South Woodstock is a small New England Village in the heart of Vermont equestrian country. The Green Mountain Horse Asssociation (GMHA) is one mile away and the Kedron Valley Stables are 2.5 miles away. Equestrian events crowd a busy summer schedule at the GMHA and horseback riding is available year 'round at the Kedron Valley Stables. In the winter, enjoy a sleigh ride (or a carriage ride in the summer). Year 'round you can ice skate at Woodstock's indoor rink. In South Woodstock, you can swim at the pond at the Kedron Valley Inn, enjoy a dinner in their restaurant or lunch at the South Woodstock Country Store. Hiking opportunities are limitless; picturesque country roads and the GMHA trail system offer many choices. If alpine skiing is your pleasure, Suicide Six is 15 minutes away and Killington and Okemo are each 35 minutes away. Nordic skiing is available at the Woodstock Ski Touring Center and on the carriage trails of the Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Historic Park. We moved to South Woodstock for its natural beauty and its quiet rural character, but with ready access to the cultural, recreational and educational amenities of historic Woodstock and the Dartmouth College/Upper Connecticut River Valley region.
