Kailua Kona House Rental Photos and Description

Private Pool, Close to to Kailua Kona, Designer Decorated!

This home has direct ocean views from the living room, the dining room, the kitchen and the master bedroom! You can hear the surf from your bed at night!

This is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath private luxury home with a panoramic (sunset) view of the Ocean. This is not an 'ohana' (or in-law suite) associated with another house as some of them are. This is a separate house on it's own separate lot. This house has a private solar-heated pool…a hot tub with an ocean view…a printer, WiFi, and is a 5 minute drive to the main shopping and restaurant district in town and also to the closest beach. The house has an extensive video collection of 'favorite' movies (including children's movies), and has some toys for children. It has most appliances you could want. The back of this house overlooks the ocean and is very private. The front overlooks the mountains.

We call this house the 'Crystal House' because of the crystals found in the foyer and scattered around the yard.

The house is in Kailua-Kona about 2 miles south of the main part of town with many restaurants and shops. Kailua-Kona is the main tourist spot on The Big Island. It is on the sunny side of the island (as opposed to Hilo which is on the rainy side). It is 80-85 degrees and sunny almost every day of the year in Kona. Kailua-Kona is on the coastline of the island. The Big Island is a magical place to visit. It's easier to understand this magic once you come, since a lot of this has to do with the 'feeling' many people get while on the island.

Great House, great location, awesome vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a month in the Crystal House. The location and house are as advertised. Very relaxing. It is located in a "normal" neighborhood, and we liked that. Close to stores and shops. The owners were very responsive to our needs. The house has everything you need to enjoy Kona and the big island. We shall return! Thank you Laurie.

Wonderful getaway in paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Our trip was a family trip and the Crystal House met our needs in everyway. It was everything that was expected and more, the houses appearance was very welcoming. Loved the décor and the outside amenities. A great location to do many activities. The information provided by Laurie was amazingly helpful, she was attentive and stayed in touch with us from start to finish making us feel at home. The view was spell bounding and we enjoyed watching the surfers, boats and waves from the Lanai. The hot tub was very relaxing after a long day of snorkeling, not to forget the fun times we had in the pool. All of our friends have been in awe after seeing the pictures of the Crystal House. Highly recommended to everyone for a wonderful time in Kailua Kona, HI. Aloha.

My first impression was Shangri-la. Exotic with beautiful oriental decor which we loved. Very classy. The art work was so beautiful. Every item blended together to make one feel very comfortable and you can tell by it all, the owners have much Aloha for their guest. They want you to feel at home. From the beautiful landscaping in front so well taken care of, to the WI fi, a children's play area, a jacuzzi, sauna, pool. We were tempted to just hang around and enjoy all this luxury. So clean and all the little extras that they put out there to use such as the spices in the kitchen. Wow, we have rented lots of rental homes of this caliber in this area, but this home owned by Laurie and Jacob surpassed my expectations. I would recommend it to my friends and think this home should be a model for those that rent but don't invest in updating their homes. I look forward to renting this home again.

Great home in great location, great owners

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at this home for 11 nights. The home was very clean and well equipped. It was everything described plus more. The owners were very easy to work with, very responsive on the few questions we had. The home was very spacious, modern, decorated well. The pool was just the right temperature. The landscaping was beautiful and well kept. The home is in a nice neighborhood, very convienent to the Queen K Highway and only minutes from downtown Kona. The sunsets were great from the lanai. The lanai was very enjoyable to eat meals - great views and comfortable. We have rented several nice places in the Kona area, but this was the best! We are very grateful to have stayed at this home - thank you again Laurie and Jacob! We hope to visit again :-)

Crystal House Stay

  • 5 of 5

Having owned timeshares, and a condo in Kona for years, we decided to try a house this trip. After reviewing a number of them on VRBO, we selected Crystal House, and could not have been happier.

The house is located within a few miles of downtown Kona, Kahalu'u (snorkel beach), and Keauhou Bay. Very convenient to everything in Kona.

Crystal house is well furnished and maintained and provides a pool and hot tub steps from your back door. The lanai provides lovely 180 degree coastline views and beautiful Kona sunsets. Even though there are neighbors on both sides, we rarely saw anyone, and had complete privacy amid the beautiful landscaping.

We thoroughly enjoyed the several weeks we stayed, and would highly recommend this property to others.

~Oasis at the Crystal House~

  • 5 of 5

We have a family of 6 (our oldest girl is special needs) so to have a place where we aren't falling on top of each other is a must. The Crystal House didn't disappoint! We think the pictures online are nice but don't do justice to how truly beautiful The Crystal House is. From the moment we stepped inside the door we were blown away by the beauty of the decor. Laurie and Jacob have made the home elegant but not pretentious. There were so many beautiful pieces of artwork (it did make my husband and I a bit nervous with the kids) but they were placed well (out of the way). The feng shui in the home gave off good vibes. It was a regal home but it always felt cozy and inviting. There's a binder that Laurie and Jacob have created about great locations:beaches, restaurants, hiking, sightseeing, shopping- you name it and it was in there. We also had almost the same info in an email that they sent us but it was nice having it to read through at the house. My husband and I stayed in the master bedroom and "whoa" what an amazing area- the huge bathroom (tub and shower separated), private toilet and bidet, 2 sinks on opposite sides from each other and the bed was so comfy. I haven't slept that good in a bed other than mine in awhile. Our private lanai was amazing as well. We had a direct view of the pool but even better the view of the ocean. The 2 rooms downstairs were very nice as well. And the bathroom. Everything was beautifully decorated. The kitchen had any utensil you could want. There were a variety of spices and oils for cooking, as well as beautiful dishes and goblets. There was plenty of dishwasher soap and also laundry detergent and dryer sheets. Everything was easy and accessible to operate. The lanai on the main (pool) level had a wonderful outdoor table that seated 7. We were in the pool and hot tub every night. The kids had a hay day with picking the star fruit - which they gobbled right up! My husband bbq'd almost every night. All of our kids (ages 9-17) loved the home. This was the best vacation we have ever been on. I would highly recommend this to family and friends. We loved The Crystal House and can't wait to come back!

Lastly, although we didn't get to meet Laurie and Jacob they were always available to answer any questions we might have had. And on our last day I had forgotten my new speaker cord. Jacob reached my husband right away and is sending it back to me. Mahalo!!!!!

We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing, beautiful vacation.

Getting around the Big Island is very simple since there is (pretty much) one highway going around the whole island. Check out the map of the island included in our photos. It's an excellent idea to get the book 'Hawaii The Big Island Revealed' before your visit.

SIMPLE BIG ISLAND VACATION PLAN OF MUST DO's: (see more details below)

1. Have Breakfast and coffee at Lava Java downtown 75-5799 Alii Drive- 327-2161 You may want to start every morning this way... Our # 1 'MUST DO'.

2. Lunch at The Coffee Shack. The view is 'wow'. (11 miles south on highway 11. (808) 328-9555)

3. Go to Huggo's for a fantastic dinner and view of the ocean followed by Huggo's on the Rocks (next door). downtown Kailua-Kona. 808 329-1493. Needs reservation for Huggo's. Alii Drive, right of Royal Kona Resort.

4. Have Drinks at The Kona Inn- downtown on the water- Go for the view and the Mai Tai's. 75-5744 Alii Dr, 329-4010

5. Go to Hawi and eat at the Bamboo Restaurant for a very Hawaiian experience. Shop Hawi then go to Polulu Point (see more below).

6. Go Zip-Lining near Hawi!

7. Do the Sea Quest snorkeling and Cave trip boat tour with Captain Liam (2 miles from the house).

8. Drive to Volcano National Park (dont miss the Chain of Craters Road) and have lunch at Cafe Ono.

9. Drive to Hilo and see the Botanical Gardens, see Akaka Falls and eat at the 50's restaurant on the way.

10. Have a Lava Flow and snorkel at Kahalu'u Beach (2 miles away from the house, best snorkeling on island) and/or spend a day at (the more lush beach) Hapuna Beach, perhaps have lunch at the price Hotel next door- (45 minutes north).

11. Stroll through the Kona Outdoor Market open Wednesdays through Sundays. Downtown Kona next to St Michael's Church.

12. Go to a luau the Royal Kona Luau (2 miles from the house).

13. Check out some traditional Hawaiian take-out food to keep at the house. Kailua Pork gotten at the Kava Bar next to Wasabi's downtown and the 'Dynamite Poke' from Da Poke Shack on a mile away. Also Killer Taco's is a legend in Kona for take out tacos and the famous 'Barnyard Burrito'.

14. Consider para-sailing and Jet-skiing in close by downtown Kailua-Kona.

See below for much much more!

BEST BOOK TO GET: 'Hawaii The Big Island Revealed' (the blue book)- hands down.

The house offers a solar heated pool, an infra red sauna, an extensive video collection, and some toys.

We have boogie boards, surf boards, towels, beach chairs, coolers etc etc. Feel free to use anything.

A fantastic WALKING PATH is just up the street- (the Walua trail is 3 blocks up the hill to the right). This is a historic trail where donkeys used to deliver goods to this town. It is a fairly flat trail (hard to find in a hilly town like Kailua-Kona) and if you look you'll see mile markers, so you will know how long you've walked.

The house is close to one of the best snorkeling beaches on the island (Kahalu'u Beach Park), one of the best surfing spots (Lyman's Beach which you can see from the bedroom), 'Magic' Sands Beach (the beach is there... then it's 'not' there!) and Keauhou Bay (that offers many water activities- we love Sea Quest fast boat snorkeling and cave tours 329-7238 and dolphin excurions (see below for much more). In downtown Kona / Alii Drive you can sign up for parasailing, kayaking and jet-skiing.

.....Ask Laurie for the complete list of activities and restaurants- also included in our guest book in the house!
