Wheather you are planning your very first visit to the Florida Keys or are a returning guest, we'd like to welcome you to our paradise. Islamorada, meaning purple isle, has more fishing vessels per square mile than any other vacation destination in the world and is known as the sport fishing capital of the world.
God-loving, family oriented, and likes to keep things simple.
Andy Cancela purchased this house in 2008
We think Plantation Key is the jewel of the Florida Keys. Islamorada is the coined the 'fishing capital of the world'. Andy has completely remodeled the property inside and out planting over 600 trees and shrubs to create a lush private paradise.
It offers an abundance of open space and privacy. There are breath-taking sunrises and an ever-changing lure of the ocean view. This unique property is somewhat of a compound. We have the main house which is comprised of a 1BR 1BA master suite and a 2BR 2BA downstairs apartment. Privately located adjacent to the main house is a unique Red Cross cottage built in the 1930's.
We are 2 families from Denmark. We have been to the Keys the last 5 years living in different rentals.
This place is very nice. Very relaxing and a wonderfull view. We spend half the time on the bridge, fishing, swimming, snorkling, sailing kayak etc.
The only thing missing is a pool for the children, but in a couple of years, they are to old for swimming.
And then we will be back. The boys going fishing, and the girls going to Sawgrass Mills;-)
This was our first trip to the Keys, and we were a group of 12 - 2 families and a grandma. The spacious property being directly on the water and equipped with a dock, 2 kayaks and water toys meant that the little down time we allowed ourselves, from exploring the area, worked beautifully since the children were able to be occupied outside all the time! The sunrise views from the house were completely spectacular and made us want to rise early everyday. The beautiful birds that grace the property regularly fascinated us! Peacocks and ibis AND large, unaggressive ;) iguanas! We were all happy to swim off the dock in the very clear, warm water. The keys area has so many interesting adventure possibilities to entertain our (combined) 7 children, ages ranging from 5 to 14. Also, the particular location of this property is VERY convenient in terms of accessing great restaurants in nearby Islamorada as well as other family adventure destinations. Also - NOT a bad drive from Miami or Fort Lauderdale airport. The house and property in general has a very peaceful and relaxing air about it, a wonderful departure from the busy pace of such a popular vacation destination. This is a vacation we could do for years to come, easy, pleasing and fun for everyone of all ages.
We stayed at this property in Jan-Feb of 2015 and had a wonderful time. Our group consisted of 6 people, and we all found the property to be very well maintained, very comfortable, and the perfect location for enjoying Islamorada.
The primary reason for our visit was fishing, and this property provided excellent access to the ocean, ample dock space and a boat launch on the property.
Andy and his family were very friendly, and great to work with. We certainly have this property on our list or return vacations!
Growing up in South Florida and the Keys but now moved farm away, I wanted to show my husband and young children the Florida I remembered as a child. This my friends was more than my dreams could have asked for! We were tremendously blessed to have had the opportunity to share this paradise! Private, gated estate with coral wooded hammocks to stroll through, palm trees clicking in the breeze, flocks of ibis that grazed through the lush green yard that ended at the private water front. Orchids blooming in the trees welcomed us to the hammocks where we had our morning coffee to stunning colored sunrises. It had everything: super clean Keys styled house with a cute kitchen (that saved us on meal expenses), bedrooms and bathrooms that were perfect size and accommodations, and wifi. It was quiet yet welcoming to my kids. We kayaked and swam on Christmas morning! The hosts were gracious and really made us feel as we were family. It was a Christmas we will always cherish.
"Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap." Luke 6:38 Truly, after giving us the chance to come share your slice of heaven, our cup runneth over.
We had a wonderful stay here with extended family. We enjoyed everything about the property - it was super comfortable and the kids all loved the water toys. The fishing pier is excellent and my fishing -obsessed son caught about two dozen fish a day! No sitting around waiting for a bite. We will
Our kids very much enjoyed running back and forth between the hammocks on the huge lawn. The view was beautiful and we were able to fish or swim right off the dock which was nice. Really liked using the picnic table outside for early dinners. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful.
The Keys is home to every water sport imaginable. There are activities for adults and children alike. There is the Theatre of the Sea which is a marine life zoo offering swimming with dolphins. Islamorada has once been coined the fishing capital of the world offering fishing of every kind. Another big attraction is the John Pennekamp State Park which offers some of the best snorkeling/diving with the famous underwater Jesus statue. There are also several other area attractions that can be found to suit your needs. We have a list of our favorite things to do and places to eat located in the handbook upon arrival.
