Portland House Rental Photos and Description
Brand New Complete Remodel 2 Story, 5 Bed 3 Full Bath (sleeps 10)
Come stay at our charming, fully remodeled, spacious cottage in an adorable neighborhood of Portland. This is a home away from home! Everything is brand new as the house was redone from the studs up. The Metzger/Garden Home neighborhood is minutes from downtown Portland, the Portland Zoo, Japanese and Rose Gardens, blocks from Washington Square Mall and the Red Eagle Golf Course, one exit from Lake Oswego and has off street parking. Being only 6 blocks from I-5 makes it extremely convenient for any activity that brings you to Oregon: our world renowned wine country, skiing at Mt. Hood, a day at the coast, an Oregon Duck game in Eugene, cycling or business. Central downtown Portland is 14 minutes away by car. This location is our personal favorite and we have owned several homes in the neighborhood because it is convenient to everything, quaint, quiet and well established. The home is walking distance to the bus line, 5 blocks from Metzger Park, 1 mile from the Garden Home Rec Center which has summer camp for kids, classes for all ages, sports activities year round and much more. The Jewish Community center and Multnomah Village are 3.5 miles away. Portland Community College Sylvania campus is 2 miles away. You will have the entire home to live in during your stay. The home is a large 2200 feet with 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths on a 1/2 acre with beautiful trees, a large lawn perfect for croquet or bocce ball (both provided) and a lovely sunset deck. There are 5 bedrooms, 2 upstairs and 3 downstairs. The upstairs master has a queen bed with a private bath and large walk in closet. The 2nd upstairs bedroom has 2 twin beds and a full bath off the hall. Downstairs has 1 bedroom with a queen bed, a 2nd room with a full bed, and a 3rd room with bunk beds. There is a spacious full bath downstairs. All 3 baths have shower and tub are stocked with soap, lotion, hair products, hair dryer. All of the linens are new and there are plenty of blankets and pillows and cozy comforters. Upstairs comfortably sleeps 4 and downstairs 6. All rooms have true mattresses; there are no futons or air mattresses. This is a very family friendly home as the downstairs offers a spacious living/ rec room and there's lots of yard to play in and explore. (Please note - - - due to insurance restrictions we absolutely do not allow events! Maximum people day or night is 10. Many people believe that if they rent this great, large home that they can throw an event but we do not allow events and we do live in the neighborhood!) If you choose to cook you have a well utensiled gourmet kitchen including oil, spices, coffee pot. There's a bread maker if you are so inclined! There is a phenomenal grocery store walking distance 4 blocks away for any food items you might need. There are lots of local pubs and eateries within a mile of the house and a guide to Portland's central restaurants is provided.
Kara and I are avid cyclists and can provide referrals to bike rental shops and great cycling destinations. We are not on site but close by if you need us. I grew up in the area and Kara emigrated from California in the 90s. We live in SW Portland close by and our office is not too far off in Lake Oswego. Kara is a Family Medicine doctor in private practice and I help run her very busy clinic. She has been practicing in the community for over 14 years and I have been a mortgage broker for 18 years. I continue to do mortgages for longtime clients, family and friends. We have 2 teenage boys, cats, chickens and fish. We race bicycles, cross train in any way we can including kayaking, skiing, riking (a combo run/hike sport we created because hiking was just too slow much to the chagrin of our kids!). Kara is a photographer and also paints, makes jewelry and can't wait to get a pottery wheel someday. She supports local artists any way she can and is an avid collector of modern and vintage artwork. I am a woodworker, lather and burgeoning chef. Kara recently sent me to a week of cooking boot camp at one of our local cooking schools and now there's no looking back. She really just wants me barefoot in the kitchen. We are avid herb and vegetable gardeners, love food, great wine, music and always look forward to helping guests with restaurant selections. We know the region well and have our favorite excursions and are available for guidance! We have used VRBO extensively for our travels in the US and all over Europe and hope our experiences help make yours a wonderful one! We are excited to share this lovely home with you! James
James purchased this house in 2012
Why James chose Portland
We are hoping to share our love of the Northwest and make some new friends by opening our Oak Street home. We purchased the home for Kara's mother last year but cold feet have kept Mom in California for now. We love the house too much to sell! It has recently been remodeled from the studs out and is perfect for a romantic getaway or a family road trip with a big crew.
What makes this house unique
Easy access to the two main freeways makes this the perfect location for your visit and sight seeing.
Guestbook comments from the owner
James and Kara were the perfect hosts for our short trip to Portland. Their home is beautiful and well equipped, to make any stay an enjoyable one. We were particularly impressed with the extra details they went to, to ensure our children were "at home". The home is so close to everything (shops, parks and all the main points of interest in Portland), yet provides a quiet location. James met us as we arrived and provided us with maps and suggestions and we were so grateful. We will be definitely coming back to stay in Summer!!!!
