Longville Lodge Rental Photos and Description

7 bedrooms including a 10 person bunk room. Great for large groups.

We would like to thank you for taking time to explore the possibilities of Overholser Lodge, our 7 bedroom 6 bathroom private lodge that sleeps 22 very comfortably. Just completed in 2012 we constructed the lodge as our private family retreat. Once you experience it you'll understand why we want to share it.

Approaching the main entrance you will walk up large cut stone steps to a flagstone patio that leads you to the bluestone portico. In front of you are two large hand carved wooden doors. As you enter our home you will immediately feel engulfed by nature. The elements of wood, metal and stone are used throughout. The log stairs lead to the bridge level which incorporate a metal cutout railing depicting nature scenes with numerous animals hidden for the kids to discover. The great-room is two stories high and has a large flagstone fireplace and massive log trusses. It makes the ideal gathering place. The expansive walls of glass open up the lodge to the impressive views of the main part of Woman Lake.

This exquisite lodge features three private suites all with en suite bathrooms. On the main level is the Master suite, which walks out to the lakeside deck. It includes a romantic gas fireplace and a king size Tempurpedic bed while the en suite bath has a large stone shower and an exquisite all copper bathtub. Capacity: 2

On the lower level are the other two bedroom suites with en suite baths. On the lakeside is the Brown Room which walks out to the lower patio and has a queen size timber frame bed. Its bathroom has a vessel sink and glass shower. Capacity: 2-3*

Across the hall on the roadside is the Green Room. It has a queen size sleigh bed and its bathroom has a bathtub with shower. Capacity: 2-3*

One of the nicest bedrooms in the lodge is the Blue Room up on one end of the bridge level. Although it shares a large bathroom with the bunk room from across the bridge it can be set up as its own private suite with en suite bath by closing the outer door to the bridge. The bedroom has a cape cod style queen size bed. There is also a fun place for the kids to play in or sleep-out. The bathroom has two sinks and a jetted bathtub with shower. Capacity: 2-3*

Across the bridge is the Squirrels Nest Bunk Room. There are four timber frame bunk beds each with two single beds. On opposite ends are two hidden nooks each with one twin bed. Capacity: 10

On the opposite end of the lower level from the Brown Room and Green Room is an Art Room that is set up as a bedroom by means of a full size Murphy bed. Capacity: 2-3* Across the hall is the Library that can serve overflow sleeping with its pull-down full size Murphy bed. Capacity: 2

Serving the Art Room and Library sleeping quarters is the lower level game room bathroom that has a full glass shower and two sinks.

(*= with rollaway, bedroll) All king, queen and full size beds have pillow top mattresses for the most luxurious sleep you can imagine. All linens and towels (except beach towels so bring your own) are included and there are two sets of full size washers and dryers, one on the bridge level and one on the lower level in the exercise room. You will find an iron and ironing board in the Blue Room and Brown Room.

Areas of Enjoyment!

Back on the main level opposite the great-room is the dining room with its massive custom barnwood table made from recycled wood from two-hundred year old New England barns. Adjoining is the open kitchen that allows interaction with the rest of the family during meal preparation. The appliances are all top-of-line stainless steel such as a six burner Wolf induction cooktop and full-size Jenn-Aire double convection oven. The Fisher-Paykel dishwasher is two drawer for convenient clean-up. There is a large Jenn-Aire refrigerator/freezer in the kitchen and also a additional full-size refrigerator and full-size freezer in the separate cater's area. On one end of the large kitchen is the coffee/wine bar with wine cooler, coffee makers and sink. On the other side of the kitchen is the copper farm house sink and in the center is the large granite island with built-in microwave and five stools. Just outside is the grilling deck with a large gas grill for those barbecues. Everything needed to prepare a meal is at hand such as pots, pans, many baking and cooking utensils, blender, food processor, plastic storage bowls, etc. and of course place settings. We even include spices, aluminum foil and cellophane wrap, tea and starter coffee with filters.

Just off the cater's area is a powder room with a barn-wood cabinet and vessel sink.

There is a wrap around deck covering the entire lakeside that has a nice comfortable seating area for quiet conversation or that relaxing morning cup of coffee. Mornings are our favorite time on the upper deck, just sitting and taking in the peace and solitude and watching the squirrels jumping from tree to tree. It makes our morning cup of coffee feel like so much more. Step down from the deck onto the bluestone terrace where there are a number of tables and chairs for eating. Here you will be looking for that waiter as if you're at a five star resort.

Back downstairs in the lower level is the Game Room with a wet bar with refrigerator, sink and dishwasher. Next to the bar is a exercise room with a treadmill and elliptical to keep you in shape. Around the corner from the bar is a two person sauna which can be used wet or dry. The entertainment area takes up the remaining space and includes a gas fireplace, a large 65' LCD 3D TV with satellite receiver, a DVD player and a Xbox 360 game console. There is a pool table, a foosball table and a multi-game video and finally the juke box. Just off the game room is the private library for your reading getaway (new books are always welcome). Step outside of the game room onto the outside lower patio and you'll see a hammock, an outdoor shower and another flagstone patio with a six person hot tub that overlooks the lake for relaxing after a fun filled day. Nearby you'll find a fire pit for those evening gatherings of storytelling and roasted marshmallows.

For extra fun and the best view you'll find a spiral staircase up to the lookout tower. This is the perfect place for some solitude.

Down the breezeway just past the tower stairs you'll find a staircase that will lead you up to the Cinema, an actual eighteen person theater for your private movie enjoyment or business meeting. The 1080p HD projector is supplied by media from a BlueRay DVD player, Satellite TV or AppleTV with access to Netfilx. There is a wet bar with refrigerator and a full size popcorn maker.

The lodge is family friendly with different zones for different activities. You'll find areas to engage in conversation, areas for fun, as well as areas for privacy and relaxation.

For music lovers enjoy the Russound Collage system with ten locations of in-wall music with access to local radio stations or play your personal music streamed directly from your own iPod.

For those who feel the need for connectivity to the outside world, there is Wi-Fi Internet with reception from everywhere inside the lodge not to mention almost anywhere on the property including the decks. Its password protected for your personal use.

Although the lodge is a getaway in itself, Women Lake is the real draw and it's just steps away. Walk down the meandering paths and find yourself at a large dock complex. Here there are steps into the water for easy access to swimming or if you prefer, run and jump off the end of the dock! The shoreline is boulder like however the lake bottom is hard sand with small rocks disappearing as you move out. The water depth is less than two feet at the steps and approximately six feet at the end of the dock. There are two benches to sit on and watch the kids swim or the activity of the lake. Around the corner are two covered slips each with 17' Alumacraft fishing boats both equipped with depth finders, live wells and trolling motors. Each are available for rental either daily or weekly. This season we bought a boat lift for renters boats or pontoons to protect our dock system. We have sustained damage to our docks and don't allow tie ups. This lift can be used by the lodge or the guest cabin upon request, free of charge. The docks are shared with our Guest Cabin.

Our driveway area can easily park six vehicles with another two parking spaces across the road so no need to park and walk a long way.

If your group needs even more space or a smaller space consider renting our Guest Cabin next door. You'll find it on VRBO under listing number 375696. It's a beautiful log cabin that sleeps up to ten. Rent both and receive a discount.

If you are seeking a rustic retreat filled with luxurious amenities on the shores of Woman Lake then we invite you to check us out. We would be honored to have you vacation in our private lodge and feel the peace and quiet that we love to enjoy.

About Susie & Del Overholser

Susie and I are high school sweethearts and natives of Minnesota. We are concerned for the environment and strive to do our part to improve the world we live in. We love nature, fishing, sailing and the arts. We love to share what we believe are beautiful experiences.

Susie & Del Overholser purchased this lodge in 2010

Why Susie & Del Overholser chose Longville

We vacationed on Woman Lake years ago. When the opportunity for us to build our own private family lodge on the lake arose we couldn't be more excited. We love views as well as the lake itself so we chose a location that gave us both.

What makes this lodge unique

We wanted to build a family retreat that presented itself as a true up-north lodge of yesterday yet have it include all the comforts that we all expect today. We call the style of the lodge 'rustic elegance'. The lodge is constructed of Lodge Pole pine and was created by the same company that built Wildness Lodge at Disney World. The logs are actually recycled because there were standing dead timber from Montana. We included into the construction of the lodge three main elements; wood, stone and metal.

Nothing short of AMAZING!!

  • 5 of 5

The Overholser Lodge is AMAZING!!! Everything is perfect. Stayed for a ladies 10th Annual weekend. We all watched a slide show together in the movie theater. As in all gatherings, the kitchen is the center of everything going on. There is everything you could possibly need, and room for everyone to sit and eat together.

The lodge has everything and more and you would need for a great stay! Extra large fridge and freezer off the kitchen makes it so much easier for meals with a crowd. Make sure you have all your groceries you need before you get there, because once you are there you won't want to leave!

No detail is left undone. Would definitely recommend to others for all occasions!

Pre-Labour Day Family Get Together

  • 5 of 5

The lodge is nothing short of spectacular, with spacious accommodations, wonderful views and all the facilities one could ever wish for. The family gathering for my upcoming 50th birthday spent at the lodge could not have been better. We had four wonderful days, with children of all ages and family members with a variety of interests and needs. We were able to accommodate everyone easily in the lodge and also to enjoy activities across all age groups, even though the weather was mixed. We particularly enjoyed the incredible 18 seat cinema, the pool table, foosball table, Jacuzzi, sauna and video games. We also rented one of the motor boat which was well suited for fishing and also for giving people tours of beautiful Woman Lake. I would recommend the lodge to friends and family for any larger family occasions. Sue and Del, and the main caretaker Jason, were all incredibly warm and helpful to us whenever we had any questions regarding the property.

Felt like royalty in our log cabin castle!

  • 5 of 5

We had never met Susie and Del, yet every single piece of our rental experience made us feel like beloved family members. They went above and beyond to prepare the home for our intimate family only wedding weekend. They were patient and thorough in communicating with us before we arrived and did everything they could to accommodate us including buying extra seating and having the place decorated with flowers for our arrival. They went far beyond the requirements of hosting us and were happy to comply with our crazy hot tub in the winter request (which our family loved!). They kindly had paths shoveled for us to access the lake, bonfire pit, and surrounding areas so we could enjoy every amenity, which we did thoroughly! The weekend was immensely enjoyed by all ages as we partook in movie watching, sledding, cooking, star gazing, catered dinner by the Lucky Moose (per Susie's wonderful recommendation), reading, playing Foosball and pool, and giving countless kisses and hugs. Our wedding vows were exchanged in the gorgeous great room where all of my 6 year old fantasies about my wedding day were dramatically outdone! Susie and Del's kindness and generosity in sharing this space with us will be a memory that will be retold again and again and held dear to our hearts for a lifetime. You must experience this place and incredible hospitality!

5 Star Lodge, 6 Star Owners

  • 5 of 5

We stayed only 2 nights at the Overholser's lodge, but it was well worth the money and the drive. Everything about this property is top notch...the workmanship, the details, the layout..all superb. We were a group of 5 families, and there was plenty of room for everyone. Every single one of us were in awe of the property, and dreaded the last day when we all had to gather our stuff and leave.

There's plenty for everyone to do, including swimming in the lake, relaxing in the outdoor Jacuzzi, playing pool in the downstairs family room, to just hanging out at the enormous kitchen and dining area. All the kids loved the property, and never once came to us asking if there's anything else they could do...they just kept busy the whole time which made the parents just able to relax and enjoy the gorgeous views and the house itself.

It was also great that the owners left 4 walkie talkies available for use as the place is so big that sometimes it was a good idea for the kids to hold onto one of them so that we could find out where they were. The movie room, which we called the "West Wing" (as it is separate from the main area, connected via walkway) was a hit for the bigger kids, and the little ones loved the watch tower which they made into their own little getaway.

Once you stay at this property, other places may not be able to live up to your expectations, so be ready for that. We would defineately recommend this property to anyone planning a getaway with family or's a great location away from the hustle and bustle, and just a treat in every way.

Last but not least, the owners are great people...very good communication, quick responses, and just good people.

Cross Country Team Outing

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay at your beautiful lodge on Women Lake. What a beautiful home with all the amenities you could ever want. We all had a wonderful time! We took advantage of the lake, hot tub and sauna along with the gaming system, video game, pool and foosball tables. We watched the sunsets (which are spectacular) each evening from the deck and had meals on the patio. (We even spotted an Eagle flying overhead while eating on the patio!) We had a great time picking out and watching movies in the theater each night and we even put together brackets for playoffs for the pool table and video games. The group I came up with are on the Cross Country Team so each day they ran the loop on the road that runs in front of the lodge to keep up with their training. It was so quiet and relaxing! I have been told by the team that they would like to make this an annual trip!
