HISTORIC GREEK REVIVAL WITH VIEWS OF MYSTIC RIVER

Mystic House Rental Photos and Description

Great downtown location is perfect for fine dining, sightseeing & entertaining.

This home is located in the heart of Historic Mystic between the Mystic Art Center and Captain Daniel Packer Inn and is within easy walking distance of all of downtown restaurants, shops and attractions.

Our recently renovated historic 2-bedroom home offers a modern bathroom with full-size tub/shower combination, fully appointed galley kitchen, spacious eating/sitting area and comfortable living room with queen-size hide-away bed. Both bedrooms have queen sized beds, a comfortable sitting area, dresser drawers and plenty of closet space. Bedrooms and bathroom are located on the second floor where there is also a cozy reading nook with its own great view of the Mystic River. Outside offers a great view of the river from the covered front veranda or if you prefer there a large rear deck with table, chairs and gas grill. There is on-site parking for two cars or a car with modest boat trailer (public boat launch less than a minute away).

The home is fully furnished and decorated with an eclectic collection of period pieces, folk art, curiosities and other items of local interest. The kitchen come equipped with a range w/oven, full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and microwave oven. There is also a coffee maker, toaster, blender, pots, pans, dishes and cooking/eating utensils. There is generous seating in both the eating and living room areas. There is also cable TV and high-speed wireless internet. Fresh towels and linens are provided and will be replaced once per week for longer visits.

Whether you prefer walking, biking, water taxi or shuttle, you are only minutes away from restaurants, shopping, multi-denominational houses of worship, Mystic Seaport Museum and Mystic Aquarium.

This property is a short 5-minute drive from I-95 Exit 89. The route through downtown from Exit 90 will take a bit longer but is probably worth the extra time for first time visitors.

T.F. Green International (Providence/Warwick RI) is about a 45-minute drive;

Bradley International Airport (Hartford/Springfield) is approximately a 1hr 20m drive;

Logan International (Boston) is only a 2hr drive.

If you're coming by train to New London you’ll have a 15-minute drive;

By train to Westerly RI it’s about a 25-minute drive;

If you take the train to Mystic Depot you'll have a 10-minute walk from the depot to the property but it will undoubtedly take a bit longer as you take in the sites of this historic village.

Mystic is a unique New England village straddling the Mystic River. The portion of the village on the right (west) bank was originally known as Mystic River and is part of the town of Groton CT. The left bank was originally known as Mystic Bridge and is a part of the town of Stonington CT. Downtown Mystic River is comprised of Water Street, West Main Street, Pearl Street and Gravel Street. East Main Street, Holmes Street and Cottrell Street make up the Mystic Bridge side of the village. Walking is the best way to get around downtown and all of downtown is within easy walking distance from this property. Browse the shops then pick a restaurant of your liking. When done with dinner take a leisurely stroll along the riverfront or just find a bench and relax for awhile in Mystic River Park. If you prefer to work off a bit of your gastronomic indulgence, you can easily find rentals for kayaks, canoes and bicycles.

New for the 2014 summer season is the “Ride and Dine” program sponsored by Mystic Community Bikes. Be sure to check out the free “green bikes” available from several locations throughout town.

Day and dinner cruises along the river and around Fishers Island Sound are sure to make your Mystic visit a most memorable experience.

It is a short drive to the historic fishing village of Stonington Borough, Foxwoods/MGM Grand and Mohegan Sun Casinos, Fort Griswold on the Groton Bank, Bluff Point State Park, Haley Farm State park, Barn Island Wild Life Preserve, Watch Hill RI and some of the best ocean beaches on the Atlantic coast.

Perfect location, quirky and clean.

Has a historical feel to it without being musty and unpleasant. Nice rooms, comfortable beds, and owners who are clearly thoughtful about the experience they are providing.

Very clean and cozy home. We stayed for 2 nights with our 2 boys and newborn daughter. It was very comfortable, clean and had all the comforts of home especially bringing my newborn. Walking distance to the town of Mystic and short drive for other local attractions. Great location!

Owner's Response: Tara and clan were great guests and took wonderful care of our home. I actually got to meet this young family - mom, dad, infant girl and two young well behaved energetic boys. I could tell all were having fun and that's the best part for us as hosts. Welcome back any time to our home and other hosts should have no qualms inviting this family into their home.

We just spent a wonderful weekend in Mystic. This rental was perfect! It is a great location but more importantly a beautiful well kept property. The owners were wonderful to work with and very responsive to all my questions.

Downtown Mystic- a nice stay!

  • 4 of 5
The house was fully equipt and comfortable. Lots of hot water, and kitchen essentials so we didn't need to buy sugar, etc.. If you are a light sleeper choose the back bedroom. The road is a bit noisy, even at night. Best part- you can walk all over downtown Mystic, which was all lit up for Christmas. Lovely.

Ideal location with 5 star comfort

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for a week in early August while visiting family in nearby Groton. This location in Mystic is perfect for walking to many restaurants, cafes and shops. Not needing the car was a great benefit since we love to walk and parking did appear to be limited in Mystic. There is a lovely view of the river and harbor just outside the front door and across the street. The home was very comfortable, well maintained and clean. We immediately felt at home and relaxed. Michael was a perfect host in that he responded to our questions before our arrival and during our stay. He was readily available to help with any concerns and provided us with excellent directions to and from the Hartford airport. Very much appreciated! There is no front yard but the back has a lovely deck with a view of an amazing rock wall and is fairly private. We had a perfect six days, wished for more time, and would highly recommend this home to family and friends. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Connecticut. Thank you Michael and Dawn!

historic, charming

  • 5 of 5
The home is old and historic, which creates the charm. However, the home is also modernized to make it quite comfortable (updated bathroom, kitchen, flat screen tv). It is conveniently located to downtown Mystic and within walking distance to tons of restaurants and cafes. Michael and Dawn have done a fabulous job decorating the place -it's very quaint and cozy -and they were very accommodating and responded to our questions promptly. I would definitely recommend this place and would rent it again if/when I find myself back in Mystic.
