Park, and it worked very well. It is out of town a bit, but we were happy for the quiet, and the chance to let the kids run without worrying about disturbing close neighbors.
The river was a little low for swimming so late in the summer, but we loved being able to take the boat out with the kids. The hot tub was lovely, and the deck with fire pit perfect for s'mores. All eight of us had a wonderful time, and would recommend this vacation home without hesitation.
Went down with 12 guys for our annual golf weekend and this place was perfect. The listing and photos are bang on. Plenty of beds, clean & well maintained, modern, everything worked and lots of toilet paper (you don't realize how important this is until you rent a place that doesn't have any). The large kitchen was nice for a lot of people cooking, plenty of rooms for privacy if you wanted to break away from the group, large yard was excellent for playing games or just throwing the football around, spent a lot of time on the deck enjoying the scenery, hot tub was nice at night when it was cooler and overall the place has a very comfortable feeling thanks to the hospitality of the owners.
The owners were easy going and easy to contact if I had and concerns or questions.
I would highly recommend this place to family or friends.
Nearly attractions that we enjoyed were Eagle Bend Golf Course, Whitefish Lake Golf Course, Mooses Saloon and The Bulldog.
Lastly, I would like to thank the owners for letting us stay at the Stillwater House.
We had a wonderful stay at the Stillwater House. Our group of 15 (including 9 children) enjoyed the many amenities - the river, the hot tub, the gorgeous view of mountains (and an expansive sky at night - the stars we amazing!), the well-appointed kitchen with two refrigerators, the DVD collection and Wii, and the built-in fire pit for s'mores. The location was great for our day trips to Glacier National Park and Whitefish. Brant and Tonya were friendly and responsive to our needs. Thank you!
Most summer visitors to the Whitefish area enjoy the mountains, lakes, golfing, shopping, and of course, Glacier National Park. All make for a wonderful vacation! But, why stay at the Stillwater House? Simple... You don't have to go anywhere else to have an amazing time! We have it all right here! Hot tub by the river, fish, swim, even take a boat ride from our private dock. Play horse shoes, stroll a half mile of private, wooded river frontage. You can visit on the back deck while you BBQ and roast marshmallows over the fire pit overlooking the river. Bring your shotgun and plenty of shells to shoot skeet; even bring your fireworks! We have a spacious lawn of nearly an acre ready for you to play football, throw your Frisbee, or just send the kids out for some fresh air! Love to paintball? We have a great wooded area by the river! You can even cycle to a nearby network of mountain bike trails. And when you run out of steam, relax and watch a movie in the theater room. The Stillwater House... Where memories are made!
