Nature whispers to your soul in this comfortable home of nearly 2500 sf, including a separate but attached apartment, 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, and 2 fully functional kitchens. There are three queen size beds and two trundle beds; additionally, there are two sleeper sofas. There is a large, attached 2 car garage with automatic garage door opener, with indoor steps that access the main part of the home, the utility room, and the smaller separate living section. The smaller living section is great for disgruntled teens, grandparents, or on-laws. There is a game room with pool table, and the large decks are surrounded by trees and boulders. There are many windows for connecting with nature, and the national forest with hiking trails is just one block away. It is located minutes away from skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, and snow shoeing. There is ample opportunity for walking, for stargazing and for observing nature. This home is a short drive to a golf course, zoo, the town center, the lake, a museum, library, and hospital (and antique shops!). There are also opportunities for horseback riding, mountain biking, climbing, hiking and trail running, fishing, boating, playing on a small beach, and participating in other lake-based adventures. There is even a children's forest nearby, with educational programs. The town is located near a desert, within 2 1/2 hours of L.A. and Palm Springs. Big Bear Lake takes pride in being a town that cares for and honors children, and there are many creative and fun events held. The weather is fabulous, with average summer lows of 45, and average winter high temps of 45, which makes for a delightful and beautiful four-seasons getaway experience.

About Kathy

Kathy - I have always loved forests and woods, and hiking is my bliss. Both my husband and I were born in Louisiana, and we traveled the world while he was in the military until we moved back to Louisiana to raise our children among family. We both enjoy outdoor activities, but those have been limited by the hot, humid weather.

When our older son passed through Big Bear Lake while visiting friends in California, he thought it was the prettiest area he had ever seen, so we decided to check it out for ourselves and fell in love with the town, the people, and the peacefulness. The weather, with its four distinct seasons, has been perfect for the enjoyment of our outdoor pursuits.

Why Kathy chose Moonridge

Big Bear Lake is a beautiful area with a fascinating past. My husband and I decided to take a few days of vacation following a business meeting in Los Angeles in the summer of 2012, and this is the first area we both fell in love with in our 31 years of traveling the world together. After looking at dozens of houses, we both knew immediately that this was the right home for us. Because of the layout of the house, it is perfect for family get togethers or for a quiet, romantic getaway. The separate living area works wonders as a barrier for families traveling with disgruntled teens or in-laws! We hope that you will enjoy it as much a we do.

What makes this house unique

This spacious home includes an apartment with its own entrance that is connected to the house but that can provide privacy. The large windows provide beautiful views and abundant light. Because of its location near the top of the mountain ridge, there is little traffic yet only a short drive to the village, where there are restaurants, ski shops, and other attractions.

Additional information about rental rates

Check payable in full amount with signed rental agreement must be received 30 days prior to occupancy for an accepted booking. Cancellations up to 2 weeks prior to rental will be refunded 50% with a written notice. A refund of 25% will be returned if cancellation occurs up to one week prior to rental. If the renter is a no-show, then the check amount will not be returned.
Fees And Taxes $150 cleaning for four people. There is an additional fee of $5.00 for each additional person. Pet fee is an additional $200 for professional carpet cleaning if need.
8% occupancy tax is itemized and included in the total amount.
There is a refundable damage deposit of $250 based on the condition that the home is left in which should be left in the same immaculate condition that it was found in.
Please note that the requested dates will not be reserved until the contract is signed and the fee is paid in full.

Notes: This home is on a level lot with a level driveway and on a street that is snowplowed several times daily as needed, however since it is in upper Moonridge neighborhood, there are a few steep and curvy roads that may be hazardous to drive on when there is ice on the road. it is recommended that renters listen for weather alerts and have snow chains ready for use..

We had a lovely stay at the Mountain Sky home. The home is emmaculate and beautiful. It is comparable to a five star hotel! The pictures on the site are accurate, and really do not do this gorgeous home justice. I came with my five children and my daughter's husband. We had planned some excursions out, but decided that the home was so comfortable, we all just stayed in. We enjoyed the pool table, played games, hiked, and bar-b-qued. We had intended some family get away time and that is what we got! Our only regret is that we did not stay longer. The owner, Kathy is a beautiful and gracious person. I could not have asked for a more gracious homeowner to work with or a more perfect spot to share some family time. I would highly recommend this property, BUT please take care of it. It is too beautiful to run down :) Thank you Kathy and all, you are a treasure, as is your home. Thank you for sharing! :)

We are fortunate to have been the first guests to stay in this lovely cabin and had a wonderful experience dealing with the owner, Kathy. She is a gem to work with! So accommodating and gracious! She was easy to speak to and she wanted to make sure our stay was comfortable. We are a family of 4. My brother and his family of 4 also joined us. So we had 4 adults, 4 children. This home was perfect for all of us and we fit comfortably! The property sits on a corner lot, on a quiet street, in Upper Moonridge, which we prefer. A very nice location! Some of the BEST hiking through the woods right up the street as well, just a short distance from the cabin. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms spacious. There is an attached separate room with it's own bed and bath, which worked out GREAT for 2 families. My husband and I slept out there, and it was very private and away from the main house but yet easy access to the house when we wanted to be with the rest of the family. It also had it's own small kitchen. Snow was all around us, and we couldn't have been happier with choosing this place for our stay...
