Overview

Princeville Condo Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedroom 2 Bath: Quiet tropical garden setting Balinese Decor: Hardwood&Granite

This incredible patio home in Mauna Kai captures the true North Shore Feeling. A full luxury remodel has made this the most beautiful condo I have ever seen. Hardwood, granite, and quality furnishings throughout.

A short hike down the Queen's path takes you to peaceful Anini Beach and the blue Pacific where you can safely swim or snorkel with the whole family. Calm waters and a rich underwater life make Anini beach one of the best swimming spots on Kauai. This peaceful stretch of beach is protected by the largest coral reef in Hawaii, so instead of foamy waves breaking up on the sand, you can expect a lake like atmosphere. The protective reef creates a beautiful blue lagoon, unsuited for surfing or body-boarding, but perfect for swimming. Many other close beaches provide world class scenery, surfing, boggy boarding fun and snorkeling.

Mauna Kai is located between the Prince Golf Course and the Makai Course. This location will provide you with the finest tropical golf in the world, or for some it may just be a beautiful walk and great albatross and whale watching. Morning and sunset views from the golf course and the Westin are fantastic. Mauna Kai's tropical breezes and warm waters can be your next dream vacation. Top off the day with a relaxing dip in your private hot tub at this Mauna Kai patio home.

Our beautiful Mauna Kai home is in a lush garden setting at the end of a quiet walkway. It's a garden level unit with four walk out patios. An incredibly remodeled and custom decorated 1500 square feet with two bedrooms allow plenty of room to relax. Some two bedroom two bath condos are only 1000 sq ft, this is really spacious, even a pack & play for the baby. It has new living room sofa and side chairs that add too the home like feeling, it isn't your typical bare bones condo designed to be indestructible.

The last owner described the remodel process as a labor of love. He spared no expense in importing the highest quality materials from Bali and the far east. The quality of this Asian decor is usually reserved for private custom homes. A private hot tub off the living room and master bedroom will make the end of your day in paradise complete. The full size Maytag washer/dryer make it your home away from home. We look forward to staying there several times a year and make it feel like home, completely livable and unique.

Tile floors throughout the main floor give it that clean cool feel. The main living area, on the ground floor, stays cooler than units with second or third story living areas. There is no AC, as is the case with almost all Princeville condos and homes. I have never felt a need for it and quickly adjust to the tropical warmth. Wall to wall doors open to all four patios and lush tropical gardens.

The well equipped kitchen is remodeled with beautiful granite counter tops and custom hardwood cabinets from Bali. The new gourmet cook set and Jenn Air range provide a very functional touch. We enjoy great family meals and entertaining for friends and neighbors. The previous owner was an executive chef on a private yacht and added his personal touch.

The master bedroom has a paneled ceiling, entertainment center with new TV and Japanese shoji screens for privacy and soft exotic lighting. The spacious master bathroom has a double stone sink, full soaking bathtub and shower. The guest bedroom and bath is equally beautiful with antiques, Asian art and hardwood carvings and a nice ceiling fan. A mother of pearl translucent sink is one of the special features.

The Mauna Kai pool is the largest condo pool in Princeville, a pool where you can actually swim laps! Our condo is close to this great pool. The gazebo offers a gas grills, sink, fridge and space for a private party for 50, however it is usually empty and quiet!

A short drive will take you to Hanalei town or Hanalei Beach Park, an incredible town beach with endless sand, soft waves, wade in swimming and boogie board fun. For the more adventurous, Na Pali Coast hiking, kayaking and Secret Beach are the Ultimate! Secret Beach is a 1/2 mile of ever changing natural sand, waves and cliffs with rarely more than a handful of souls.

A short stroll to the Westin Resort gives you access to the finest luxury spa and dining comforts, without the price of the room. Or maybe just visit for coffee, drinks, excellent whale watching, or the ultimate Bali Hai sunset! Bali Hai is the north shore's canvas for the last sunset in the United States each evening. The mountain's majestic profile is the beginning of the Na Pali cliffs along the north shore of Kauai and provides a romantic backdrop for ocean cruises, helicopter flights, and spectacular hiking adventures. This is the million dollar sunset view just steps from our Mauna Kai condo in Princeville. A stay in our spacious 1500 square foot home is just what you're looking for.

The Princeville Center, 5 blocks away, provides many dining and shopping options, including the local market to stock our fully equipped kitchen. High speed WIFI or plug-in internet service. A HD LCD TV with a DVR and Netflix in the living room and the new second TV in master suite will get you through a rainy day.

Princeville, on the north shore, is a great base to see everything Kauai has to offer. So come have a wonderful stay in Paradise.

The Cave

  • 4 of 5
The pictures of the condo where pretty much how the condo is except for the shots of the beach/golf course which i thought were right outside the condo and the secluded gardens which where actually on a thoroughfare. It was a little cavelike for me, i would have preferred more light. It needs a dehumidifier to get rid of musty smell. I can't believe nobody has mentioned the 4am roosters!Otherwise i loved being so close to Hanalei and Princeville has a really nice community center. Very convenient to walk to shops. We had wonderful trip.

Owner's Response: I do my very best to give an accurate description of my home. It is not on the beach or directly on the golf course. It is in fact between the Prince Course (70 yards) and the Makai Course (250 yards) which offer lots of views. The "thoroughfare" is actually a dead end street leading to the Westin. It doesn't bother most people. The roosters are everywhere on Kauai, you can't escape them unless you find a high rise hotel. They come and go around the condo and are part of the tropical environment. We have friends in Mauna Kai with bright 2 story condos that frequently complain about the heat. So there are trade offs. Yes, Kauai is humid, I have never seen anyone run a dehumidifier. With wall to wall windows and sliding doors it would be impossible to lower the humidity. Please read all the wonderful reviews below to put this one in perspective.

Loved our stay here

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed our time here and were sad to leave. It feels like a unique home rather than a vacation rental, and I found it to be a very peaceful, calming and special place. The kitchen is lovely and well-stocked, the living room area is cozy and the master bath is awesome. I loved having a private jacuzzi, and there were bikes, boogie boards and all kinds of beach things available for use. The nearby pool was almost always empty and very relaxing, and the grounds were beautiful. It's easy walk to an awesome ocean view, and I liked the mountain view from the lanai. We had a good feeling about this place when we saw the pictures online, and it absolutely lived up to our expectations! Very happy that we stayed here during our first trip to Kauai.

What a wonderful and perfect place to stay. We were at first worried that our vacation would consist of way too much time indoors because of approaching hurricane Anna. Once we arrived to the Condo we decided that at least if we had to be indoors in Kauai for the first part of our trip at least we were in a luxury condo! Very beautifully decorated. The condo provided a wonderful respite for relaxation when we weren't out seeing everything the island has to offer. It is a perfect location up the street from the Princeville market (which we walked to nearly daily) and a short drive to Hanalei (our favorite little town). We rode bikes to the St. Regis for sunset and found snorkeling on tunnels beach and swimming in Queens bath to be our favorite!

Amazing, Southeast Asia Inspired Condo

  • 5 of 5
My husband 2 daughers (age 1.5 and 3) just enjoyed a 10 day trip to this wonderful condo and an amazing time! The condo is not your average "cookie cutter" condo, but has a beautiful resort feel to it. My husband and I traveled through Thailand, and kept commenting how reminiscent this space was to the stays we had in tropical Asia. The garden outside was perfect for our daily breakfast, as well as, enjoying the backdrop mountain views and having a space for little ones to roam while not at the beach. They loved the outdoor hammock swing. We were ALL over the NORTH shore with every beach and site a quick and easy drive away. We were in Hanalei multiple times a day which is a quick 5-7 minute drive. There is a path to hike down to the beach, which is great, but can be a bit much with 2 little ones and the gear (ie toys, towels etc) that little ones like to have. ALL the beaches are perfect so you can't go wrong and walking to the beach was a perk because everything is so close. They provided a pack and play, extremely comfortable beds, and laundry! All our needs in the condo were BEYOND met with towels, dishes, 2 different dining tables (in and outdoor) Wi-Fi etc. Bruce, the owner, was extremely helpful in trip planning and answered any and all questions promptly and extremely helpful. We actually extended our stay we loved it so much! I would highly recommend this condo for couples, families, and anyone looking to enjoy the beautiful and relaxing North Shore! ( I will note a car (for us) was a must as barring Annini beach you need to drive to see the sites).

Great Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5
We've stayed in VRBO properties many times and have never stayed in one as well equipped as this. I had contacted Bruce before our arrival and told him that we had two babies under a year old and he went out of his way to provide us with two pack 'n plays and a booster seat. The kitchen had every spice you would need, a nice blender to make smoothies, and even a rice cooker. We were also pleasantly surprised to find beach toys, beach chairs, snorkeling equipment, a recent Kauai travel book, laundry soap, and even a yoga mat.

Although there are many condo units in the complex, the location of this condo is great because there's a small yard right off the patio and it's very private. It's also nice that you can walk through the yard to get to the sidewalk that takes you to the top of the trail that goes down to Anini beach. We hiked down to the beach several times and didn't think the hike was bad at all even with a baby in a back pack carrier (although when we wanted to bring all the beach gear we would drive to the other end of Anini beach or just drive to Hanalei). It's also a short walk to a great park and the Princeville shopping area.

The beds and couch were very comfortable and we enjoyed the unique decor and updated bathrooms and kitchen. After spending the first part of our vacation in a condo in Poipu with no air-conditioning we were worried that we would be in for another hot week but the weather in Princeville is so much cooler and air-conditioning really wasn't necessary.

We would not hesitate to stay here again if we go back to Kauai, this condo is a great value for the price.

Kauai Weather

Weather you could be enjoying!

Mon 11/26/2012 at 7 pm it is 74°F , today's high was

H 80 F, and the low was L 66 F

Step off the plane and feel the warm embrace of Kauai with average yearly temperatures ranging between 84 and 69 degrees. Ocean temperatures are also perfect ranging from 71 to 81 degrees year round.

Kauai offers seven distinct microclimates, from lush interior spots to arid areas on the West Side. Mount Waialeale (elevation 5,148 ft) is at the heart of Kauai's uninhabited interior and is a quintessential rainforest with over 400-inches of rain per year. The rain that falls around Mt. Waialeale generally does not affect the coastal parts of the island, which get far less rain than the central spots (as little as 18-inches a year in western areas). Much of Kauai's rainfall is a nightly occurrence, and the rain showers that do occur are almost always brief. When you do see rain, wait for the beautiful rainbows that follow.

The trade winds in Kauai also keep things cool for visitors. The winds are generally light and help chase away much of Hawaii’s humidity. With such great weather, any time of year is a good time to visit Kauai.
