Lovely La Terrasse
Wife and I had always wondered what it would be like staying here, and finally decided to try it...very glad we did. Found unit online & rented from Len. Super easy to deal with & great rate. Parking was extra, but cheap for where it is...in the basement garage. Front desk and staff were fine, moving at normal isialnd speed. Didn't have maid service, so not sure about them.
Building had gone through some refurbishment, especially the pool area...so in very good shape.
One benefit at La Terrasse is having access to the beach at its sister hotel across the road, La Plage. Only thing you're not allowed to use is the pool, not sure why.
But, the pool at La Terrasse is so freaking cool there were days we stayed there instead of the crowded beach! Nice deck, good chairs & umbrella's, great views of the sea and runway (yes, this is located at the famous "end of the runway" on SXM), hot tub for evenings, and a very big pool that has LED lighting at night that changes colors! Pool bar is cool, but rarely staffed...so we didn't use.
Room was even better than expected! One bedroom with good kitchenette & full size fridge. Dining table, furniture and a flat screen with basic cable and HBO. Bath was small, but nice...with a new shower. Nice size deck that got the morning sun & had a surprisingly good view.
Yes, it's next to the airport so you can watch the planes coming in from the viewing deck next to pool. The Maho Market is right downstairs. There are lots of restaurants on this small strip...and a casino next door!
We really liked staying here for a number of reasons, and will again.
